ActionScript 2.0 :: Create Movement Rather Than Tweens?

I'd be very interested to see how this motion is achieved with actionscript alone and not with tweening. This is the scenario I would like to see - two buttons that dont move of course When button one is pressed a green square slides in nice and smoothly using actionscript. When button two is pressed, the green square slides out and is replaced with a blue square - so whenever on of the buttons is pressed, the square on screen slides out before the other one slides in.
It would also be good if the green square and blue squares were in their own swf files and loaded into levels rather than an empty movie clip.

I'm pulling data from xml and using a for loop to have each line of text appear on screen. I want to have each of these ease in. I don't know the number or size in advance, so each textfield is created dynamically.What I've tried to do is dynamically create a tween for each dynamically created textfield, but I just can't seem to get the syntax right. I was wondering if there was a way to create a delay between tweens? for example i want one object to tween and then half way before that first tween finishes, a 2nd tween starts

I'm trying to create 2 separate motion tweens - between frame 1 to frame 35 and frame 36 to 65 but it just won't work.
From frame 1 I want a motion tween to frame 35. We shall call the graphic in frame 1, graphic 1 and frame 35 graphic 2.
Graphic 3 represents frame 35 and graphic 4, frame 36.
When I make a motion tween from frame 1 to 35, it overwrites graphic 3 and 4 with Graphic 1. It will not allow me to put graphic 3 into frame 35, only graphic 1. If i put it in, it will automatically swap.
When I make a motion tween from frame 36 to 65, it works. But then when I try to make the motion tween from frame 1 to 35, it swaps it over.

How can I create several tweens with different names in a for-loop?
I want to create one tween named tween0, one tween named tween1 etc. up to tween9.

I'm trying to create a flash animation of a wing flapping using three keyframes. The first keyframe is at frame 1. I then created a second keyframe at frame 5 by pressing F6, and then I created another keyframe at frame 10 by pressing F6. At frame 5, I rotated the wing so that it is going up. Frame 10 is the same as frame 1.frame 1: frame 5: frame 10: I right clicked on a frame between frames 5 and 10 and then clicked the first optio , "Create Motion Tween"; I then performed the same action on a frame between frames 1 and 5. When I preview or test the movie, there is no transition between the frames. From frame 1 to 5, there is supposed to be a transition of the wing flapping up. From frame 5 to 10, there is supposed to be a transition of the wing flapping downwards to its initial position. Instead, when I test the movie, the wing remains still until frame 5 and instantly goes to its "wing up state" and when it gets to frame 10, instantly goes to its "wing down state". Here is what the timeline looks like after I've made the changes mentioned above:
I'm using Flash CS4 to make the animation but the tutorial I'm following is using Flash CS3. I know I can use other methods to create the motion tween but I want to know why the method I'm using isn't working.

When I want to ask for a small fee for my app, I'm not allowed to use TweenLite. So I started thinking I could probably replace the tweens with Flash's built-in Tweens. BUT I'm also using rotationY. Flash doesn't support this as far as I know. Are there Tween engines out there with a copyleft?

how to use AS to create movement with easing in AND out?
I was trying to get an mc spin according to the speed of the mouse. So when I move my mouse quickly, the object starts spinning faster and faster, but after reaching it's maximum speed, it slows down again.

I'm working on a slide show which includes 3 sections that fade in and out automatically as well as can be navigated via buttons.Everything is working fine until I include a 3d tween animation of a hanging sign.it doesn't have any action script - just a 3d tween where the sign swings however once I include it in the slide show, the whole thing goes crazy:The fade in and out of tweens don't work.sometimes the slide show skips and everything start moving very fast as if the timeline was fast forwarded... can someone please helpe me and point me in the right direction of where to even start trouble shooting it? The problem is that it acts as if there was some kind of script added however there's no action script included in the hanging sign.

i'm creating a game in Flash 5.... it involves a character (moved by player) avoiding an enemy in a maze like area...... (think Pacman)....now, i've done my charater and maze..... but i've not started on d enemy.... i've read some tutes on random movement but it doesn't involve a maze like area....it juz cuts across d screen randomly...

I am just learning actionscript, and your site has been able to clarify a number of things for me. With that said my question is this: In your tutorial you used the following code to create horizontal movement: AS]onClipEvent(enterFrame) { speed = 10; this._x += speed; }[/AS] how would you create a continuous loop of this movement (ie. make the movie move horizontally across the screen over and over).

All i need is to add is mouse movement so when you scroll up down left right the movie clip moves about 50pixels in each direction..any tutorial script I have found does not add a width and height restriction making me drag the movie off the screen.

I'm working for a client that wants me to create an interactive map, which I can zoom in/out, move the map around, have a minimap guide, and other goodies. I've got the bulk of it created, but I got stuck trying to create a gamepad type controller which the user can click on, and it will move the map.
What I'm trying to do is this: The gamepad graphic I created is like a typical Playstation/X-box style thumbpad controller. There are an up, down, left, and right arrows graphic which the user can click to make the map go up, down, etc. (I have created code to let the users use the keyboards, in case they don't want to use the graphics)
Is it possible to create a continous movement when the mouse is pressed, or will my poor user be stuck clicking the mouse ad-nauseum?

I'm trying to create a simple image player that tweens from one image to the next every 5 seconds. The data is being pulled from xml.
So far, I have managed to load the image onto the stage, but am now stuck as to how to get it to remove the child showing, the add the next child every 5 seconds.

For some reason I cannot Create Motion Tweens. I have followed step by step instructions, and using exercise files from Lynda. The symbol from the Lynda files is a movie clip, and I resize it according to the demo - step by step. Selecting "Create Motion Tweens" from the menu does not actually create motion tweens. I have also tried from scratch in new files. I am using CS4 on Windows 7, and I have created motion tweens before. I must have made some change somewhere else in Flash to cause this to stop working.

I'm trying to develop an infinite menu (horizontal scroller) for a Portfolio. It works but not properly the way it should. After few loops the images get out of sync I don't know why. And if possible can you also help to add some easing to the movement? What I did was, I add to instances of the menu one called menu and another called menu1. I have a mc (fStrip) which looks like a piece of filmstrip with thumbnail images in it. I want this mc to move when the users mouse is positioned over it, but I only want it to move only along it's x-axis and in a direction opposite that of the mouse. And I want it to move or flow smoothly.
I've been trying to figure this out (see my lame attempt below) but without much luck.

I wish to get the effect of ants scuttering across the screen or up a tree, I have not decided which direction yet. I started with the tutorial code for the snow effect from kirupa, and changed it around to fit the little vector ant I created. The way I have it now looks pretty good, but the movement is a little too fluid. They obviously move in sinusoidal paths bc the code tells them to. I have about 20 copies of the main obj, and they're all a little different in size and specs (speed, transparency, etc) but what I was wondering was if there is any way I can change the code to make it a little more hectic, or erratic, not so fluid. If there is no way of doing so, it looks pretty good right now. If there is, however, I think it could look awesome. here's the code I'm using for the object.

I have a Mogli (Junglebook-like) Character that i got to move with the arrow keys on the keyboard.
I want the character to jump (so for example , he must while moving to the right of the "gamearea" , you must be able to hit a key (say for example the "control" key ) and then the character must jump ( go up ) and as soon as the key is released he must obviously come down.
And also how do one set movement speed on any particular movement.
