ActionScript 2.0 :: Rotating Menu / Panels - Stop Them OnRelease?
Mar 12, 2007
I got this scripts from a tutorial site. It's a 3D rotating menu/panels, reacting to the mouse movement. On mouse click, it will expand to a certain size, but I can't stop the rotation. How can I stop the rotation with the specified panel facing front when mouse release, and return to rotating and its original size upon second mouse click?? And, I notice it's a little buggy, sometimes the panel shink to a smaller size.
On the attached swf you'll see my slowly rotating menu. Each of the icons around the outside is a button which takes u to a specific page. When the user rolls over the button I want the menu to stop rotating, and if the user moves the mouse away I want the menu to continue rotating. Should I be using mc instead of a button?
I am following the 3d flash panels tutorial located here. My ActionScript matches exactly to the tutorial at 11:54 excepting the document size because it is different in my document.
Code: Select allpackage [code]..........
I have the TweenLite com folder in the folder that the FLA is located in, and my document class is named PhotoPanels as in the movie, but my images are not rotating as they do in the tutorial at this point.
I have a rotating menu that sets the selected button to the 3:00 position once clicked. I need the labels for the buttons to stay in the upright position as they rotate with the button. I have attached an image. Anyone know of an action script that would keep the labels upright?
Here my attempt at creating the Kirupa's Spinning Images gallery. I'm so damn close it somewhat works, I'm still having trouble with the rotational calculations. Not sure, but I think I might be passing the wrong values from the onRelease to the enterFrame loop?
spin3a.fla var world:Array = []; var rotate = 0; var fl = 1000; var clip; function spin() { [Code] .....
I've seen all kinds of accordion menu examples that allow for one pane open at a time, but I really need one that can have more than one open at a time.
the attached menu has functions for onRollover, and onRollout, however I was wondering if it was possible to create a function for onRelease that would mean that once the menu item was selected, the onRollout would not set the menu back to original color and would leave it highlighted so users could see that this was the page were on via the menu.It is saved in CS3 as I work with CS4 and it does not seem to let me save it back for 8 or earlier versions.
I am using this script in the 1st frame to load external XML file
PHP Code: this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", this.getNextHighestDepth()); var myXML:XML = new XML(); var links:Array = new Array(); myXML.load("myMenu.xml");myXML.ignoreWhite = true; myXML.onLoad = function (success:Boolean){ [Code] .....
In the same frame I have another button, on release I want the actionscript to unload this menu. I tried using PHP Code: _root.myXML.removeMovieClip(); But seems not working out.
i am using this as my casourel menu.[code]i am very new to the as. now the problem is how to change the button onRelease link to the frame number instead of url?
I'm trying to create a menu.. that can be easily updatable with actionscript in a txt file.. (menu.txt) However, the files (swf) have to load in mc (dropstage). here's the code for the menu (menu.txt)
I reworked a script that creates a menu from XML. Works great, it creates the menu items by attaching a button I have in my library, each button gets the proper data passed to it in the process. Each button has an onRelease tied to it by the script. When the menu item is clicked (onRelease) it loads an image and proper data into the movie (into movie clips & dynamic text boxes).My hangup is that I want the first menu item to be called when the menu is created. In other words, i want to call the function that the onRelease is calling with the first menu items data but i can't figure out how to do it.All i can figure is having the button call the function itself [i.e.if(this.name =="button1"){] but that doesn't work.[code]
So, I've always struggled with the best way to do this. I have a method, but it seems like there's gotta be a better way.
Say you have an array of menu items
Code: var menuArray:Arrary = [item1,item2,item3]; , and onRollOver they receive a certain color:
[Code]....
I realize that there's some additional code that would need to be written here, but you get the point. Basically what I'm doing is disabling the button so nothing happens onRollOut. Then I'm setting all the buttons colors to null, but changing whichever button was flagged as active to red.
It seems like a really ghetto way of doing this, and you notice a visible flicker in color of the active menu item if there are a lot of items in your array. Does anybody know a better way to handle this?
