I have this simple navigation menu. There are 2 problems:

1) How to keep the button "active" once it is clicked?

2) The animation stops working if i move the mouse very quickly over the menu.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Highlight Active Menu Item Until Another One Clicked

Feb 11, 2010

I have a menu with about 5 items, they all work great with this code on each one:
Code:
on (release) {
if (_root.link<>1) {
_parent["b"+_root.link].play();
_root.link = 1;
_root.play();
}}
(The number 1 changes 2-5 depending on button)

Works great, now.. When I hover over a menu item is turns green, I click it, it takes me to the right page, but I want it to stay green. And when I click another page I want the other menu item to turn green and all other revert back to regular. How do I do this?

Dec 17, 2004

I have a menu with five nav buttons (atcually MovieClips). Each has three frame labels: "on", "stay", and "off". The rollover and rollout animations play flawlessly, but I'm at a loss as to how to give each button a sticky "active" state. I'd like the button to stay in it's active state until another button is clicked, then I would like it to play it's "off" animation. Each MC has this code:

Professional :: Make A Button Active If Another Button Is Clicked?

Dec 13, 2010

I want to make a button (or graphic) active and visible if another button is clicked. But it must be invisible and unclickable before the other button is clicked. (this is a "find the differences between the 2 pictures game" and I want circles to appear over the differences that the user finds but only after he clicks it)

The button (or graphic) I want to become active has instance name of "sockcircle_btn" The button you click to make it appear is called "sock_btn"

In the first frame of the sockcircle_btn layer, this is my code

sockcircle_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,sockcircledisable);
function sockcircledisable(evt:MouseEvent):void{
sockcircle_btn.mouseEnabled = false;
}

In the sock_btn frame (frame 3) this is my code

sock_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,sockcircleenable);
function sockcircleenable(evt:MouseEvent):void{
sockcircle_btn.mouseEnabled = true;
}

The file is setup to loop between frames 2-3. But the sockcircle_btn never enables even when sock_btn is clicked.

I want to have a button with a rollover state that is different that the out state. I got that part, but I also want to keep the rollover state active if clicked. I can think of a couple ways to do it but I'm certain there is an easier way to do it. I have about 8 buttons and when I click on on I want that to stay in the rollover state, then when I click on another one I want the first to go back to the out state and the new one that I clicked to go to the over state and stay there.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Next / Prev Frame - Opening Menu When Button Clicked

Jan 10, 2012

openMenu.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, openSubMenu);
function openSubMenu(event:MouseEvent):void {
this.openMenu.nextFrame();
} openMenu.closeMenu.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeSub);
function closeSub(event:MouseEvent):void {
this.openMenu.prevFrame();
} stop();

I've got the above code on my first frame, and was hoping that it would open a menu when a button was clicked, and once the button within the MC is clicked it would then close. Hence the nextFrame and prevFrame actions.

I keep getting TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Animated Flash Menu - Button Over State Stays If Clicked?

Dec 7, 2008

I made a Flash menu with this tutorial:[URL]The animation is different but the scripting is basically the same. I have animated buttons (They're actually movie clips though) that play one animation on rollover, and a different animation on rollout.

What I want to do, is have the button stay on the over state if it's clicked, (so people know what page they're on) until another button is clicked in which case it would do the rollout animation, and then the new button would stay clicked.

[URL]

But the scripting is different I'm not sure how to make it work with what I already have, and I don't really want to start over completely.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dropdown Menu Buttons Appear But Not Active

Mar 3, 2010

I'm currently working on an AS3 scripted drop down menu and for the most part it works exactly like I had envisioned with one small hiccup. The issue I have is if you accidentally navigate away from a button that creates one of my drop downs before the script has finished running the other drop down buttons will drop down but not be active until you go back to the original button and finish the script. What I believe will fix the problem is to disable the other main menu buttons until the script has finished. I could just disable at the beginning of the script and enable at the end but there are 5 flyouts and 9 buttons on the main menu. This would add up to a ton of extra code. So how could I create a block of code that disables the buttons and another block that will enable them at the end of the script but be able to call them in each script?
And here is my site that I'm currently working on. [URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu Items Will Not Show As Active?

Feb 13, 2012

I'm updating this site for a client:

[URL]

I can't get "Motion" and "Press" to show as active. Basically this is done via a gotoAndPlay function, but it's not working. In addition, the code also deactivates the menu item when it's active; so, if I was on "Profile" before going to "Web" or "Press," that item remains inactive once I've clicked on "Web" or "Press," so I can't click on "Profile" again until I go to any of the other pages.

Below is the code for the navigation. Also, there is an external file named BookSection.as that I believe contains the code we would need to edit, I just can't figure out what it is - I've tried several edits.

You can find here (I couldn't upload since I don't have more than 50 posts):

[URL]

ActionScript Code:
mLogo.gotoAndStop("complete");
// PRINT------------------------------------------
booksButton.onRelease = function()

ActionScript 3 :: Menu With Active State Shown On Click

Jan 18, 2010

Ive got a simple menu that upon hover of each item, plays a movie clip, then on mouse_out it plays the movie clip in reverse. What I'm trying to do is to have a third state (active) that is shown upon clicking. I'm thinking I need to do something along the lines of:
-When clicked, gotoAndStop(5) //Five being the location of my active frame
-Also remove the event listener that triggers the function to play the movie in reverse.
-Then when another menu item is clicked, re-add the event listener to the previous menu item so it's not stuck 'active'

My code is as follows:
// Imports
import fl.transitions.*;
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
