I'm trying to develop an infinite menu (horizontal scroller) for a Portfolio. It works but not properly the way it should. After few loops the images get out of sync I don't know why. And if possible can you also help to add some easing to the movement? What I did was, I add to instances of the menu one called menu and another called menu1. I reworked a script that creates a menu from XML. Works great, it creates the menu items by attaching a button I have in my library, each button gets the proper data passed to it in the process. Each button has an onRelease tied to it by the script. When the menu item is clicked (onRelease) it loads an image and proper data into the movie (into movie clips & dynamic text boxes).My hangup is that I want the first menu item to be called when the menu is created. In other words, i want to call the function that the onRelease is calling with the first menu items data but i can't figure out how to do it.All i can figure is having the button call the function itself [i.e.if(this.name =="button1"){] but that doesn't work.[code]

I've tried applying Ilyas' infinite menu to the Senocular's XML portfolio. However, the movement looks bad--you can see where the thumbs stop and begin. I was wondering how this could be fixed??
Also, would it be possible that when you click on a thumbnail, a PDF file is launched? How could I do this from the XML file? I'm trying to create a continuous scrolling horizontal menu. The menu would contain pictures of news articles and when you click on the picture, you could read the article in the PDF!
Since each article is pretty long, like news clippings, I don't think having this info in a flash pop-up box would work?
I have a set of 5 text buttons that I want to alter slightly with actionscript. An OnClip event moves the 5 text buttons onto the screen, then each button has a stop action as well as an OnPress/OnRelease that rotates it from black text to blue text and rolls back to black text again. I just need it to be black text to blue and stop when the viewer clicks the link to go to an HTML page.
How would you code it so that the text button rolls from black to blue and stays BLUE for the selected HTML page as long as the user is on it, letting them know where they are in the site's navigation. The sample code from button 1 is below:

My Flash video player does not work, and according to some similar posts I read this is because of a referencing issue. I found several solutions for Flex, but that does not help my specific case.HTML 5 does not seem to work in AIR 2.0 either, so I am a bit stumped.
the attached menu has functions for onRollover, and onRollout, however I was wondering if it was possible to create a function for onRelease that would mean that once the menu item was selected, the onRollout would not set the menu back to original color and would leave it highlighted so users could see that this was the page were on via the menu.It is saved in CS3 as I work with CS4 and it does not seem to let me save it back for 8 or earlier versions.

View 1 RepliesI got this scripts from a tutorial site. It's a 3D rotating menu/panels, reacting to the mouse movement. On mouse click, it will expand to a certain size, but I can't stop the rotation. How can I stop the rotation with the specified panel facing front when mouse release, and return to rotating and its original size upon second mouse click?? And, I notice it's a little buggy, sometimes the panel shink to a smaller size.

I manage to create a loader to load the images of my portfolio, first I couldn't remove the previous image, when I loaded the second one, the first one was still there. Now it seems to disappear when I added the line removeChild(loader1). BUT I still get a message in the output panel:
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild() at prueba3_fla::MainTimeline/clickF2()
I don't know if this is going to be a problem in the future or not. I don't have any idea of what this message is talking about

So, I've always struggled with the best way to do this. I have a method, but it seems like there's gotta be a better way.
Say you have an array of menu items

I realize that there's some additional code that would need to be written here, but you get the point. Basically what I'm doing is disabling the button so nothing happens onRollOut. Then I'm setting all the buttons colors to null, but changing whichever button was flagged as active to red.
It seems like a really ghetto way of doing this, and you notice a visible flicker in color of the active menu item if there are a lot of items in your array. Does anybody know a better way to handle this?
I got a problem with dynamicaly assigning the onRelease event on my buttons.
I got about 45 buttons and I don't want to create 300 lines of code just to create each of the onRelease events on them so I thought about using a loop (for) to pass through them and assigning the onRelease event. This is what I got and thought would work:

Unfortunately, it does go to "salle" (which is a frame), but the CURRENT_SECTION variable is always set to 43! I can't understand why it would give me 43 on any of the section buttons I click (which ranges from 1 to 42). how I could make this work? I don't like having too much codes in my Flash (I've been using a hell load of loops to make it cleaner).
Solve one problem. Still have another. Why doesn't this code work correctly for the onRelease?

I have the problem with creating multiply functions. I want to create onRelease function for every item in array that will navigate to specific URL from xml.Here is the code:

I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.
I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]
