I'm trying to add a login for running my flash movie. When the user clicks the login button, the text of the password field is authenticated, which allows gotoAndPlay(2) .
But the problem is both in my .swf and my projector .exe i can easily jump the login frame by pressing Ctrl+Enter .
When it starts, I switch tab to nr.2 (default is tab 1). I need to be able to hold down spacebar and drag the mouse to pan, but when I do this it switches back to the first tab. So the spacebar is triggering it to switch. I've tried using a custom lass that extends tabNavigator, like the code below, but it's not working. Also tried setting focusEnabled = false without luck.

When my focus is inside the input text field, pressing CTRL+ENTER works but ENTER does not.Pressing Enter when my focus is anywhere BUT the input text field works just fine..My intention is to detect if ENTER key was pressed after the user fills out the field, but it seems to only work for CTRL+ENTER

Without being able to modify the prototype chain, is it possible to fake multiple inheritance in AS3?
Say I have three Window classes. One is a DraggableWindow, one is a ScalingWindow, and one is a BorderWindow.
I want to mix and match new subclasses at runtime without having to make tons of new permutations of Window subclass possibilities.
Sure, I can implement these behaviors of the Window class as interfaces, but I would still have to account for all the permutations of interface combinations.
I'm learning AS3 and I'm trying to build a little interaction where I can throw a square off the stage. It just need to stay on the x-axis, to be thrown either to the left or right.I found quite a few tutorials where it involves physics. I don't need anything as complicated as that. With mine, as long as you click down on the square and throw it a bit, doesn'tmatter how hard that throwing action is, the square will always be thrown off the stage, depending on the direction of your mouse.I kind of have the idea in my head that the "throw" feel can be done with tween in a movieclip (since it only need to go to either left or right), which will be activated depending on the direction of the mouse.

But I have always wondered if there was a way to run a function with a MouseEvent parameter through code. Is there any way to fake a MouseEvent and send it as a parameter to the function?
I have yet to find a good and simple tutorial regaurding the skinning of the scrollBar component so I am trying to fake it...

I want a generic function that lets me align a child object to the bottom edge of a parent object. The problem is that the parent object can either be a simple movie clip or the Stage. With Stage, I would have to use the stageHeight property rather than the normal height propery.

Basically that method of fitting a bitmap texture onto a parallelogram, by splitting the parallelogram into two triangles and skew/shearing the two separate copies of the texture to be lined up with it's respective triangle.Senocular wrote a pretty good tutorial on it, but I'm stuck on some little details and or conceptual stuff, I'm not sure.First question, in the transform matrix, the b and c multipliers (skew and shear), what does it mean exactly? I played around with it and found that shearing by a factor of one, the angle formed by the slope (the slope of the two top or bottom 'points') of the shape was 45Ëš. So, 1 = 45; 0.5 = 22.5, etc. Am I on the right track or was the 45 angle observation just a coincidence? If so, how exactly do I find the skew factor?

I have a TextArea chat input and a button to send the text, the TextArea is multiline and so captures the Enter key to jump one line... What I need is to send the message with the Enter key and jump with a Ctrl+Enter combination... My ideas were to disable the bubbling of the Enter key, trap it, and then manually assign the Ctrl+Enter combination to jumping the line in TextArea but couldn't find how to do all this...
I listen to internet radio at [URL] and it works pretty well, except for one minor issue. The Flash applet that runs the radio player has a timer on it, where if you don't move the mouse over the player every once in a while, it decides you're idle and shuts off the stream, even if you're not actually idle, but just working on something else with the radio player running in the background.
Is there any way I can send a fake MouseOver message to this applet to keep it from cutting me off in the middle of a song, maybe with a GreaseMonkey script? I'm using Firefox.

I'm using Lee Brimlow's flv player tutorial as a model for my flv player so essentially it's driven via netstream coding. I've tried two different codes, code 1 being something I used a while back on another project and code 2 something I've been trying (hoping) would work better.

I've been posting a few things about input and dynamic text in Flash on here I know, but this one has just got me stumped. Do input text fields not recognize the spacebar? I was typing in my input text field in my movie, and noticed I couldn't add space between words.Any way to work around this, or is my little brain just missing something again?

Whenever theres 2+ notes together, all i have to do is hold down the button ( in this case space ) and it hits both of them without any penalty (which i havnt come across yet). But what i would liek it to do is that when u come across these notes you have to release space then press it again or else the note wont hit. Here is the code i am currently using.

Where hitspace is the part where the note has to come in contact with when u hit the note. and spacehitbad is the back where if the note hits that it means you have missed the note.
I am very new to flash and am putting together a simple presentation at work. When I save out my .swf file I have to press cmd+p to play the movie. I have been asked to change that to the spacebar.The movie simply plays through part of a presentation then stops. I need to be able to play the movie with the spacebar at each stop.

Skip to the bolded part below for just the question I have.I've been tasked with converting a Powerpoint presentation into a Flash presentation. I was considering manually doing it, but it seems like it would take an awful long time (240 slides, with videos and animations) - plus I don't know how to export the animations on individual slides over to Flash other than recreating them entirely.
I found a handful of programs on the Web that advertise that they will convert PPT to Flash (swf) and I tried a few to see which if any I should purchase. All of them had issues. Some either didn't run entirely or the end result was graphically ugly, videos weren't carried over (a problem I could easily rectify if the thing was an FLA where I could add videos back in that way), or animations were either mangled or ignored completely.how best tackle this challenge?Okay, so I basically started to just recreate the entire thing in Flash, using PrtScrn for backgrounds after deleting objects (then pasting in Photoshop and exporting as a PNG-24), as well as copying graphics into Photoshop as well to export as PNGs. No idea what to do about animations yet. Videos I can add back manually.
But anyways, as I do this, the movie is automatically advancing through every frame when I preview. I'm not sure how to go about setting up my Flash so that it only goes to the next frame when someone either presses the mouse button or the spacebar (either would be fine, I think).So that's my main focus at the moment. The other stuff is definitely part of the whole deal, but my main question is:ow do I set up Flash so that it only advances to the next frame when a mouse button or spacebar is pushed?
I want a symbol (instance name: "bullet") to appear at the same x and y where another symbol ("this" symbol, the symbol the code is attached to) is when the spacebar is pushed, but only if "bullet" is off-screen. I tried the following code, but "bullet" doesn't appear on top of the other symbol ("this") when I push the spacebar:

I am putting together a Flash Form. I had it all finished and posted it on a testing site, then I realized there was a problem.I have form validation that works like this. If a user hits the submit button but has not entered information in all of the required fields, the user will get an error message telling them to input all required information. However, there is a workaround. It seems that Flash sees the value of the "spacebar" as a positive value and lets users get past my validation.I need to assign the "spacebar" a value, make it a variable, or something along those lines. Then tell it to be equal to "0", which is not an acceptable number to pass my form validation.
