ActionScript 2.0 :: List Box Component On Screen Which Had An Event Listener To Get Changes?
Jun 30, 2008
If I were to have a list box component on screen which had an event listener to get changes, when navigating away from the current screen, is it a good idea to remove any listeners that exists in that frame? If so, what is the best way to do it.
I'd like to display tool tips, once the user holds his mouse on an item of an opened combobox.Ifyou open the drop down list of a combo box, you'll see a list ofelements/items. Each of them can be accessed e.g. viamyCombo.getItemAt(0) .To me it seems I only get an object with adata and label property. But I think there must be more to it, becausewhen you hold your mouse over a sub-element, it'll be highlighted. Thismeans that there is some event listener on that very single item. Sohow can I do this?[code]
The fastforward and rewind buttons on the FLV Playback components don't work like normal ones. If you've tried to use them you'll notice that they respond to a click event rather than a mouse_down event.
By taking apart one of the skins I've found that the fast forward movie clip is forward_mc.
How do I create an event listener for the buttons inside the FLV Playback Component?
If the instance of my FLV Playback component is called "movie," how do I access it? I've tried this, but it doesn't work:
I have a custom component I've developed that's part of a dashboard. It does some polling based on a timer that's part of the component.
When the user navigates away from the view that contains this component I would like to stop the timer and hence stop the polling.I can obviously fire an event when the view's changed and catch it within the component but I was hoping that there might be a way to contain this all within the component. Is there an event or state change within a component that triggers and even when a component is currently be displayed?
how to populate a list box component located within a seperate mc in my swf with an array... the array comes from a response from a webservice call. I am not currently on the computer with my source code available so lets just use the following....
listdata[i] = the array i want to populate the list box with..... (listdata1, listdata2, listdata3, listdata4, etc. etc.) movieclip1 = the MC within my fla containing the list box component mylist = the actual list component
... just not all that familiar with the format of actionscript when working with objects... using CS3 and as2 btw,
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter listener must be non-null.at flash.events::EventDispatcher/removeEventListener() at project1_fla::MainTimeline/btnName()
I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.
I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.
Why I have to press 2 times the arrow key down to get a navigation through the list items in a list component of Flash?
Theres any workaround for this? I have a listener for keyboard event that checks if keyCode is equal to 40 if it is then I use 'stage.focus = list', but I have to press 2 times key arrow down to start navigating through list items.
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server. The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips. The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen. An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there. Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?
or
I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too. What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they, for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
if I have an event listerner (mouse, keyboard, enterframe,....event) that is being triggered, and when it finishes its event, something that is able to detect the finished event listener and fire out another sets of event.
It works more like MOTION_FINISH in TweenEvent, but it is only available for TweenEvent only, what if I want to detect a mousclick, keyboard, enterframe or even touch event?
My stage has about 25 buttons on it. Each button when pressed to tweens the background to some random x/y coordinates and then loads an external swf file. This is all working, but the timing is off. How can I wait for the initial background tween to end before I make the loader call to the .swf file.Currently each button's behavior is called on the MouseEvent.CLICK event which calls a function that knows its unique filename.swf. I know you can add the MOTION_FINISH even to the tween event but then I would have to call a new function and lose track of the button that initially called it.
I'm moving on to my next massive programming project and I'm trying to decide whether I should code it in as 2.0 or 3.0. I came across the new click event model in 3.0. Right now it's looking like a pain in the butt to me. So now I have to make a function and add it as an event listener? what the hell? What's the benefit? I understand stuff like this makes AS a more complete language but it's kinda annoying.
I have two Lists (components) on stage. The first one (mainList populates from an XML called topics.xml
[Code]...
on event handler change, I want to load the second list on the other list component, called subList..It's not loading.. I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes). If I unquote line v.list.load("subtopic.xml"), it works, but I need it to be loaded from the XML..
This is a very basic question but I can't seem to find an answer. I have a mouse over event and have created the buttons with the mouse overs which is working great. I created the actionscript to go to a specific web page when a user clicks the button. Now, I need to add a label to the mouse over so when someone mouse's over any area of the button, it will show them a particular name for the button.
I am sure that this can be done using actionscript in a mouse event roll over command but I can't figure out what I need to show the text. Here is where I am:
how can i access event.target outside event listener method.say for example
my_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onC); function onC(e:MouseEvent):void { var m:MovieClip = e.target as MovieClip; } trace(m.totalframes);/// not working
now what if i want to get totalframe property of m instance, in short for every movieClip clicked.
I am doing this inside a module containing viewstacks and their childs.Calling onInit() on creationComplete of module. When I am inside one of the childs of a viewstack of this module and press Enter, it doesnt not invoke the listener function at all (bp inside this does not get hit).
private function onInit():void{ this.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyPressed); }[code]..........
This might be more of a subjective question, but is it generally best practice to have one dedicated method per event-types that you add an event-listener?
Such as:
myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, onMouseOver); myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, onMouseOut); //Somewhere else in the code...
[Code].....
And if you had a MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN and other relevant MouseEvents event-listeners to watch for, you could even set a switch statement to handle all the various MouseEvent types.
I have these buttons in a movie clip and I would like to have only one event listener for the parent, using event.target to point to the children. I have also tried event.currentTarget, and it didn't work.here is the code that works:
I have a code in AS3 that works when you rollover it. I need to use the same code but not with an eventlistener for a mouse event but a frame event when the timeline plays the clip
var coordX:Number = shaker_mc.x;var coordY:Number = shaker_mc.y;var timer:Timer = new Timer(10); shaker_mc.buttonMode = false; shaker_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,startShake);shaker_mc.addEventListener(Mous
printableInvoice.addEventListener(batchGenerated, printableInvoice_batchGeneratedHandler);Results in this error: 1120: Access of undefined property batchGenerated. I have tried it as FlexEvent.batchGenerated and FlashEvent.batchGenerated.
The MetaData and function that dispatches the even in the component printableInvoice is all right. It I instantiate printableInvoice as an mxml component instead of via action-script it well let put a tag into the mxml line: batchGenerated="someFunction()
Apparently, AS3 keeps track of each object that registers a listener for a given event in an internal array known as a "listener list" (Moock's Essential Actionscript 3.0, page 216). Is it possible to view this list somehow to check for stray listeners that may be slowing down your code, or to just check how many listeners are running at a particular time?
I have a listener for the arrow key strokes. When I select my clip the arrows work fine. However, there is also a slider on the stage. If I touch the slider the left and right keys now adjust the slider, this is not desired. How to I prevent the slider from using the keyboard input?
