ActionScript 1/2 :: Count And Limit The Accesses To A Browser Based Swf
Mar 25, 2010
I have a swf file imbedded in a HTML. Acceess to the file are controlled by passwords, stored in a XML-file I want to limit the number of accesses for each visitor to let us say 10 visits. How do I count (and store) the number of logons for each visitor? SharedObject works only at clienside, but iI want i serverside. The "easy" way would be to save the number of accesses for each visitor in a text-file but Flash and save... I hvave tried ExternalInterface calls, PHP etc and etc, but cant find a way that works. This is the last obstacle in a huge project.
I have a full browser site and when it is resized smaller the elements will overlap each other. I'd like to stop them from overlapping by stopping the flash from resizing after a certain screen size is reached. [URL]
Code:
var w : Number = Stage.width; var h : Number = Stage.height; w = w < 800 ? 800 : w; h = h < 600 ? 600 : h;
I've tried this and it doesn't work for me...Here is the code that I am using to set the stage elements:
I'm loading an external XML file when in the Flash development environment. ActionScript 3.0 (CS3) accesses the XML file using URLLoader. Everything is fine until I have to make changes to the XML file. When testing the Flash application while in the development environment, it does not see the changes I made to the XML file, because the URLLoader is somehow caching the results. Thus, the XML file looks exactly the same. This is very frustrating. Is there any way I can blow out this cache so that URLLoader is forced to load the XML file? Currently, I either have to re-start the Flash environment or change the name of the XML file.
I have a movie that is 2000px in height and some objects are duplicating vertically adding up by 100px. Say I have 5 objects so there is only 500px of content, is there anyway to use javascript from flash to limit the scrollbar to 500px instead of the full 2000?
I'm trying to make a volume button for my site and it looks something like this:
- ||||| +
i want the volume bar to start filled and when the user hits the minus button it lowers the volume and when it hit plus it takes the volume up well when I go down and up the volume bars start to get crazy...it just works when I go down the whole way and after it goes up the whole way, when I change direction on the midle of the path it jumps some bars...
Code: volDown.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, menosVol); volUp.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, maisVol); var cliques:uint = 0 if (cliques == 7){
If I wanted to code a desktop-based game, I could pull some XNA code and UDP sockets and make a decent multiplayer game. I would have an extremely clear of how to code the game I wanted.But if I wanted to code a browser-based online multiplayer game, how would I do it?ou can't use XNA....I've been looking at some questions and I'm seeing PHP and ASP.NET and Silverlight and Flash and Java as the alternative languages...I really don't understand how it works. I mean, for a desktop-based game, you're opening a UDP socket and accepting clients and transferring data, updating player states, drawing the results using XNA. But in a browser, how do you open a socket and stuff? How does that concept work, communicating to people in realtime through a web-browser.
I'm working on a game and want the freedom to choose between UDP and TCP connections in the future when I decide to add multiplayer. I'm not sure how something like this would work in the browser with security.
There are two scenarios I can think of for multiplayer. The first is that a player becomes the host of the game (in the browser) and thus would need to communicate with other players directly via TCP or UDP. This would save me on bandwidth costs.
The second scenario would be to have the web server host the game and pass messages back and forth to the clients again via TCP or UDP.
Do Flash or Java applets let me do something like this? If not is there an alternative I can use for the browser or am I stuck with moving to providing a game download and installation?
There's clearly a bunch of new stuff in Flash 10, I'm seeing a bunch in the Graphics class so far. Struggling a bit to reconcile it with what I know already but it looks useful - render lists and 3D transforms, etc - however I wondered if there are good arguments for targeting Flash 9 since I can definitely manage without all the new stuff I don't know. Like support on non-Windows devices, wide adoption of Flash 9 Vs 10, etc.
