ActionScript 2.0 :: Create A Movie With 3 External Swfs?
Oct 29, 2004
I am trying, and have started to create a movie with 3 external swfs, and one nice chunky one to start. I am combining some aftereffects video stuff, so the files are kind of large. What I am doing so far, is setting up a simple preloader (one that I got from here) and then on frame three, embedding the first segment of my movie. Once that first segment plays, and gets to frame 220 or so, I then have a container placed with the loadmovie command, to load the next swf. And then so on, and so on.
It works fine, however, there is a pause when the _root gets to the next frame container to load the movie. The reason being I am sure, is that the movie isn't loading while the initial _root movie segment is playing. Is there a command I can use maybe on frame 3 of the _root, right after the preloader, to trigger the download of the next movies?
I have looked at some different forums, and have done the searches, but nothing specifically answers this for me--or quite possibly, I am just overlooking the obvious.
I would like the preloader to still only load what is on the initial _root timeline, but as i said, have the other swfs loading while that first part is playing.
[URL]regarding this tutorial I started my site [URL] to get some trasition effects but im getting somewhat different since the external SWFs take time to load. isn't it better to create "intro and outro" on the same time line instead of loading external SWFs bcos once the movie loaded as a whole will lead to smooth and contineous transitions.
can someone give me the AS for loading external swfs into a movie? the swf name is slideshow.swf. (i am trying to load a slideshow into the movie using AS so that when the keyframes his the "stop();" function, the slideshow does not stop) or is their a better way of accomplishing this?

Anyway, I have a main.swf with a menu that is its own mc. (It needs to pop up when the menu button is clicked), from this menu I need external swfs to open inside my main.swf. I also want my external swfs to play in order. like mod_1.swf plays and then opens mod_2.swf ect.
(the menu is just for the user to jump around)
So I have started with this code... on the main timeline(Scene) I have a target code
I recently created a site using the "Transitions between External SWFs" tutorial for Flash MX 2004. I use this to load the sections of my site into the main movie file. Each section is an External SWF file. When a viewer clicks on a navigation button, the specific external swf move will load and play. Currently, a viewer would need to click on another navigation option to close the current external swf file. I would like to add a close button to each of the external swfs so that a view has the option to close the window without clicking on a naviagtion link.
This is my first time working with As3 and im a bit lost, everything is so different from the old good As2... what im trying to achieve is to create a simple virtual tour, i have a map with a few buttons on it that when clicked should lead to a panoramic swf that contains a picture of that particular place in the map. I already have the map and the panoramic swfs. But im clueless as to how to actually put them all together in one document. I tried by using this method but for some reason that loads just the panorama swf and not the picture inside it.
im using a load targetscript to load external swfs into the main timeline of my movie, however im keeping much of the other layers/mc's loaded, and the external swf is loading over them, the level the blank movie clip is created in doesnt seem to be working propperlly?? whats going wrong?
when loading/unloading external swfs into a container movie,i`ve noticed that any intervals (within the loaded files)i`ve used are not being cleared despite the movie being unloaded causing errors when the same swf is reloaded. Without manually clearing all intervals is there a way round this?

I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
I am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
I have just completed the "Transitions Between External SWFs" tutorial and I'm now I'm at the stage of altering a few things in there to suit my needs. But I've run into a problem...For my buttons, intead of "Button" symbols, I want to use "Movie Clip" symbols - reason being is that I've got some specially animated Movie Clip buttons that I wish to use.To get this... err "working"... with my Movie Clip buttons I have needed to use "_root." when referencing to the container Movie Clip. Now that works to an extent, but for some reason each button plays only "red.swf" even when there is no mention of it in the ActionScript and is instructed to play "blue" for example ("red.swf" happens to be the first appearing movie).Normal method with Button - works fine!
Code: on (release) { if (_root.currMovie == undefined) { _root.currMovie = "red"; container.loadMovie("
I went through Claudio's preloader transition tutorial on kirupa ([URL]). I have tried to apply it to my own fla and everything seems to work fine EXCEPT I can't get any of the external swfs to load into the empty movie clip called "content". And yes, I have checked and rechecked to make sure that all MCs have instance names!
I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.