I have created a rotating menu using AS3 from a tutorial here; [URL]I have it working now but I am trying to change the rotation axis, so the circle responds to the mouse vertically(Up &down) as at the moment it is hoizontally(left & right)
I have downloaded a demo of a rotating menu from here: [URL]. But when I go to open and publish the movie nothing happens, it seems like there could be something missing, I can't upload the files as the folder is to large, you can download the files from the link above.
There is a fantastic mouse sensitive merry go round 'menu' within the kirupa site via the link:http:[url]....
It's situated under the first example, named basic camera panning.This is very hard code. I understand the principals, but personally am new to actionscripting, and therefore cannot piece together my own example from the code supplied, purely by not understanding the placing of the actionscripting.provide a *.fla file from the example that is explained in the link above?
browsing [URL]... I would like to implement a version of this 3-D rotating menu with several changes. I would like to change the orientation to vertical and once one of the numbered instances has been triggered I would like the instance to revert to its inactive state. I am a novice to actionscript but in this case I find the code even more confusing. I cannot see an instance on the stage that would trigger the events and the math functions of actionscript is still very much a dark art to me.
I am working on a project and am trying to create a menu that upon clicking a certain point rotates to a frame and then plays a clip. Something similar to this navigation would be great:[URL]..
I'm still finding my way around even the simplest things in Actionscript. I have a movieclip named 'leaf9' in which I'm using as a button (which happens to be within another movieclip). I have the following actionscript on the frame which contains 'leaf9':
What I want is for all the other functions to go away once "shrink" has started to play, so that if the mouse goes over the button again, the clip doesn't start playing "rollover" etc etc. So how do I stop all the other functions from playing once the .onRelease function has started?
Able to direct me in the right direction as to how to go about adding preloaders for images on a rotating menu.
I am not after any kind of complex animation loader, just simple text that says 'Image Loading'
I have a few thoughts which are;
1.create moveclip with the words 'loading Images' some how load this in the background of main holder that loads images in so that when image loads it loads over the text 'Image loading' technically not a loader just text in the background.
2.create moveclip with the words 'loading Images' that when image loads in the text is replaced by image that loaded in? [code]...
I am trying to create a circle menu like the link below by searching through net I found some of the menus but not the exact one. Am attaching the menu which was created by me. The menu is not rotating properly. Link : [URL]
I'm trying to make a simple cube menu. The rotation is done by buttons. After finishing my code, im having some troubles with some rotations of the cube.
I have a circular rotating menu made up of a few buttons. When the mouse rolls over the a button in the movie clip (rotating menu) it stops. My question is how do I apply easing to it, here is the actionscript I applied to the buttons:
on (rollOver) { stop(); } on (rollOut) {[code].....
I've been having a spot of trouble working with this menu. My goal is to create this rotating menu with buttons that expand another movieclip with text/detailed information when you roll over it. What I'm having trouble with is making it usable, since it also needs to slow down/stop the frames of both movieclip's animations as the user approached/rolled over the button.I've searched for a couple of tutorials, but I don't understand them well enough to really manipulate the code for my uses. Especially since I seem to mostly find 3D Carousel tutorials that seem to be a little different
I have a set of 5 text buttons that I want to alter slightly with actionscript. An OnClip event moves the 5 text buttons onto the screen, then each button has a stop action as well as an OnPress/OnRelease that rotates it from black text to blue text and rolls back to black text again. I just need it to be black text to blue and stop when the viewer clicks the link to go to an HTML page.
How would you code it so that the text button rolls from black to blue and stays BLUE for the selected HTML page as long as the user is on it, letting them know where they are in the site's navigation. The sample code from button 1 is below:
My problem is pretty simple, but I'm still finding my way around even the simplest things in Actionscript. I have a movieclip named 'leaf9' in which I'm using as a button (which happens to be within another movieclip). I have the following actionscript on the frame which contains 'leaf9':