Does anyone know how to resize a website's content proportionally based on the browser window's width and height? Also, the navigation can be repositioned accordingly based on the browser's size as well.[url]...Resize website content based on browser?
im trying to resize/scale a movieclip based on the browser window.i sort of got it working. but my prob is that i dont want it to scale beyond the browser size when u just stretch the width or height.check it outif u stretch just the width of the browser the image enlarges which i dont wont it to. heres the code/formula used in a onResize
var mywidth:Number = 955; var myheight:Number = 575; Enlarge = (Math.round(Stage.height/myheight*100)+Math.round(Stage.width/mywidth*100))/2;
Is it possible to do what this tutorial shows but instead of having your mcs be positioned related to the stage, have them be positioned related to the browser window?
I have a Flash file embedded into HTML - the objects inside are place based on the browser's screen size.Most of the time I don't want a scroll bar, as things are correctly placed, but once the browser window gets too small it'd be nice to have it.So, the main question: can I have a Javascript code listening for the browser window, then adding a scroll bar if it's smaller than a certain number?
Imagine I want a user to be able to copy-paste a selection of pixels from MSPaint into a browser-based app. Is this possible using JavaScript in any current browsers? Will it become possible in HTML5?If not, is it feasible using something like Flex/Silverlight, or is it simply not possible at this time, and you'd have to save a file and manually upload it?
update: sounds like HTML5 should allow it, but that's a way in the future to be genuinely useful. Some suggestions of Java applets and Flash are mentioned, probably Flash would be preferable since parts of the web-client would probably use Flex anyway... I'd rather not have requirement for Java and Flash in my site.
What I want to do is have control over the streams so I can send them wherever I want, have it interface w/a mic and cam, and the ability to capture and record them. At this point I don't have any specific specs or limitations. It will be used in a commercial project so the license must allow for that. Free and OSS is preferably, but commercial and proprietary is not out of the question if it's worth it.
I don't see html5 as a viable solution at this point so I'm assuming it's going to rely on flash which is fine, but I do not know actionscript. I'm not opposed to learning it, and assume I could pick it up fine within a week, but keep that in mind. If I have to build something myself from the actionscript libraries (I assume they provide enough functionality) I can do so, but I'm hoping for a quicker solution than that.
this is insanely annoying problem: AS3 full screen application based on ADOBE FLEX 4, text field. User types something in text field, and then starts clicking backspace many many times to remove what he just wrote, and for some reason, instead of removing characters from text field it tells browser to GO BACK and user navigates away.
Is it possible to make the flash content go back to some previous frame when the user clicks on the back button in the browser? Similarly, can the the refresh button be used to refresh to the same frame and not go back to the starting frame?
I need to develop a browser based application that record the user screen, much preferably on flv. Also doing that with java would be perfect.That's exactly what they accomplished at [url].... , with just a javaWS app.
I've found a simple count up script over on Actionscript.org
var count:Number = 0; var maxNum:Number = 1250; var num:Number = 1; this.createTextField("txt", this.getNextHighestDepth(), 0, 0, 100, 50);
[code]....
This works great for my use, but now I am trying to figure out how to make it count down. I've tried changing everything to opposites like count=1250 and maxNum=0 (I think this would be the minNum instead), count+=num to count-=num, and count>=maxNum to count<=maxNum.
I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window.This brings me to the questions:
-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project
-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking.How would the python backend integrate with the UI.
I'm relatively new to AS3. There's one thing that I don't quite understand about Sprites. I'm making a tile based game, and all the tile graphics for a level are inside one movie clip in each frame. Would I be able to go about creating multiple sprites based on the frames in said movieclip's timeline I would I have to go through and make a separate library graphic for each.
I want to use RTMP based HTTP DVR functionality and HLS based IOS functionality, So I need to know how to MPP from my existing DVR app to the livepkgr app so that the stream being recorded at the DVR app can be used by the Flash and Stream MPP over to livepkgr app and can be used by the IOS HLS.
in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?
I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:
This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.
Trying to detect a browser close event and send some data to the database when the user closes the browser window...but can't seem to get it to work.[code]
