I have an array of menu items that I'm trying to display in a sequence with a short delay between showing each item in 3 columns. Without manually creating individual text fields and putting them on many frames, how would I do this with actionscript?

Im working on a small drag and drop project and for the life of me I cant seem to work out how to get my movie to delay before it goes to the next frame.
Basically when a clip is dropped onto the target I need a short delay of about 5 seconds before going to frame 2.
I know that I need to set a variable but cant work out how to utilise it [code]...
I have a short animation that I want to pause for 5 seconds and then play again. Now I am using acionScript 2 to get this done.

Now this works the first 2 times. But when the third time rolls around it seems to start and the start again. This progressively gets worse as time goes on.
Im currently working on a script which will dynamically create letters and then play the sound of each letter.
I can get the script to work but for some reason it doesnt seem to play the 1st sound the 1st time I click on the button to exectute the function.[code]...
I have a preloader that works fine when I test i with flash. I publish it and then go to View and Simulate Download. Everything works fine.
But when I upload it to my server it works fine util I hit the reload button, all it does is do the short intro animation to display the preloader and just sits there.
I have attatched the preloader class wich is pretty straight forward.

I'm trying to create a Flex DataGrid where the firstname and lastname are shown under each other, but in the DataGridColumn
Ideally I would want to do something like

so that both values get passed to the itemrenderer, is this possible?

View 5 RepliesUsing a for loop I've created a few instances of a movieclip, but I'm having trouble trying to having them appear one after the other at an increasing pace.
For example, I want the first clip to show with a delay around 2 seconds and the last with almost no delay.
So far I've only been able get Timer or setInterval to have a single delay setting.
I'm not coming up with anything other than coding on the timeline which I'm trying to avoid.
The flex title window component is nice and all, but before it shows up it insists on blurring out the background of your window if it's set to modal. What if I want it to just show up immediately or at least speed it up so that the user doesn't have to wait around to enter data. Am I going to have to build a custom component based on TitleWindow to get this or not have it be modal? If I were to do that could I extend current TitleWindow or just copy out the source directly?

I have flash movie that I'm loading other movieclips and swfs into.At the moment when I load in a new swf, the timeline plays through the intro sequence, then when I select new content to load into replace it the movie simply vanishes without showing the outro sequence.It's been puzzling me for a while now but i've seen it used on many flash sites so i'm guessing there's definately a way to do it.

I have a list of objects containing an icon, a label, and a tooltip. I want to show only the icon and the label. The tooltips should be visible on mouse over an item.
Is there a way i can achieve this without writing my own mouse-over/out functions?
(notice that dataTips are a different thing as they are displayed only when the label is cut)
I'm using a linkbar and viewstack. However, I don't want each viewstack item showing up on the linkbar, but I still have to navigate to the viewstack item.

i m doing a program which contain few text. When i click a button,'step 1' text will be view. When i second, 'step 2 ' text will be load out and 'step 1' text is still in the stage.. the method i m using is array.i put my text in an arrays.

I've build a simple video chat application. The problem is that there is a delay of seconds between video display i.e. user1 video motion change displayed bit late at the user2 window. I'm using FMS 3.5 and FLEX.. IS THIS PROBLEM RELATED TO THE BANDWIDTH. My FMS bandwidth is 256kbps.

View 4 RepliesI've got a QNX Picker control that isn't displaying the selected values when there's only one item in the picker. For example:

The result is a blank picker. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. When there are 2 items in the arr Array, the picker actually shows the selected Indices. How do I get the picker to display the selected item when there is only 1 item to choose from? I'm using Burrito, with Playbook SDK 0.9.3.

when click on combobox it drops down and display items but when make selected specific item, it doesn't display.

I have a datagrid that loads content from a database. Once the data has been loaded I have a function that has
selectedIndex=0;
Right after that I call another function that tries to display the selected item across a couple of labels. The problem is nothing loads in the labels unless I run the functions twice. I'm guessing its some sort of data race problem where the item hasn't been selected by the time the function that displays the items in labels runs. How can I get the item to be selected before the next function runs.
