Actionscript 2.0 :: OnRelease Functions Not Working

Oct 12, 2010

I have a serious situation regarding the onRelease Funciton not working properly.I have a FVLplayback componant inside a flash project inside a movie clip. Inside that movie clip I have two layers, One for actionscript and and the other for the actual component which contains instance name of 'myPlayer' (without quotes)[code]That cameraRoll is the instance name of another movie clip I have located in the movie clip as shown in path above. Inside that movie I have rollover, Rollout effects. The actionscipt is in an invisible button right on top of the objects. The actionscript is:[code]The objective: the movieclip to carry out the rollover Rollout effect and to have the function that will start the video.The Problem: When I run the flash project, it does the effect but won't start the video. If i move things around, I can have the video start playing but then the button won't do the rollOver, RollOut effects.

-the path to the video component:-root.menu.video

-the path to the movie clip taht contains the timeframes for rollOver/rollOut effects )which contains invisible button on top of everything. root. menu.cameraRoll

ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClip - Stop All The Other Functions From Playing Once The .onRelease Function Has Started?

May 12, 2005

I'm still finding my way around even the simplest things in Actionscript. I have a movieclip named 'leaf9' in which I'm using as a button (which happens to be within another movieclip). I have the following actionscript on the frame which contains 'leaf9':

[AS]
leaf9.onRollOver = function(){
this.gotoAndPlay("rollover");[code].....

What I want is for all the other functions to go away once "shrink" has started to play, so that if the mouse goes over the button again, the clip doesn't start playing "rollover" etc etc. So how do I stop all the other functions from playing once the .onRelease function has started?

ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRelease Function To Cancel Out The Other Functions Once The User Presses The Button

Jun 22, 2006

I have a MovieClip with 3 functions to act as a button - onRollover, onRollout, onRelease. I want the onRelease function to cancel out the other functions once the user presses the button.

How would I script that?

Code:
navMenu1.onRollOver = function() {
_parent.jumpTobg1X(2);
this.gotoAndPlay("over");

[Code]...

Basically, I have the function sliding another movieclip along the x axis. onRelease it slide to position 3 - which I want it to stay there, but my onRollout function keeps sliding it back to position 2 (which i need for users just browsing the navigation before a selection is made)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Remove The Button And Only Have To Hit The Enter Key To Submit Text And To Move To The Specified Frame

Jan 16, 2012

I have an input text box and a button. When you type specific words into the input box and then hit the button it sends you to a specific frame. What I want to do is essentially remove the button and only have to hit the enter key to submit my text and to move to the specified frame. Here is my current code that is placed on the main timeline, first frame:

[Code]...

I'm trying to just hit the enter key instead of having to click the submit button. I've been trying to get it working for the past couple of hours but haven't had any luck. My best guess is that the enter key isn't valid because it's an input box and may be confused with trying to create a new line (even though my input box is set to single line and not multiline). If so, is there any other way to do this?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Onrelease Play Animation Then Go To Frame?

Jun 1, 2009

i have an fla that has a number of labelled frames that are relevant to buttons on the page. when a button is clicked the movie timeline goes to the specific frame and plays an animation - but how can i make it play the animation in reverse before going to the new frame.

so if the user clicks on, "about" (for example) the timeline moves to the "about" frame and plays an animation and then pauses and if the user then clicks on "contact" the about animation will reverse itself and then go to the contact frame and play the 'about' animation.

i have done something similar in the past by putting this script on the button

Code:
on (release) {
_root.movieToLoad = "url of swf";
play();

[Code].....

and in this case the mc of the animation would be "text1" or "text2" etc...

Professional :: Buttons With Multiple Functions?

Feb 26, 2010

I am building a Flash site with a boombox animation.  I have the below code I am using.  I am using just two frames.  First frame, is where I put the code in the actions layer, boombox is still.  In the second frame, I placed my movie clips on layers (woofers vibrating & tape deck spins).  No code in second frame.  So, if you hit the play, previous or forward button a song goes on and the animation start.  If you press the pause button, animations stop with music.  I have created 2 functions per button.

2 questions: 1 - Is this the best way to do it?  If I press the buttons quickly, sometimes a song gets stuck and I can't stop, forward, etc.  I was wondering if this was the code?

2 - I am tweening in my pages using AS3 - not timeline.  I have a music and video page (each a movieclip).  Is there a way that once I tween in the new movie clip (non-music of vid page) that the music or video can shut off?

ActionScript 3.0 :: One Button / Multiple Functions

I have added a button to unload the external file when wanted, and was wondering if you could have multiple functions for that button, so that when you click it to unload it works as a 'home' button as well, and takes the user back to the mainpage again?Might be wise to mention that im kinda new to adobe flash and as3, and not sure if the way i have used to load the external swf was the easiest. Seems like a few have had some issues with this subject before me as well.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Multiple Functions For One Button?

May 8, 2008

How would I manage to enable a button to perform several operations? I want a button to do the following.

I want it to change colour etc, when it is hovered over, I also want it to activate anther flash file on the page via local connection on release. How do I allow the button to set up different actions? Do I need to make 2 separate invisible buttons? And have action script applied to both of them for the 2 commands? How for example would I be able to extend this so that I can have the button doing several things? Say:

1) On rollover it changes colour
2) On rollover it activates a flash mc on the page
3) On Click it changes colour
4) On release it takes the user to another page

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keyboard Event With Multiple Functions?

Most flash games and interactive animations that use keyboard events are made to respond in different ways to different keys.I am working on games for toddlers, who basically just bang on the keyboard indiscriminately. The trouble I'm having is setting up keyboard eventlisteners (key_up) that each perform different function.We're talking games like: when key pressed, ducky dances; when key pressed, doggy dances; when key is pressed, ducky and doggy go to sleep. I've attempted removing the listener before adding the next one:
