I'm trying to load a .swf in a mc called container, the movie loads but not correct.When it's playing, you are only hearing a sound but you don't see the movie. On my harddisk it's working fine but on the Internet it isn't working.

I have similar code on button two and this does indeed make the buttons move into place as required. My problem is this, I need to load in external swf files into an empty movie clip on the main stage called container. These External SWF files have transitions and this is where my problem is. If I place a normal button on the stage it works but not if the button is inside a movie clip and has actions applied as above. The code next is what I have believe should also be placed on the button to make swf transition one load in.

I want to load an external swf called 'signs.swf' into an empty mc called 'signholder'.

Everything works. Cool. But, I now want to target something within the signs.swf. How do I do it though? What is the path? Do I have to give the child of signholder an instance name? Everything I try fails.
If I wanted the root timeline of the external swf to gotoAndPlay(2) for example,...would i say...
signholder.loadit2.gotoAndPlay(2) ???

I have one swf called main.swf which has a container movieclip that gets external swf's loaded into it.
my external swf is called hosting and it calls an array of data that is loaded into a movieclip that is duplicate for each element from the database. The elements from the database are as follows:
Business
Economy
Power
Standard
Each one of these has a button over it that when press loads information from the database into a movieclip that contains a textbox. My button code is: _root.movieclip.loadVariables("url to database");
This works flawlessly when I run the hosting.swf by itself, but when it is loaded into the contianer in the main.swf the buttons dont work. I believe that it is the _root in the button call that is causing this but I dont know how to fix it. I think the _root variable changes when hosting is loaded into the main.swf.
The function below belongs to an XML based photoGallery.swf... Its menu is automatically populated from the same XML file as well (thumbnail picture, title, description). The pictures load into an empty mc called imageContainer.In another empty mc called textContainer, I would like to load some text.swf from the xml list as well.How would you include that in the code?

So far all I managed to accomplish is that only one of the swf loads but not in the right location. I tried to give it the x and y coordinates wherer I want the swf to appear, but still it loads somewhere else. What can I do?

line 2 and 3 are temporarily commented I used the same code for all three swf changing naturally the instance names, but these do not load or if they do they are loading behind the one that shows on the stage.
I wonderd if it was possible to do so when clicking on one of the options in the ComboBox, it could load an .swf into an container?

I can't figure out why this text file won't load when its parent swf is being called into the main swf but will separately. in an actions layer on the main timeline I'm using this code: _root.contents.loadMovie("easter_scroll.swf"); I'm calling the easter_scroll.swf, which calls Easter.txt, into index_main.swf but the text file doesn't load although the easter_scroll.swf loads. I am confident one of you flash gurus can figure this out.

It's a presentation that needs to play thru but still have the ability to stop, click on items, open a popup and then continue on in the presentation. It works when its opened by itself but doesnt work once it has been loaded into the base file.I know its because the AS in it contains the word "root" but when i changed it to "this", it still didnt work.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to load an image for displaying in a container which have been loaded from the Library and placed on the stage.Loading the image for which to use is no problem but algning it to the center of the stage is a problem.Now, keeping in mind that loaded images usually are placed at the top-left corner of the stage I tried to solve the problem like this...:
a = stage.stageWidth/2 (finding the center of the stage)
b = image.width/2
c = a-b (giving us the result of which to place the image)
image.x = c;
The formulas above make sence... in theory. In real life (at least on my computer) it doesn't work.Now, there might be some factors to consider when doing simple math like this...: - Can it be that the container is not the same size as the image loaded? - Can it be that I have to keep the x and y of the container (although I have aligned it so it's placed at the center of the stage)?
