Here in my example the preloader runs perfect, but when I start another mouseevent CLICK the old loading still active (on BANDWIDTH PROFILER, but the Preloader Movie Clip is removed).. View 1 RepliesI want to load a preloader (call it "target app") into my own Flash application (call it "hosting app") via Loader. The target app loads like a typical preloader several other SWF files via relative paths and starts the target app.
If the hosting app and the target app are residing in the same directory everything works fine. If the opposite is the case (target app not in the same directory as hosting app) the target app is not able to find the SWF files it has to load.
i have my preloader as my first scene in my website and when i preview it, it still loads the whole .swf file , and so all you see is a blank screen for 2 min - how do i get the preloader to load? I have my main swf file and two external swf files i'm trying to load into the main one. I have preloaders for each external swf file but when I have the main swf file it won't load the preloaders it seems to be loading the entire thing and then showing the swf. The code above tells the preloader that it is finished with the startPage and in the preloader it should next load faq, but I get an error saying that nextSWF is not a function when it clearly is, Is it even possible to use a preloader to load up swfs in this way??

I am trying to build a website with a preview window to display pieces of work when you click on a thumbnail. Each piece of work will be it's own swf, because there will be several images to show in each example, and I want to have a cool blur/fade in and out of each, and I want it to loop.
Anyway, I am trying to figure out how to load the swf into a "preview box", and have a preloader calculating the size and all that. So when you click a button, depending on the size of the external swf, the preloader will pop up and on completion, the swf will load. Not sure where to put the preloader code or where I should put the preloader in the first place.
I need to load external swf's into a gallery. But for some reason I can't picture how to set it up on the timeline. This is for college homework.
I have the entire gallery set up and working but I just don't have the preloader for the three external images. However, I do have a preloader working fine for the site itself.

SO, I am forced to use their little deal to display my .swf files. url...I made an eHike in as3 Flash CS4. It has two scenes, the first scene is the preload, second is splash content and ehike content. The problem is I cant get the preloader to display in IE. This works in IE (stopping people from resizing), but not in firefox, people can resize it. Is there any way to disable the resize in AS3? Again, I understand that your supposed to export the .html file with these settings, but I have no permissions to upload or create new .html files.

The only tweaks I've made to the tutorial file have been to change the stage size, and change the name and contents of the xml file.The preloader, which uses something I downloaded from preloaderz, worked with another, simpler swf, but when I try it with this one, I get

I don't know why this won't work. Another thing I don't quite get is how the .as file is attached, because the PhotoViewer.fla file appears to be blank, with nothing I can see in the timeline/ stage, or in the actionscript. Before trying the external preloader, I tried adding one to PhotoViewer.fla, using script from the ActionScript 3 Classroom in a book, which worked in their lesson file, but not with this file. I also tried moving the script to the .as file, but that didn't work either.I'm using Flash CS4. If all else fails, I might have to try a simpler image gallery, that would hopefully work with a preloader, but I like how this one looks.

When i test the movie the background image is loaded, but when i simulate the download ( so as to check how the preloader works ) the image "NightSky.jpg" doesn't load and there is an error in the output panel.
This is the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
All the files and the image are in the same file on my computer.

My problem is that when i view it as it would be seen on a browser the preloader doesn't appear straight away. i have an image with the preloader (site logo) and is 182kb file size and am guessing that this picture needs to load first for the next action to happen. if htis is so, other then reducing the file size is there anyway to make the preloader appear straight away.
