ActionScript 2.0 :: 3D Rotating Gallery - OnRelease And EnterFrame Loop

May 8, 2006

Here my attempt at creating the Kirupa's Spinning Images gallery. I'm so damn close it somewhat works, I'm still having trouble with the rotational calculations. Not sure, but I think I might be passing the wrong values from the onRelease to the enterFrame loop?

spin3a.fla
var world:Array = [];
var rotate = 0;
var fl = 1000;
var clip;
function spin() {

How can I stop the rotation with the specified panel facing front when mouse release, and return to rotating and its original size upon second mouse click?? And, I notice it's a little buggy, sometimes the panel shink to a smaller size.

I wasn't sure how to name this thread to well. Here's my funk: I have made a photo slide show and all works well for browsing and viewing. Where I got stuck was when I tried to write code that would center images that were vertical. This is the entire code on the empty mc that has it preload, display then adjust the x of the image. Now, with this code if the image is vertical it flies off the right of the page. haha. sounds fun eh?

Flex :: Enterframe Event - Using Timer Class For Main Loop

Jan 8, 2011

I have been developing a game using Flex, and used the Timer class to keep the main loop going. However, when I tried using the enterFrame event to do the main loop, there were a few problems. First of all, physics simulation seemed way too fast. Is the enterFrame event called more than once per frame? I set the application's global frame rate to 24, so shouldn't the application set off the event every 1/24 of a second? And the second problem is that when the game runs like this, some MXML components that are added are not shown.

ActionScript 2.0 :: For Loop OnRelease Function?

Jul 14, 2010

I am designing and coding a navigation menu at the moment, and so far I have got the button instances to duplicate for each of the menu items, and set widths, positioning values and RollOver/RollOut functions. However, I would ideally like to include the onRelease button functions in the for loop too - as they are all the same apart from the variable "i". Here is the code snippet:

ActionScript Code:
for (i=1;i<(_root.noofmenuitems+1);i++){
duplicateMovieClip("mc", "mc"+i, i);

[code]...

Now my problem is that by the time the onRelease function is called, the for loop has been completed and the value of i returned is the last i value from the loop (_root.noofmenuitems+1). The this["mc"+i] part obviously works, because the trace function is called when I click any of the menu items.The problem is that I have 6 menu items, and when I click any of them, the trace function returns "test 7" - not the corresponding i values for each button.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Using OnRelease Inside A For Loop

Aug 1, 2011

I am having a hard time trying to use an onRelease event handler inside a for loop. Basically, I am developping a custom player for articulate presenter using flash and AS2.This code is generating a movie clip in a for loop for each line in the sidebar, with slide title and slide number parsed from a XML.Until here, all works fine.But when I try to generate the onRelease event handler to play the wanted slide when I click on the line, the value inside the onRelease is always the highest value of i.Looks like the onRelease evaluates i only when I click on the line, after all the clips have been generated.[code]I have to find a way to capture the value of i for each clip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash 8] OnRelease In A FOR LOOP

May 8, 2007

I am making a few drag and drop games that work great when I hard code them. When I use a FOR loop and name = eval("something"+i+"_mc") everything works great. I can assign startDrag to all MCs, I can make it stop drag, and so on. But when I try to do a hitTest, it only works for the highest value of [i] in the FOR loop. It will still assign text to all the dynamic text boxes in each MC, and do the dragging stuff, but it won't do a hitTest for anything other than the highest value.

I've searched several sites and have found things about Delegate.create, using [this.i] rather than just [i], and much more. The problem is it always partially or half works. It won't just break, it will either let both drag and only acknowledge one hitTest, or ignore the stopDrag or whatever else. Either they both partially work, or only the highest [i] value is acknowledged.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Image Gallery Rotating In 3D Space?

Apr 9, 2004

I am designing an image gallery to show project screenshots for a portfolio. The horizontally scrolling screenshots technique is nice, but I want to do something similar in 3D space.

When the user clicks on the screenshot buttons for the selected project, I want the appropriate image to rotate around an imaginary center, increase in scale, and fade in to full opacity.

At the same time, the other images need to rotate around the same center point and scale down while the alpha decreases. The Screenshot furthest away from the viewer would have the smallest size and lowest alpha setting. Here's a couple things that might throw a wrench into the works. I need to keep all the images facing forward (instead of rotating as if they were on a cyllinder). Also, not all of my projects have the same number of screenshots. Can I do all this with actionscript?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Rotating Through An Animation, Hesitating With For Loop?

Sep 11, 2009

I need to rotate through an animation sequence.

the animation is 40 frames long and I have stop frames on 1, 10, 20, 30, and 40.
everytime the user clicks the "rotate" btn, it will go through the animation

This is the code I have on the rotate button:

on (release) { for (var i = 0; i<=5; i++) {  _root.play();  trace(i); }}

It works for the most part, BUT, once the animation starts over again, it hesitates for a frame when you click the rotate button then it goes back
to normal.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Sliding Gallery / How To Loop Around

Apr 29, 2009

I'm working on a sliding featured gallery like Kongregate.com or Hulu.com uses on their home pages. What I have so far is here:URL...Where I am running into trouble is in the loop around/wrap around areas. My next and previous buttons tween to the next/previous item just fine. However when I get to the last/first, it gets tricky.What I have done when you get to feature #5 is check for the x position, and if I am going beyond 5, I reset it so that we pull in #1 instead. The problem is that this scrolls in #1 from the wrong direction. (Take a look at the SWF above to see what I mean).If I shoot further back in negative X direction and scroll that way, I'll end up with blank space at the start of the move. I could dupe #5 and put it there, but then I have two versions of feature #5 (and #1 for the wrap the other way) that have to be maintained. (Note these will be more than just a blank square obviously, they will each be movie clips that do things).

Possibly that is the correct way? Or am I going about this the wrong way. Would it make more sense to dynamically create, scroll and remove the clips on each button click? (I'm not sure how I would do that exactlyI suppose I could also add the buttons via actionscript too, instead of placing them in a layer and them zipping them to the top, although I'm not sure it matters much.[code]Also one other thing, I note that if the user clicks one of the buttons before the tween completes, it throws the whole thing off (since it grabs the x value when clicked) - is there a way to disable the buttons until the tween is complete?
