I am specifically looking to write for the blackberry playbook, but I'm going to try the cross platform deployment for iOS and Android too. I do have FlashDevelop setup, my playbook emulator, and I made the simple "hello world" app. So I'm ready to start laying out some basic controls....once I find a good reference.

Dec 31, 2011I'm trying to use google maps in my wpf c# project, I've installed Adobe Flash player but cannot for the life of me find the shockwave player object reference or when I add a new item in the toolbox find in, both in the COM lists. I had to download and install flash using internet explorer.

Jul 19, 2011In terms of HTTP request performance should I pick AJAX or Flash? To be more specific, I'm more into Flash than AJAX and I'm currently working on a wide scale web project. I wanted to try AJAX out for once and now it's getting too messy for me. Before it gets more complicated I thought may be I can run Flash on the background for HTTP Requests and use it with javascript. I couldn't find any benchmark on the Internet, but I think AJAX is faster than Flash. So what's your personal experience? Is there too much difference between Flash and AJAX?

Aug 18, 2009So I downloaded a trial of CS4, opened the .fla file he sent me and had a prod around.Slowly it started to make sense, except for numerous references to procedures that I just can't find.e.g. a button might call _root.graph.gotoAndStop("start");_root.graph.clearGraphMovies();but can I find any other reference to "graph" other than the calls? Notice that I have 4 calls to console.log. The first 3 fire, but after the new GATracker statement, the 4th does not fire. I have a feeling that I'm overriding the entire package with the object created from new GATracker when I should be passing a different context. I believe the correct context I should pass is whatever this defaults to when not inside of a package/external file, I assume it references the main stage object.

Aug 20, 2009The template is built under Flash and has .swf, .fla and html files and was setup on an html background. To make things look nice I decided to use an XML web template as a background to his template. The problem starts from there.The XML web template allows us to add our own SWF files, so I decided to add the swf file of my friend's template.
The swf file was set to "noscale" and when I imported it into the web template it didn't fit properly. So I took the "noscale" off from the actionscript and imported it again. Even then the scaling of the swf file was not correct.As soon as you load the file, it scales towards the left and not center.My question is how can I write a code within the fla file so that when the swf file is loaded it automatically centers itself?2nd question is how can I setup the dimensions of the file as in terms of height and width of the file without getting it cropped. I tried to set it up from 840x610 to 650x430 however the swf content got chopped off (even with noscale off).

Sep 3, 2007I'm having this frustrating error showing up and I have no idea why. Let me show you my classes and see if you can spot anything wrong.
First, here's my ILode interface:

So the problem I'm having is the compiler is throwing that 1000: Ambiguous reference error for any reference to instance.priority or instance.label. Why??? Instance is typed to IFlexLodeInstance, and IFlexLodeInstance lists method signatures of priority and label getters, and it inherits ILode, which lists method signatures for priority and label setters. What can I do to get the compiler to stop complaining?

Get Flash Buttons To Work...'Cannot Find Path' Flash MX 2004?
May 7, 2009I am trying to get the flash buttons for my website to work, but every time I do the getURL thing it keeps saying 'Cannot find(directory)'. The website is offline and I'm using Macromedia Flash MX 2004, I also might be able to use Flash 8 but these are the only two versions I have access to.The action script for the button is:

I am making the website in Dreamweaver 8 and this is really holding me back as it's nearly finished but the buttons still don't work.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Creating And Having Flash Find Custom Packages?
Jun 14, 2010I'm just getting off the ground as an AS3 programmer and I'm having a lot of trouble getting Flash to recognize my packages. My intention is to keep a code library of all my AS3 source data and have Flash simply go fetch classes from there.
I have set Flash's source path to the following to accommodate my library:
C:Documents and Settings<username>My DocumentsMy DropboxCodeAS3src
However, when I attempt to include a class into a .fla, Flash gives me an error that it can't find the AS class files in the .fla's folder at compile time. So it seems to not be detecting the AS class files in the source path I have set.
Within src, the folders are structured as follows:
srcsivyrmap<AS classes here>
In my AS files themselves, I have written the package and class declarations as follows:

How can I verify if the class is instantiated. I want to get rid of the 'cannot access a property of a null object or reference'.
I mean, the 'var object:Object;' is just a reference to an Object class instance. When i initialize it with 'object = new Object()' it runs the code in the constructor, initializing it. How can I check if it has been initialized or not.

If I rotate A by 10 degrees then the position of B with respect to A remains the same but position of B with respect to the system changes. To find Global X and Y of B, we have the function localToGlobal but it does not tell anything about the Z property. How to find that?
