AS3 :: IDE - Menu - Add A Roll Over And Link Each Buttons To Different Websites??
Sep 18, 2010
okay so i am trying to create a menu system that contains 6 buttons and positioned in the center of the stage . the button originates from the Library as a single MovieClip and positioned dynamically but how do i add a roll over and link each 6 buttons to 6 different websites?
I'm creating a webpage, and I have made some buttons.Image 1 is the homepage, which is frame 1 in Flash.Image 2 shows that when I rollover the button "Portfolio,"I get a dropdown menu.I have this set as frame 3 in Flash.Image 3 shows that I've gone down the dropdown menu and rolled over "Photography." But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears. So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.
having previously made webpages just in html.I have a flash movie and wanted to add a series of links.I've made some buttons, but when I rightclick on them and go to actions, I don't get the 'basic actions>geturl' command that the help screens tell me I should have. I get some other crazy menu with options like 'Global Functions', 'Actionscript 2.0 Classes' etc.how I can bring up the actions menu that will allow me to create a link from my buttons?
I have two buttons in my flex app next to each other, ButtonA and ButtonB. When the user does a mouse roll-over on any of the two buttons, I want the roll-over skin (overSkin) to show on both buttons, i.e. Button A and Button B. I tried to do it using this when user rolled over Button B:
How do I link the pictures in the attached file to different websites. Example, when image 1 appears, I want users to be able to click on it to take them to story 1. Then when picture 2 appears, users can click on it to go to story 2, etc.
how to link the buttons in drop down menu to the content(scenes) within the flash file? The drop down menu has been made using the masks. Those buttons, which are not drop down/masked, work properly. Those which are drop down/masked, do not work. The content appears after clicking on them, then disappears when other (drop down) button is rolled over.
I'm using Adobe CS4 Professional flash to create the basis of the website, a photo background with an interactive menu overlay on top. Does anyone know any good tutorials for an interactive menu (roll you mouse over certain things and the sub-menu comes up which lead to other pages of the site etc.)
i built this navigation bar where there is an arrow and menus - when u roll over a menu the arrow slides to it....now what i'm trying to do is that when u press a menu and then u roll over another menu and when u roll out that menu it slides back to the pressed menu - like a magnet affect..
Here's the deal: I have a dynamic textbox on stage containing htmlText populated from an xml file. The text contains a hyperlink created by an anchor tag who's href attribute calls an actionscript function. When the link is rolled over and rolled out, the line break changes if the text is extremely close to the right edge of the textbox. As far as I know the problem has something to with autoSize being true and the font being embedded. I believe when you rollover the link in the htmlText, the autoSize causes the text to be redrawn and somehow this time it breaks it instead of letting it go right up to the edge of the textbox.
Originally I had solved this problem by first calculating the height of the textbox with autoSize on, then turning autoSize off and setting the height manually. As I said this worked for years but, alas, it is doing it again.Just to make sure I turned autoSize back on and practically every screen with a hyperlink did have the same problem so turning autoSize off definitely fixed it, at least 99.9% of the time.I can quick fix it by changing the width of the textbox, even 1px so that the last word of the culprit line isn't so close to the edge. However, I am wondering, has anyone ever run into this problem before? Also, it would be nice to know the actual cause of the problem rather than just using work-arounds.
I'm trying to make a Roll Out Menu, using a Button with a Movie Clip in its Over state. The problem that I'm running into is that when I roll off of the button the Roll Out Menu disappears. Is there any way that I can keep it out? I know that I could probably make this work by having the button itself have an invisible shape that covers where the Roll Out will appear, but then it will overlap the other Button's Roll Out Menu. Also, if it matters, the Menu is vertical and is something like this:
I am new to Flash. I bought a template online a couple weeks ago, and for the most part have made all the changes to personalize the page. The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. My question is, how could I change the link on the main page to route to my youtube channel? Here's what it looks like in the text file:
i got the drop down menu to come down once rolled over but it cancels out all other actions meaning it cancels the functions of the rest of the menu none of my other buttons work nowhow can i fix this?each button has its own action ie:
I've got a slight problem with a drop down menu.. Obviously ha. Whenever I click to drop down the menu that works fine; however, when I roll over a button in the menu it scrolls back up..
[Code]...
I've also attached the fla to view in cs4 and cs3 formats.
The buttons on this drop down menu ocassionally get stuck when I roll the mouse over the button too quickly. I am working in Flash and running in the project of Flash Player 8.
I'm in the process of learning OOP and have run into a small problem. I'm trying to create a basic menu system where you can rollover and rollout of all links. When you select a link, it stays highlighted until you click another link.I've given the 5 links instance names like (link0, link1, link2, link3, link4) and given them each an ID of (0,1,2,3,4) - respectively. I used to be able to do something like this:
i'm building a menu that has an arrow that eases to the spot of the sub menu when u mouse over it. i did it very easily.but what i want to do now is when the user roll out of a sub menu the arrow eases to it's original position.so far all my tries faild...the arrows starts "freaking out"...
I've created movie clip, in which when you Roll Over it, it will load another movieclip within that frame which will display the menu (and in there are the buttons that link the scenes together).how do I get the movieclip that is within a movieclip, that is again in another movie clip to link to the next scene? Can it even be done with one of the movie clips asking as a roll over?

You'll find an example at: [URL] The submenu from company or expertise button animates forward when I roll over, backwards when I roll off but not from the last frame. It play's backwards from the frame I roll off.
Whats wrong with my buttons? here see how they rollover and dissappear and takes a second for them to reappear they should look like this Not counting the last button what did I do wrong here? I am modifying code of a programmer who is not with my company anymore and I need to edit this for a client
I am experiencing some weird behavior with some moveclips and buttons on my video player; (as2)URL...I have created a video player that has the scrubber/playpause button actually move with the position in the video. There are other links that appear when the main video is at a certain point. There seems to be 2 problems with it which I cant figure out what is going on...
-1st is that the scrubber is actually linked to the timeline (where the buttons are on) with the follwing code;MovieClip.prototype.scrubbb2 = function (x){var f2:Number = Math.round (this._totalframes * x);this.gotoAndStop (f2);}For some reason the timeline starts from when the video is buffering, so its all out of sync with certain points in the video. But when you move the scrubber, the timeline seems to 'snap' into place and then all the videos line up.
-2nd is that the link buttons will not appear unless the mouse is over the flash video player on the webpage. If your mouse is out of the video player nothing appears when its meant to. as soon as you put the mouse cursor into the flash player the links (that are meant to be visible) appear instantly. Is there a way to make them always appear on time?!
I figured out how I can create a roll over effect on one button so it fades in & out depending on if you are on it or not. I'm trying to create the same effect for my other 13 or so buttons & I can't seem to get it. I keep getting errors any way I try to code it. This is the code I have **trying to add the code for my first 2 thumbs"
I've just started to look at PV3D working through the tutorials here. I'm trying to make up a menu system, just using primitive planes for the buttons and using a movieclip in the library for the texture, so far so good but I'm now getting a weird effect with the roll over/out. clicky here
If you just roll over the buttons randomly the roll over and out works fine but if you roll over one then roll out - but not over another button - then the roll over state remains. Checking the traces though the button does receive the roll out call but then immediately receives a roll over call putting it back in to a highlighted state.
I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?
I am looking at creating a menu with three movieclip buttons on a main menu. I want to keep these buttons on the top of the screen at all times. I am opening different swf's and I want to make sure that the buttons are still showing. I know there is something with changing or swapping the depth of the movie clip when it loads the new swf's in, but I have not found anything that is seeming to work.
