Nov 20, 2009I've got sIFR setup to replace a navigation menu (looks pretty slick). It's individually replacing the LIs and their internal links. I have an onRelease tag that throws properly, extracts the actual href link address, all good so far. I want to tie this into an AJAX page loader, with backwards-compatability (+SEO) for the individual pages being able to load themselves. I've tried return false like I would for standard links, no dice.
I'm assuming it doesn't work because it's onRelease, not onClick or something BEFORE it is already changing the page? onClick doesn't seem to be a valid sIFR function, documentation at [URL] onRollOver, onRollOut, and onRelease.
IDE :: OnRelease Disable Menu Button?
Mar 14, 2009the attached menu has functions for onRollover, and onRollout, however I was wondering if it was possible to create a function for onRelease that would mean that once the menu item was selected, the onRollout would not set the menu back to original color and would leave it highlighted so users could see that this was the page were on via the menu.It is saved in CS3 as I work with CS4 and it does not seem to let me save it back for 8 or earlier versions.

Jul 20, 2009I am new to Flash. I bought a template online a couple weeks ago, and for the most part have made all the changes to personalize the page. The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. My question is, how could I change the link on the main page to route to my youtube channel? Here's what it looks like in the text file:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Rotating Menu / Panels - Stop Them OnRelease?
Mar 12, 2007I got this scripts from a tutorial site. It's a 3D rotating menu/panels, reacting to the mouse movement. On mouse click, it will expand to a certain size, but I can't stop the rotation. How can I stop the rotation with the specified panel facing front when mouse release, and return to rotating and its original size upon second mouse click?? And, I notice it's a little buggy, sometimes the panel shink to a smaller size.

Feb 25, 2009I reworked a script that creates a menu from XML. Works great, it creates the menu items by attaching a button I have in my library, each button gets the proper data passed to it in the process. Each button has an onRelease tied to it by the script. When the menu item is clicked (onRelease) it loads an image and proper data into the movie (into movie clips & dynamic text boxes).My hangup is that I want the first menu item to be called when the menu is created. In other words, i want to call the function that the onRelease is calling with the first menu items data but i can't figure out how to do it.All i can figure is having the button call the function itself [i.e.if(this.name =="button1"){] but that doesn't work.[code]

Jul 17, 2008So, I've always struggled with the best way to do this. I have a method, but it seems like there's gotta be a better way.
Say you have an array of menu items

, and onRollOver they receive a certain color:

I realize that there's some additional code that would need to be written here, but you get the point. Basically what I'm doing is disabling the button so nothing happens onRollOut. Then I'm setting all the buttons colors to null, but changing whichever button was flagged as active to red.
It seems like a really ghetto way of doing this, and you notice a visible flicker in color of the active menu item if there are a lot of items in your array. Does anybody know a better way to handle this?

Jun 1, 2009i have an fla that has a number of labelled frames that are relevant to buttons on the page. when a button is clicked the movie timeline goes to the specific frame and plays an animation - but how can i make it play the animation in reverse before going to the new frame.
so if the user clicks on, "about" (for example) the timeline moves to the "about" frame and plays an animation and then pauses and if the user then clicks on "contact" the about animation will reverse itself and then go to the contact frame and play the 'about' animation.
i have done something similar in the past by putting this script on the button

ActionScript 1/2 :: Make A Menu That Has OnRelease Buttons On Top Of OnRollover Buttons
Mar 20, 2011I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.
I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]

Jul 20, 2009I am new to Flash and am working on a web template I purchase online. I have a flash file called flash.fla I'm working with in Flash CS4 (trial). Of the five main menu buttons, I would like to redirect the 4th (the "videos" tab) to a youtube channel I've set up. I've located where the 4th button is in my .fla file. It's called B4. I double clicked on it, which opens it up in the timeline. There's 4 little objects in the timeline: b, b, t1, and t2.b is a frame, as is the 2nd b, and both t1 and t2 are documents. The only one I can open up in ActionScript is the 2nd B. I choose the GetURL from Script Assist, and put in my desired address, as followsI then close out ActionScript, and Export it as an Image File. I name it flash.swf to replace the .swf with the same name on my server. When I publish the new changes, the page just says Menu. If I click on that,

Dec 9, 2004I made 4 short 2 minutes SWF "presentation movies" that I want to burn onto BizCard CDs and mail to clients and prospective clients.
