I have figured out how to create the flash file which will overlay the page, with all elements centered, from here: kirupa forums tutorial.
The only thing I cannot figure out is how to attach the Close button which would come at the top right. AS3 is not allowing me to attach any behaviour to the button, neither does it allow me to put actionscript there. I am in dire straits.
I have a timeline with a movie clip with the instance 'first'. this is a series of logo with buttons that move from left to right. you can click and drag them right or left, and when you roll over them, it pauses the movie.
The problem is now I need to make each logo link to a url.When I add for eg:[URL]..to the button within the movie, it does not work, it doesn't open up the url? Any ideas what actionscript or changes I need to make to allow each button to link to a url??

View 1 RepliesMy animation contains a button which 'hovers' or 'lightly floats' on the stage. The object and motion tween creating the 'hover' is in a movieclip which I then applied to a button symbol. When I test my swf and scroll over the button, the motion tween within the button skips back to the beginning. Is there a way to get a smoother transition?
PS. I put the button into a movieclip with the a motion tween and it doesn't seem to work properly.

My problem is when I try to create start drag stop drag on top of these swf's horizontally - I want to be able to move the whole stage horizontally containing separate columns.
I am not sure how to code it and it ends up locking the "start drag top drag" inside the columns. How can I do this so that each column is scrollable and scroll to other columns without using a scroll bar...

I'm working on an ezine, using the pageflip v2.11 from [url].... I can't get it to flip the covers unless they aren't hardcovers. It's killing me. All they do is show the shadow mask flipping, and not the page. I also have trouble with playing an mc, while it is located on the page. It reloads back to the beginning when you mouse over the corner of the page.

View 17 RepliesI'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

I tried using a ToolTipManager to create a tooltip but since Tooltips appear in their own layer in Flex and, as far as I am able to figure, cannot be anchored to any part of the page. View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a button which displays an animation when the mouse hovers over it, and then performs an exit animation when it hovers out. I've looked at many of the major tutorials for this without success.The one I'm looking at right now, basically gets the user to create a movie clip containing an animation of a button at different states ('up', 'over' and 'out'). It then uses actionscript to play some of the sequence on rollOver, and the rest of the sequence on rollOUT. It then asks for this code to be pasted on an actions layer on the main stage:
1. btn1_mc.buttonMode = true;
2. btn1_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,onBu ttonOver);
3. btn1_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT,onBut tonOut);

The weird thing is that I downloaded the .fla file from the tutorial page and managed to get my button working by pasting it in there, but when pasting that back into my movie, this error returned.
I have a red square that I want to drag only on the x-axis. I've worked out a simple script, which theoretically should work, but it's not behaving properly. It's a bit hard to explain..the square keeps starting at the wrong position and the stage position seems to be changing so sometimes you can't drag the square all the way to the right...

Drag and Drop: Could someone point me to a script that will handle startDrag and stopDrag better than the stock methods? I once saw something that was sooo smooth/responsive and I would love to have that look. I believe it used updateAfterEvent but did not use start or stop drag at all.
