We are planning an implementation that would be setup as automatic failover in the event of a disaster. We only have two physical servers (Windows 2008 R2 based). What is everyone's suggestion? I read a lot about origin-only cluster and origin-edge clusters. It seems like origin-only cluster would work best for this type of fail over but I'm not sure. We would most likely use Microsoft network load balancer built-in on Windows 2008 R2. We have the option of using remote storage but could also do local storage. The types of streaming would be videos loaded to the server (not live). Let me know any suggestions to achive an automatic failover with two physical systems
I am a bit stuck here for the past few days. I have a SWF running in Security.LOCAL_TRUSTED sandbox. I can load my JPEGs and simple SWFs without any problems
It is possible to make file transfer from air application via server?I think need to create like byte array streaming or somethink like this from sender and write the destination file on receiver user pc.
I have a problem with a dynamic video player that I have created in flash. The video player is "SCORM" compliant so that when the user clicks the "exit" button a class file is called to mark the user complete in an LMS.I have tested the SCORM Code previously and it works with out issue. Usually I have the completion code embedded in an Actions Layer of the movie. This is the first time I have attempted to call the completion status in a class file, I have added a "trace statement" when the movie is tested within flash it runs the trace statement properly, but when uploaded to the LMS environment the course does not complete properly
I am trying to create the simple thing by closing the switch as in image2 to glow the bulb can I achive it using adobe? The image1 is actual state & when i close(user event) the switch the state of the switch should change & bulb should glow. When I Open(again user event) the switch the state of the switch should change to the original state as in Image1.

this['dinamicallynamedmc'+dinamicnum].addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, myFunk);how do I know which dinamically named MC was clicked?the function myFunkinstead of making a myFunk1-8 for each of the dinamically named mc's, is there a way i can figure what was clicked on? by instance name or something else. I plan to make a case for it then depending on which one was cliced, go to a URL.
step1- I got an xml that is locally loaded(works fine) step2- the content goes into a datagrid that is displayed (works fine) step3- In AS3 I dynamically add some lines to this xml file(works fine) step4- I save it locally (works fine) step5-and want the datagrid to be updated..(works not-so-well)
So, in step 4, the data is saved into the xml file, but in order to finish the save, the user has to click on the "Save as" windows in order to have the file updated of course.. and that's where's my problem, how can i tell flash to wait till the user actually saves the file, before reload the xml file in the datagrid ? here's the code :
I want to know the 'file path' when an user selects a file from 'any location' on his hard disk. I like to know is it possible to fetch the entire file URL instead of the file name alone?
Code: var fileRef= new FileReference(); fileRef.addListener(mylistener); mylistener.onOpen = function(file){ [Code]....
Is it possible to control one loaded SWF File eg.(MOVIE-1.swf) from another loaded SWF file eg.(MOVIE-0.swf) on a different level? eg. with a syntax like:
I unserstand security restrictions about working with clipboard. The user must do an action then clipboard may be written.
But what if on mouseclick i have to load some text from server using URLRequest and copy obtained data to clipboard?
Like this:
protected function clickHandler(e:MouseEvent):void { this.fileReference = new FileReference(); this.fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, this.fileSelectHandler);
I want to save a jpg of dynamically loaded swf's to the user's computer. Everything works great, except the loaded swf's don't appear in the jpg (everything on the stage renders fine). Any thoughts?
I need to call FileReference.save() after a web service call has completed, but this method has a restriction: "In Flash Player, you can only call this method successfully in response to a user event (for example, in an event handler for a mouse click or keypress event). Otherwise, calling this method results in Flash Player throwing an Error exception." (from the documentation here)
This restriction is a bit vague. Does it mean that I can only call the FileReference.save() method from within an event handler function that is registered as a listener for certain types of user events? If so then exactly which user events are valid? (Perhaps there's an event that will never be dispatched by user interaction with my application and I could register an event handler function for that event type and make the save() call from within that function?)
My difficulty is that I can't safely call the FileReference.save() method until my web service returns with the data that will be used as the argument of the FileReference.save() method call, so the event that triggers the FileReference.save() call is actually a ResultEvent rather than a user event, and I'm leery of dispatching a new (faux) user event type in order to be able to trigger the FileReference.save() call unless it's definitely a user event that would never be dispatched as a result of actual user interaction with my application.
In a nutshell what I'm doing now is this: I have a function that is registered as a handler for a button click. In this function I make my web service call to fetch data from the server. I also have a result handler function which gets invoked when the web service call completes, and it's in here that I want to call the FileReference.save() method since it's at this point that I know that the data is ready to be saved to a file. But the aforementioned restriction is blocking me from doing this -- I get an error:
Error #2176: Certain actions, such as those that display a pop-up window, may only be invoked upon user interaction, for example by a mouse click or button press.
