May 17, 2005is it possible to hide it in mx when the text is too short to be scrolled? i read its possible with flashMX04.

Jun 29, 2007I have a movie that is 2000px in height and some objects are duplicating vertically adding up by 100px. Say I have 5 objects so there is only 500px of content, is there anyway to use javascript from flash to limit the scrollbar to 500px instead of the full 2000?

Mar 1, 2012I'm using IE9 on a Windows 7 64bit machine. For testing, i've disabled my flash add-on in IE9. I expect IE9 to ask the user to install flash when it's required.
So does firefox and chrome, but IE9 does not do this for me.
Example: I go to this site [URL]
The only thing I get to see is a black screen with a small error icon on the top left of the screen. Here i expect IE9 to tell me that i need Flash and ask me to install it.
ActionScript 2.0 :: CRITIQUE NEEDED On New Flash Site I Did
May 5, 2009First, if I am doing a full flash site (like I did), what is the web standard now as far as load times? You see I have the site fully loading all content first, before the home page even shows. I have heard of dynamically loading content, for instance, different sections and subsections of the site, to be called on when clicked, as opposed to loading the whole site first.Now are there any benefits to dynamically loading sections as opposed to loading ALL of the content first? What is the pro standard? Is loadingsections/subsections/content dynamically something very easy to do, left for aprofessional, or left for a seasoned professional?Second, How important is the "title tag" in the html page that I am embedding the flash site in? I recently changed it from "Untitled", was leaving it as "Untitled" a rookie mistake?
Third, I have set up several email addresses for the client, including some web forms, that i used php file to send it to their email when they hit the send button; My question is...in the php file, I have it sending email to the client, and myself. I don't plan on reading their email, but thought I would effectively cc myself, for backup, in case something was wrong with their email, then I would have the client's email in case...so is that ethical or legal to do? What would web pro's do? I don't want to get in trouble, but I don't want to ask the client, because I don't think she will understand my reasoning.Lastly, if you were an instructor and I was your student that did the site I did as a final project, how would you grade it? Look at is as a critique of the site based on professional web standards and protocol so to speak.

I have a stylesheet in my flash document, and if I use the command: story.embedFonts = true; the dynamic textfield does not appear. when I don't include it, it appears fine. the only problem is that I am designing the document to print using printjob(), and if I don't include the embedFonts, the textfield doesn't print.

Oct 29, 2009We have a little in-house LMS with courses built in Flash. Scores are updated and retrieved with POSTs to PHP scripts which query a MySQL database. All the course content and quiz questions are in xml files. Those XML files are easily accessible from a user's Temporary Internet Files (sort of SCORM style, for those familiar with it) and while you'd have to be pretty desperate to cheat at something like a Fire Safety test, it's still a vulnerability we'd like to solve.
I intend to move the quiz data (and eventually, the course content) into a MySQL database, then probably build the XML in PHP and echo that to the Flash course (as we've been doing to update and retrieve assessment scores). I think I could limit how and when the xml is displayed by passing hashes and shared secrets and whatnot between the PHP page and Flash, but this only limits outside access, and anyone viewing the course legitimately will still see the XML passed around (I think..).
Surely I'm not reinventing fire here. Is there a method or a technology in existence that allows the safe, discrete passage of xml into Flash?

Oct 7, 2011I have a swf object that is to the left of a header div that is 1000px wide. the swf is 303px wide. How would I make the swf on the left hide behind the window when the windows is only, say, 1050px wide?

notice how the object get hidden, still plays, but doesn't lose it's aspect ratio?
How does someone do this?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Hiding Flash Movie With MovieClipLoader()
Oct 21, 2010I'm experiencing problems when I try to load a movie that uses LoadVars() into another movie that uses MovieClipLoader method to load the first file. My goal is to secure the flash movie and the contents that are accessed from the database and display the contents with a non-editable form (this is a "backend movie"). The best way I found is to load this "backend" swf with MovieClipLoader from another movie that acts as "frontend".
The problem is, that every time I load the main movie I'm able to see the form of the loaded clip but the content is not fully loaded (maybe because the ASP page has not delivered all the content to LoadVars). For example I can see 3 of 6 text that are being loaded with LoadVars() in the backend movie. Individually, the backend movie is working fine and I always can see my form with dynamic text without any interrumption. how can I load the movie to another one or how can I secure the backend including the URL that access the database?

Oct 27, 2010Does anyone have any knowledge (preferably with links to make it official) about how/if Flash/Flex culls objects not in view, to stop them getting drawn when not needed? A specific cases: I have an 800x600 panel (a Canvas or Sprite, or other container) containing loads of Sprites representing individual game objects like asteroids or spaceships or missiles or map-tiles. The game world might be 5000x5000 so can I naively position Sprites anywhere in this range and let Flash cull them effectively? Or do I need to manage visibility somehow at a higher level (like manually removing them from the parent) to avoid performance issues?

Jan 24, 2011I am toggling show/hide using jQuery on a div block via [code]and it's working perfectly except for one minor detail.When there is a flash video player in that content area, the flash player will not hide along with the rest of the block via the "toggle" function.The strange thing is that it will hide the video using the hide() function but I'd rather use toggle() to keep track of my state and switch accordingly.Is this a bug in the toggle() function or am I forgetting something here?By the way, it appears to do this only in Google Chrome. Safari, Firefox, Opera all work fine, so I'm thinking this is a Chrome bug.

I was wondering if there is any way that on completing the timeline, it starts the timeline again and then shows the second layer and masks the 1st one. It would then do the same, masking the 2nd layer and showing the 3rd and so on.

Sep 8, 2010In Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (WinXP/Flash 10), if I play my videos using the JW Player in the slider they work. However if I move to the next slide and then return to the original slide the video is no longer displayed - the audio is still audible and the video can be played and paused, but there is no image.

Jul 13, 2010I'm currently having trouble with the file size of my latest project. This due to the file size of certain movie clips in my library. This obviously causes a long preloading time.
To get round this I thought I could load these movie cilps when I need them so the user can proceed normally until they appear. These movie clips have a linkage with 'Export for Actionscript' selected but I haven't selected 'Export in first frame' because I want to export it later when they're needed.
how to ignore loading these movie clips until I tell Flash I want them loading. Bearing in mind these aren't external .swf's.