Specifically, I am building a flash page that loads external swf files and inside some of the external swf files, I would like to add audio and flash video (flv) streaming from the Flaash Media Server. In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf
i used kirupa's [URL].. tutorial to create a movie with buttons that load external movies and works seamlessly.
my problem is that i want to do the same thing on the external movies that are loaded so to be able to load new external movies on top of them. it does not work and i know its because of the _root script that gets messed up when a new movie is loaded. it has to become _parent or smthing but i can't seem to be able to make it work..
I am creating a full site in flash. The main movie has an empty movie clip in the middle of the movie to load external movies as the user clicks on the links. Everything has worked good so far as the linking has only gone 1 level deep. However, when I created a new external movie, and had buttons on it for another external page, but yet to open in the main movie, I can't get anything to work. Example.... In the main movie, the user clicks on the archive link, and the external archive movie is loaded into the main movie. Now, on this archive movie, there is a button on it that links to a another movie (say text effects.swf). However, when they click this button for text effects, I can't get it to load into the main movie clip and replace the archive movie that was currenlty there.
I read the tutorial about transitions between external swfs and started implementing it! So as a good and ordonate guy that I am, I put the index.html in the root, created a style folder for the style and a folder for the swfs. I was struggling about one hour to find out why it wouldn't work, to find out that if I move the html inside with the swfs, being in the same directory, it worked fine!
I am looking for open source tools to do Actionscript3 web development. (Web Sites),I know about the existence of tools such as Eclipse+plugins and Flash Develop for the coding but I am most concerned about the graphics part.Is there any tool out there to create SWFs with all the graphics for animate with AS3 later? how to find out the positioning of all the graphics in the layout withou a tools like Flash IDE.
ok so im trying to create a sort of SMOOTH transition between swfs.
the problem im having is, targeting a specific label when i need it.
what i mean is, i can target it fine by tpecasting my external as a MC, but...it doesnt give me the desired effect.
for example, i want it so that when a button is pressed, go and play the "outro" frame inside the external swf, at the end of that same external swf, theres an " end" label, when that label is reached. something happens etc.
my problem is that when i hit the button, at the time of that event firing, the "end" is null or rather undefined because it hasnt reached there yet and i get an error or if i do a if/else statement, then i get the else part firing off since again, "end" isnt reached yet when the button is pressed.
i dont know how to make it fire when the "end" label is reached.
i tried while loops but...no good lol. thing froze flash for a bit until it did fire, by then it was a mess lol.
heres my code:
Code: stop(); var loader:Loader = new Loader(); var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("indexCoontentLoad.swf");
[Code].....
ive added a " here i get lost" comment to indicate the part im lost in/cant figure out how to write.
overall, what i hope to achieve is that when the "end" label is reached, something happens. else, just keep playing until it is reached.
I have a custom form that I want to implement and I am having a problem figuring out how to do so. I want to have it work like an inner popup where it blurs and unblurs the background imageHere's my setup:FLA file contains-UILoader for swf sectionUILoader for random background imageLets say I load a section called home.swf into the section loader. Within the home.swf I have a button for someone to call up the form.swf. Is it possible for the form to blur the random background image when loaded then unblur it when it's done? I also have no idea how to unload it.
I know this is a very basic question and one that I know the anwser to, but it's been a while since I've used Flash and the solution is escaping me right now. I'm loading external swfs into my main swf and they should just be playing automatically. When I test in Flash, the system works. Upon loading the swf into an HTML page, the system seems to shut down. It seems liike the exteranl swfs aren't even loading. This is what I've got so far.
I am using this thumbnail gallery attached but instead of loading images through the xml I want to load external SWF'S. I also want to be able to control each SWF loaded in individually apparently in order to do that I need to give the container different instance names..however I don't know how to extend the code inorder to achieve this..
Does anyone know of some good Tutorials on creating a preloader for external swfs. something like, having a container swf that all my external swfs will load in and out of, including the preloader swf.
I have a menu files that loads all the swf clips I have in another folder.I did it in an array so that it calls to the clip and then plays it in the movieclip I have in the menu flash file. And yes, I use Actionscript 2.0.My question is, how can I make a player control that will skip to the previous swf that has been played.I have a rewind button already, but it doesn't rewind through the previously-played swfs.I'm trying to think of a code that will load the previous swf file played in the array when a button is clicked.Similarly, I would like to do that with a forward button and simply have it move to the next swf in the array line up.I'll just tweak a little bit of the code I'd have for the previous swf button.I just don't know where to begin. It seems like I almost have it figured out, but I'm just missing a key element.
