I have a movie that is 2000px in height and some objects are duplicating vertically adding up by 100px. Say I have 5 objects so there is only 500px of content, is there anyway to use javascript from flash to limit the scrollbar to 500px instead of the full 2000?

And I'm learning how to use SWC files and [EMBED] statements to pull my assets into my application.With the Flash IDE, I can link a library asset to a class and it's automatically embedded into my custom class. So that's 1 asset in 1 class. With the Flex SDK and SWC files, it seems I can only* pull in assets at the variable level, so I end up with my custom classes containing yet another class -- this means I have an extra wrapper/decorator (whatever you want to call it) class that I didn't have when using the Flash IDE.Is this what people typically do? Doesn't that seem superfluous?I've read Colin Moock's 'Essential Actionscript 3.0', where he mentions something about embedding a SWF at class-level as binary data.

View 3 RepliesI have an 11 minute video (.MOV) that I want to convert to an FLV. The file is about 29GB. I first tried to convert it using the CS3 Video Encoder but only the first 5:00 were converted. I tried this a few times with different settings but got the same results. Then I switched to Cleaner but again, only about 5:00 was converted. The length is not exactly the same but close enough for me to think that there might be a 5:00 limit to how long an FLV can be. Or is there a limit to the size of MOV the encoding process will handle?
View 1 RepliesMy Flash movie has connected to a server via Socket. The server has sent some data over the Socket connection. This data consists of a 4-byte message header which describes the length of the incoming message and then the message itself. In this particular case, my message has a length of 500040 bytes.
My code receives the first installment of this long socket message in a block of 4,380 bytes. I know this because of trace statements in my socketDataHandler function. It peels off the 4 bytes at the beginning and interprets them to get the incoming message length of 500040. The remaining 4376 bytes go into a ByteArray var (a property of my class) called buffer. As more blocks of data arrive, the socketDataHandler function is repeatedly triggered and the extra blocks are concatenated into the buffer.

so i have some scrollbar(track and button) and some content.the formula i am using to calculate to calculate y of content is the following:

the only problem i have is that i need to add extra space after content, so basically i want forumla to act as if content. height = content.height + extraSpace , but unfortunatelly setting the height scalesY, which is what i don't want.
How can i make an object draw progressive lines by limiting the length of the line and the controlling the direction in which it must be drawn??

Why I am getting an extra blank browser window named "untitled" behind the main one, which pops up fine. I did test it on my remote server and it still had the same problem as from within flash itself?

I tryed to create a movieclip that simulates the windows' windows, lets say it... this is my swf: [url]....at first look, it seems to work right. Its draggable and scalable just like a windows os frame. But so far so good, try to move the horizontal scrollbar thumb till it reaches its limit. Then scale the movieclip.

Acceess to the file are controlled by passwords, stored in a XML-file I want to limit the number of accesses for each visitor to let us say 10 visits. How do I count (and store) the number of logons for each visitor? SharedObject works only at clienside, but iI want i serverside. The "easy" way would be to save the number of accesses for each visitor in a text-file but Flash and save... I hvave tried ExternalInterface calls, PHP etc and etc, but cant find a way that works. This is the last obstacle in a huge project.

If I don't use the scrollbar the loadClip works fine, but if I load some images using loadclip and scroll the browser right after in between calling them and them actually appearing the loadclip fails.

View 15 RepliesI have an image gallery with a bunch of thumbnails displayed on the page in a grid-like layout. Currently, the swf sits in a HTML page set at 100% width and height. There's a resize listener that adjusts the layout so that the thumbnails all fit on the page
at once. So, as the browser window gets narrower, the columns decrease and rows increase as the thumbnails get pushed down the page.
The problem is, once the thumbnails get pushed far down far enough to go past the bottom of the browser, the overflow is hidden and the thumbs "below the fold" are not accessible. Is there a way to pass the dynamic height of the SWF, so that the browser detects whether or not it should display the side scroll bar?
I've seen this pretty slick flash site where the content is clearly loaded in dynamically and the browser scroller bar is used.

You guys taught me how to do that and it works greatThe stage will be larger than a typical browser window and extends below the botom of the users' screen. When I test the file (in the environment) and when I publish it to HTML, no vertical scroll buttons are visible. The thumbs seem to be displayed properly except for the fact that the rows of thumbs go beyond the bottom of the screen and there is no way to scroll down to see all of them.When I publish just the .fla and manually embed it into an HTML page in Dreamweaver, the vertical scrollbar appears and works as expected.

Like in my case i m using tileList inside tabNavigator , when I put contents inside the tileList, the height of tileList does not increase beyond vertical height of the viewport. It puts scrollbar on the container. To have, a background image contained in a MovieClip. Let's say: bg_mc and have it scaling automatically to fit the different user's Internet browser screens size. In other hand, have another MovieClip that handles and holds the site. Let's say: content_mc without being affected by the scaling of the bg_mc. And last, in the case... the content_mc height does not fit in the user's internet browser. Have the internet browser with its scrollBar so the user can scroll down and see the rest of the site. (right now my content_mc is being cut off the screen).

Im currently working on a full dynamic flash website and I want it to look and behave like a good old HTML/CSS page. Meaning that i want a regular browser scrollBar to appear/disappear when the movie height is changed.
So my new killer app simply demands a width of 1000 pixels, but can be any height, and I want people to see the vertical scrollBar on their browser.
I changed the "100%" for the width to a fixed number like "1000", and keep the height parameters at 100%. I thought that will do the job, But NOT I�ve googled and found some interesting stuff, but nothing really I can use (javascript solutions).
