I have this XML that I need to read into flash.
I want to display one of the temperatures in the xml.
For instance, say I want to display the temperature for 'Sydney'.[code]...
If I was trying to link to a specific rss feed item link would I have to load it into an array and identify each tag in the item as its own object and access the url from there or can I access it from the current XML obj that is holding the feed?

It works fine and loads the XML inside the flash authoring environment (ie when i preview with crtl+enter), or when I make an executable projector, but when I try to run the SWF by double-clicking, or when the SWF is on the webserver, the text box doesn't display the data...
I'm trying to write some apps that will include some image processing for facial, object recognition. There's a ton of stuff out there (mostly from 2009) that doesn't work very well and I want to give it a try.
Anyway, I have the webcam feeding a video object I've addChild()ed to the stage and that works aces. I want to make a copy of that video stream and plop it on the stage right next to it. This works, but the framerate suffers:

So this puts a pixelated version of the webcam feed right next to it just like I wanted, but it seems to lug down the processor. Logic would tell me that I'm piling on infinate amounts of "goat" to my movieClip (mc). I try to dispose() the bmp, but then it stops working.
I want to read the RSS feed from a website and display the texts extracted for that RSS with animation.
View 4 RepliesI have an AS3 file that pulls an XML feed from a site. All the file does is display a number in a dynamic text box. On my desktop it works fine the feed is parsed in the output window and in the dynamic text box, joy! I upload the file to the CMS we are using and, no joy all I get is 'Loading' in the window. I get Loading because I input that in the tf so it wouldn't be blank.
So the question is, is there a fundamental flaw in my code or is it more likely to be the CMS? Im hoping it is the code, otherwise it is back to the drawing board.

I'm using the jQuery oembed plugin to display videos from a Vimeo feed. The only problem is they display over the top of my navigation menu. I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. However, passing this as a parameter to the oembed function makes no difference.

But when I initialize the code for one of the menu items after it's clicked I don't know how to get 2 of the items from the stage elements code to be on top of the display list. Because, as the code for the menu item loads the two stage elements are going to cover the items from that code and after its loaded its going to open up and show them the items that are loaded from the menu item code.
View 4 RepliesI've got a QNX Picker control that isn't displaying the selected values when there's only one item in the picker. For example:

The result is a blank picker. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. When there are 2 items in the arr Array, the picker actually shows the selected Indices. How do I get the picker to display the selected item when there is only 1 item to choose from? I'm using Burrito, with Playbook SDK 0.9.3.

when click on combobox it drops down and display items but when make selected specific item, it doesn't display.

I have a datagrid that loads content from a database. Once the data has been loaded I have a function that has
selectedIndex=0;
Right after that I call another function that tries to display the selected item across a couple of labels. The problem is nothing loads in the labels unless I run the functions twice. I'm guessing its some sort of data race problem where the item hasn't been selected by the time the function that displays the items in labels runs. How can I get the item to be selected before the next function runs.

What I want to do is, when I select an item in the datagrid, the selected item of the dropdown should be the correct one (the one which has the field idCompSuperioara equal to the third element in the selected datagrid row).
I'm creating a mobile app in which I need to show a calendar with months at the top. The months are part of a component that extends from SkinnableDataContainer (and has some custom scrolling/behaviour - which is why I did'nt use a spark list). I need the months to be shown as a 'trapezium' shaped tab and so I'm using a png image as a mask in the item renderer for the component.
When the mask is not applied, it all works well - the months render, the list/data container selection works when I click on a month and so on.When the mask is applied, it renders well, scrolling and everything else seems to work well - but when I click on a month, nothing happens visually. And from the trace statements in my code, it appears list item selection is not changing. Looks like mouse clicks are not working.

I have used states in my application.The thing is I have made the first item in my list to be selected. so I gave like this,