I've tried many things to get around this such as creating a second mouse click event handler function with the FileReference.save() call within and calling it after a timeout interval (to give the web service time to complete), but I keep running into the same error -- maybe that approach doesn't work since the second function isn't registered as an event listener for the event type used as its argument.
I'm trying to setup an interface where an event is triggered by the user pressing a key on the keyboard. So far I have the following code in a button on the stage:
Code: on (keyPress "a"){ trace("you pressed a") } on (keyPress "b"){
[code]...
Which works fine. I was wondering if there was a way to either remove the case sensitive properties of the keypress action, or to force the keyboard to return a caps lock or something. The only way I can think of doing it so far would be something like this:
Code: on (keyPress "a"){ trace("you pressed a") } on (keyPress "A"){
[code]...
Which obviously will double the amount of code needed - especially as the event for a small c and a capital C would be the same.
I'm trying to listen to the mouseWheel event when a user hovers an object and scroll the mouse wheel. My problem is that the event only dispatches when the object with the listener has been clicked.
After the object (or the stage) has been clicked the mouseWheel event dispatches as expected.
How can I make it dispatch witchout clicking the stage/object? I've attached a simple sample file to show you what I mean. Hover the colored box and use the mouse wheel. Then click anywhere on the stage and hover the box again and use the mouse wheel.
Within my application I'm using a Scroller component. I can't seem to figure out which event I should set up a listener on in order to know when content is scrolled. I tried Event.CHANGE on Scroller.verticalScrollBar property but apparently that event doesn't fire when the user scrolls with a mouse wheel or arrow keys.
I have create a game and added keydown event on Stage but but problem is user need to click on stage then it start capturing keydown event. I want that when game window open after that user don't need to click on flash stage area for unable keydown event..
I'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.
I ve been searching for this but nothing. I need to use an event generated when the site is loaded for the very first time (to manage the resize of the stage). That's beacuse the event "resizestage" is generated only when i resize it, so the first time the site had been loaded, the size is not modified.
I dispatched a Custom Event from topic1.swf but its not reflect to main.swf how to do that...?.. is it not possible here... and how to access a public variable/method of topic1.swf from main.swf..
I will try to be as clear as I can. I have an existing swf file that I want to add Play,Pause, FF and Rewind via an externally loaded swf file that has the controls contained in it.I am loading an external swf file that has all of the controls on it via this code:
// Set up the Mouse to use a listener var mouseListener = new Object(); Mouse.addListener(mouseListener);

I am doing this so I can rollover the viewing window and have it appear. I cannot get any code to work to control the timeline (which is broken down into sections with individual MC's in each section.
What I am looking for is the code to apply to the buttons on the external swf file that has the controls to control the playing of the movie.
it's possible to have a user generate a file (.txt is fine), using a flash module i created, and based on their answers to certain questions within my flash module, all created in flash cs3.
im trying to load a php file and user id how would i write this in as3, i can do it like this in php test.php?id=$idbut how would i do the same in as3 [code]
I want to make a small application that allows the user to go through XML data thats put in a XML file. To make it more organized and so I can use the code later I also want to use classes and the MVC method.
All I want to have the user interact with is: A textbox A back button A forward button
The app should load up the XML file in an array and display the first line in the textbox, and then the user can go through each line with the forward/back buttons.
I have a flash file that is 1.5mb in size. As it takes about 6 minutes for someone on dialup to load this file, I have created a smaller swf file and loaded the larger one from it but I don't want the larger one to begin to play until it's fully downloaded. How do I set this up? I have set up the action script 2 as follows: loadMovieNum("top2.swf", 0);
on clicking the Search Icon , a search bar will be visible (ON) if user click anywhere on the stage the search bar will be NO visible(OFF) OR user click on ICON again the search bar will be OFF but it Stage CLICK is triggered without clicking
I have a swf that uses a Loader to load in another swf. I want to wait until the child swf is loaded until I display it, so I have an event listener for when it's complete. The problem is that the child swf has its own children, so it comes back as being complete before its children (the grandchildren) are loaded, and therefore is being displayed while things still are popping up.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to make sure that the children of the child are loaded before returning as complete.I was thinking I could add listeners on all the children that then increment a variable until it is equal to an expected number (number of loaders) and then run a function on the parent to display itself, but that seems like a last resort solution.
