I'm working on an asteroids type game and i'm on the shooting aspect of the game. i was wondering how i would get the bullets to fly in the same direction as the ship when it was fired but not to turn when the ship turns... what i've got so far is:

'm testing functions to make myself a First Player Shooter game and now I have problem with the fire delay. I want a limit of let's say 1 shot per second. I thought that maybe restricting the clickings counted, so it doesn't register the mouse clicks too close to eachother. Or put some kind of interval at the functions delaying the sound and event function, but that seems too hard.

I'm pretty new to actionscript and so but I manage to read and understand and alter other people's code a little. I'm testing functions to make myself a First Player Shooter game and now I have problem with the fire delay. I want a limit of let's say 1 shot per second. How do I do that?

I am trying to make a bowling alley type of game. I want the ball to change angle when it reaches the gutter, but the problem I am facing is, how can I check when the ball has reached the gutter as the bounding box for a line/box in perspective is bigger and I want to check any point on the line when the ball is passing/crossing that point and moving so that I can change its angle and direction. And also does anybody have a collision method algorithm or physics to create the falling of PINS when the ball hits the PINS.

i have a scroller developed in as2. it basically scrolls continuously in a direction until the direction of the mouse is changed. the images of course loop in the continuous scroll. now the problem is that for 10-15 photos its ok. but when i feed it with 180 photos, it seems to show only 11. why would this be? any restriction on flash ??

I'm trying to get my head round bitmapData and everything you can do with it. I'm using pure AS3 at the moment.I've been playing with some Perlin noise examples - worked ok - and tried writing another image (png) onto the bitmapdata.The new image is EMBEDed in the as3 code:

have a ball with the name of mc which can be moved using the keyboard .. when you press the left mouse button shoots the ball, this ball and the other flies in the face where the cursor was in the shot .. but if you move the cursor to another location and shoot a second time then the second ball is also flying in the direction of the cursor and the first ball change direction toward a second shot ..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Context Menu Difficulties On Nested Movie Clip

I have been having some difficulties with custom context menus with CS5.5 and AS3. I have this working in 2 places: - The FLA file which I use to develop this in (I work within an FLA, but distill everything down to an AS3 based Sprite which can be instantiated via code provided the various symbols are in the library) - In an test harness. (I ensure that the Sprite can be instantiated through pure Actionscript)

The custom context menu works perfectly in both the above scenarios. However, in my main application (which is a good deal more complicated than my test harness) I see the default context menu. All other mouse events on my nested clip work perfectly.

Is there some limitation with the Context menu in AS3? My code looks fine. It pretty much corresponds to the vast majority of Context menu implementations - so feel like there is something I am missing from the bigger picture.

I am going to develop a very simple game for android and for iphone/ipad I have the option to develop it in cocos2d or in adobe flash air (i am not a developer, but i have 2 developers who are offering me the service)I have a developer that states that cocos2d is better and other one that states that adobe flash air.I want it in cross platform.the cost offered by both developers is the same..i have heard that adobe air has the flaw that it is very slow, is this real? if you had the 2 options which will you use to develop your game and why?

I set up some code to record key presses and specific chords. My problem is that I only want the keys to fire once when pressed. This is especially a problem when I require the user to hold CTRL + LEFT for an action.

The user experience is that I want users to hold down CTRL to enter a mode and then press the LEFT key as many times as needed. Currently, the CTRL trace and LEFT trace fire continuously. Is there a way to do a onKeyRelease?

IDE :: SoundChannel.SOUND_COMPLETE Won't Fire

i have a little flash-player with a playlist and so, it plays normally a vlc-mp3-stream but has an extended prelisten-function (wich plays the mp3's directly via http, secured with a password)i've got an array with 2 Sound()-objects (for preloading purposes), the code looks like this :

This may seem totally impossible - but I can't get any script to fire off the timeline. I have been given an fla, big animation about 15000 frames long, and no script will run from the timeline. I have tried everything - reset classpaths, delete ASO file, rebuilt a fresh project from the original project's layers... There are no compiler errors If anyone has experienced this then lend me a hand...I'm about to tear my last piece of hair out!

im trying to create a tamagotchi game type game. For some reason i can not add any items to the stage.Currently i have imported 2 png images to the stage and coverted them to movie clips. One is called TamagotchiCharacter and the other is called Beer. I have also created a new 2 AS3.0 script class called TamagotchiGame and DraggableItem. The following is TamagotchiGame:
