ActionScript 2.0 :: Regular Browser ScrollBar To Appear/disappear When The Movie Height Is Changed
Feb 26, 2006
Im currently working on a full dynamic flash website and I want it to look and behave like a good old HTML/CSS page. Meaning that i want a regular browser scrollBar to appear/disappear when the movie height is changed.
So my new killer app simply demands a width of 1000 pixels, but can be any height, and I want people to see the vertical scrollBar on their browser.
I changed the "100%" for the width to a fixed number like "1000", and keep the height parameters at 100%. I thought that will do the job, But NOT Ive googled and found some interesting stuff, but nothing really I can use (javascript solutions).
I have an image gallery with a bunch of thumbnails displayed on the page in a grid-like layout. Currently, the swf sits in a HTML page set at 100% width and height. There's a resize listener that adjusts the layout so that the thumbnails all fit on the page at once. So, as the browser window gets narrower, the columns decrease and rows increase as the thumbnails get pushed down the page.
The problem is, once the thumbnails get pushed far down far enough to go past the bottom of the browser, the overflow is hidden and the thumbs "below the fold" are not accessible. Is there a way to pass the dynamic height of the SWF, so that the browser detects whether or not it should display the side scroll bar?
I am trying to increase the height of container with increase in the number of contents inside the container. Like in my case i m using tileList inside tabNavigator , when I put contents inside the tileList, the height of tileList does not increase beyond vertical height of the viewport. It puts scrollbar on the container. I want to increase the height of an flex container with increase in the contents and introduce scrollbar on the browser with increase in contents in the flex container.
I made a scrollbar class that works pretty well. I'm trying to come up with an idea for how to set to the height of the scrollbar vs the height of the scrolling content. This is a standard thing that happen in the OS. Seems there should be a minimum number and the maximum value should be reached as the size of the content approaches the size of the visible area.
Changing the width and height of the parent MovieClip does not bring change in the width and height of the inner MovieClip. The parent MovieClip is placed at Stage and is resized manually. When I assign the dimension of the parent MovieClip to the inner MovieClip through code, the parent MovieClip dimension is changed. I want both MovieClip to be of same width and height at runtime. However, parent MovieClip dimension is changed at design time by me.
Example:There are two MovieClip, one inside another. Now parent MovieClip is placed at Stage at design time and its dimension is (50,50) and the child MovieClip which is inside the parent MovieClip has also same dimensions (50,50). Now, I manually change the parent MovieClip dimension by pressing Q and stretching it with mouse, the dimension of the parent MovieClip is now (100,150) or whatever I like. Now double-click on parent MovieClip and check that inner MovieClip dimension remains same i.e. (50,50)Now in AS3 code, I change the width and height of inner MovieClip like this:
In above case, parentmc and inne_rmc dimension should be same i.e (100 ,150). With swapping the values as above, I get parentmc and inner_mc to be of same dimension, but object size is never (100, 150), I have checked it with pixel-perfect air app.
I want to constrain the height of a flex component to the height of the browser viewport.
The component's children are populated from a database table using a repeater, and are basic checkboxes. There are enough of them that the flex app ends up being about twice the height of the screen, which means some of the rest of the layout goes crappy on me. How can I force the component that contains these to limit itself to the size of the viewport?
Is it possible to get the browser height via flash and set the stage height to that value? I know you can set the height to 100% in publish settings, however one of my scroller scripts needs the stage height to be exactly the height of the content area of the browser.
I have a swf thats loading external images to it.In all IE browsers, when i resize the browser window and the scroll bar appears, over half the images in my flash swf disappear. When i resize and the scrollbar disappears then the all flash images appear.Oddly enough this only happens when flash is loading over 38 images.
My workspace is 1000X1200 and I have a background image in Flash 1920 width. I want the SWF to aligned to center in the HTML with a regular browser scroller.
I'm trying to publish 100% X 100% with no scale but the scroll bar doesn't show from bottom to top and the SWF parts are missing!
How can I make it to show the background (what outside stage) with regular browsers scrollers and align to center?
I am trying to reset the stage width to its original size when user click on button after changes to the browser zoom level.
However this is restting the width of stage according to the new zoom level with the result that the stage size increase even more. I tried using a variable to use as holder of original stageWidth but how to reset it to that width?[code]...
I am loading xml and using Colin Moock's scrollbar as he desrcibes it in Essential Actionscript 3.0. It all worked fine until I tried to put a link to a jpg inside the xml.Where other html tags give no problem, the img seems to mess with the textfield height. I gave the textfield a fixed height but when I try to scroll the field with the image, and trace the textfield height, it increases more and more when I scroll down, messing up the scrollbar.the img tag looks like this (and it loads fine into the textfield):
The slightly adapted scrollbar class looks like this (I gave the scrolltrack a fixed height and tried to give t.height a fixed height too within this class but tracing t.height keeps showing that it is increasing while scrolling down):
I would like to modify the scrollbar (vertical) of the tilelist component so that there is some space between the top of the scrollbar and the top of the tilelist. Currently, the scrollbar extends the the top and bottom edges of the tilelist. I would like to add a graphic above the scrollbar but below the top of the tilelist. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I'm working 100% in AS 3 within Flex Builder.
The attached image (picture 3) shows what I would like it to look like (with the yellow lines). Picture 4 shows what it looks like currently.
look at the code for oringe's blur scroller and tell me how to set the scroller's height to a set value instead of the stage height? if you'd like the source get it here:[URL]
I'm doing wrong here? I want to use a Blixt's scrollbar to scroll a dynamic textfield that's is set to a autosizing height.... And I'm having problems. I though I had finally found my perfect scrollbar.... it's so close!
I'm having a bit of trouble with this logic. My setup is typical, with a content MC and a handle MC the runs along a track with specified bounds. All I want to do is have the handle height adjust based on content height but in relation to the track height?
I am using a scrollbar as demonstrated in OO scrollbar part 1 and have it working great, except that when you scroll the text, it seem to add a bunch of space at the end of the text field and then does not scroll back up to the top of the text field, but rather ends up in the middle.
Seems like it is somehow measuring the height of the text field at the wrong time? I would guess that it has the right height dimensions (due to the extra space at the bottom) but that it somehow is getting the wrong y coordinate. [code]...
I am resizing a movie clips height automatically to match the height of some dynamic text that is displayed above it (will eventually be loading it from xml ). is there a way to keep a safe margin top and bottom? this is my code so far Text_Box_Graphic.height = Text_Box.height;
Any way of personalizing your browser scrollbar using actionscript? If so, could you point me in the way of a valuable tutorial. I have a feeling it is uncontrollable through flash though and through Javascript.
Is there any way to track and set the browser window scrollbar position from Flash? I've searched around the web but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer. It would be really cool if its possible.[URL]...
I have a simple gallery that rearranges itself when the stage is re sized. Can anyone help me with adding a scrollbar to the browser once the stage size is small enough. I want to add a scrollbar to the browser window when the stage height is reduced below a level.
I have this problem where the scrollbar interferes with loadClip. Anyway, I am looking for possible bugs between FF browser scrollbar and loadclip. If I don't use the scrollbar the loadClip works fine, but if I load some images using loadclip and scroll the browser right after in between calling them and them actually appearing the loadclip fails.
scroll a movieclip inside a swf with the browser scrollbar? I'm not talking about something like swfFit or so but actually controling a mc on stage while the rest of the swf stays in place? I've seen this done in a site that I don't remember the url to. Don't know though if they placed a div containing a swf on top of the "main" swf.
How can I display the vertical scrollbar in an .fla that is taller than the browser window?'ve created a file that loads thumbs from an .XML file and displays them in rows. You guys taught me how to do that and it works greatThe stage will be larger than a typical browser window and extends below the botom of the users' screen. When I test the file (in the environment) and when I publish it to HTML, no vertical scroll buttons are visible. The thumbs seem to be displayed properly except for the fact that the rows of thumbs go beyond the bottom of the screen and there is no way to scroll down to see all of them. When I publish just the .fla and manually embed it into an HTML page in Dreamweaver, the vertical scrollbar appears and works as expected.
I have a Flash file embedded into HTML - the objects inside are place based on the browser's screen size. Most of the time I don't want a scroll bar, as things are correctly placed, but once the browser window gets too small it'd be nice to have it.So, the main question: can I have a Javascript code listening for the browser window, then adding a scroll bar if it's smaller than a certain number?
How to create a fluid / liquid / fit to screen flash site with scrollBar. I am pretty much new to AS3 and flash. I have been looking for a way. To have, a background image contained in a MovieClip. Let's say: bg_mc and have it scaling automatically to fit the different user's Internet browser screens size. In other hand, have another MovieClip that handles and holds the site. Let's say: content_mc without being affected by the scaling of the bg_mc. And last, in the case... the content_mc height does not fit in the user's internet browser. Have the internet browser with its scrollBar so the user can scroll down and see the rest of the site. (right now my content_mc is being cut off the screen).
Examples Flash sites with this layout: [URL]. The Next Code: it does generate a full browser's background image but there is no scroll bar for IE or FireFox and in some cases stretch my content_mc if i play too much with StageScaleMode. // -----> AS3.0 import flash.display.Stage; import flash.display.StageScaleMode; import flash.display.StageAlign; var myStage:Stage = this.stage; myStage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; [Code] .....
I have a movie that is 2000px in height and some objects are duplicating vertically adding up by 100px. Say I have 5 objects so there is only 500px of content, is there anyway to use javascript from flash to limit the scrollbar to 500px instead of the full 2000?
I want to develop a flash website. I have some background images. I want them to be filled the whole screen and also in center while seeing in the browser. I am able to make it into the whole screen. But while resizing the browser it is not holding into the center.
