ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Load A Preloader In Flash
Sep 3, 2005
im dynamically loading text and an swf from an xml file...the swf and text should appear at same time...but the text appears too fast than the swf..ive to use preloader until the swf loads.. how and where ive to use preloader function....
[URL] this is my website and my banner is swf file.... it takes some times to load in a low speed connection... I want to have a preloader for this, which shows the precent or the bytes loaded, total bytes, and also a load bar....
i am working on an intro for a friend of mine and it includes a lot of individual photos. the preloader takes forever but i can figure out how to only load half of the movie instead of the entire thing before it plays. here's the code i have for the preloader itself:
here's a link to the current test page so you can see the entire intro and how long it takes now with that code to load. i just want it to load part of the file instead of waiting for all of it.[URL]
I'm trying to set up a preloader to show the load progress of the main swf, which has all of it's assets embedded. I found the factory class method as described on bit-101, but no load progress ever seems to show. The swf loads fine, but the bytesLoaded is always equal to bytesTotal and therefore the preloader is never called.
[Code]...
This correctly calls the Factory class first, and then instansiates Main and calls init(). But as I mentioned above the preloading is never shown as it seems to be loading everything straight away.Is this a problem with the way I'm embedding the images or because I'm testing locally?
I have a Flex application that automatically loads the SWF and it's contents and displays the default progress bar like in all Flex apps. Currently I have a class in the application using a Loader instance to load an external bitmap to be added to the stage/canvas. I'd like to handle the loading of this bitmap in the Flex default preloader and get rid of the Loader instance entirely.
Basically I have a background image which is loaded while the rest of the flash file is loaded. So once the preloader has finaly appeared its already half way through which I dont want.
Is there a way I can specify a certain image to be loaded before everything else in the flash file and before the first frame to start?
I have created the following preloader saved as "preloader.swf" that loads an external SWF file as follows:[code]I was reading to try avoid the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events since these events don't work 100% of the time.Now my question is this: is there a way of how I can go about to have the same functionality of loading an external SWF file (as above) but WITHOUT using the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events?
I'm trying to make a preloader for a little flash project that involves re-assembling a load of rectangles to make up a pattern.Idea is that instead of the usual load bar i wanted to make use of this pattern that is relevant to the project and have it rebuild it self with these rectangles flying in from the side. So far I have got the tweening sorted using the tween class and staggered the 42 (yes took a little while, probably an easier way so let me know on that also) rectangles using 'setTimeout' so it releases each 100milliseconds after the one one before it. This probably the wrong way to do it but i wanted to check how it looked and this was the one way i knew how to do it.
I want to make it so that these rectangles fly in a complete the pattern once the loading has finished, but on a fast connection I don't want it to rush the animation but for a slow connection I obviously want it to adjust the release time and maybe even the travel speed to compensate.
I had an idea of maybe working out the percentage loaded divided by 42 and then run an if statement to see if that percentage for that segment had been reached before 100millseconds had passed, if 100 had passed then release the rectangle, if not then hold the rectangle until 100 m/s had passed. Not sure if that is the best way to do but that's why I'm looking for some suggestions from more experienced developers.
how do I stop the preloader to LOAD an item when I click in another item to load.. Is that possible? Here in my example the preloader runs perfect, but when I start another mouseevent CLICK the old loading still active (on BANDWIDTH PROFILER, but the Preloader Movie Clip is removed).. How Do I stop the event when another different loading starts?Not visual aspect but functional.
I want to make a preloader for flash mx 2004 that when it finish becomes to decrement another time. I would like to do it to modify the flash preloader component.
I want to load a preloader (call it "target app") into my own Flash application (call it "hosting app") via Loader. The target app loads like a typical preloader several other SWF files via relative paths and starts the target app.
If the hosting app and the target app are residing in the same directory everything works fine. If the opposite is the case (target app not in the same directory as hosting app) the target app is not able to find the SWF files it has to load.
I know, yet another loadmovie+jpg+preload question. Please bare with me, I just need a pointer of how to load all the JPG's using one preloader... I have one container MC (fotos_mc) that loads 36 different MC's with JPG's in them:
i have my preloader as my first scene in my website and when i preview it, it still loads the whole .swf file , and so all you see is a blank screen for 2 min - how do i get the preloader to load? ( i followed [URL] for the preloader and only two images are on the first frame with the preloader....)
I have a guestion about preloaders. Every preloader that is available on the web loads the entire .SWF.But I want the preloader to load a specific mc. So that the .SWF will run as soon as that specific mc is loaded.
in addition: Is it possible to have an mc in the .SWF that will only load when the user pushes a button?
I have my main swf file and two external swf files i'm trying to load into the main one. I have preloaders for each external swf file but when I have the main swf file it won't load the preloaders it seems to be loading the entire thing and then showing the swf. How do i change that to showing the preloaders i already have? here is my code at the beginning on each external swf,
I have a preloader and I want it to load each section when called with this code: Callback function: caps_mc.btn_continue_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextpls); function nextpls(e:MouseEvent):void { MovieClip(parent.parent).nextSWF("startPage", parent);}
The code above tells the preloader that it is finished with the startPage and in the preloader it should next load faq, but I get an error saying that nextSWF is not a function when it clearly is, Is it even possible to use a preloader to load up swfs in this way??
Preloader: import flash.display.*;import flash.events.*; import flash.net.URLRequest; var loadedSWF:Loadervar progressPercent:Number; function startLoad(SWFName:String):void { loadedSWF = new Loader(); loadedSWF.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, gameLoaded); [Code] .....
Here is the error: TypeError: Error #1006: nextSWF is not a function. at startPages_fla::MainTimeline/nextpls()[startPages_fla.MainTimeline::frame1:7]
I am trying to build a website with a preview window to display pieces of work when you click on a thumbnail. Each piece of work will be it's own swf, because there will be several images to show in each example, and I want to have a cool blur/fade in and out of each, and I want it to loop.
Anyway, I am trying to figure out how to load the swf into a "preview box", and have a preloader calculating the size and all that. So when you click a button, depending on the size of the external swf, the preloader will pop up and on completion, the swf will load. Not sure where to put the preloader code or where I should put the preloader in the first place.
I need to load external swf's into a gallery. But for some reason I can't picture how to set it up on the timeline. This is for college homework.
I have the entire gallery set up and working but I just don't have the preloader for the three external images. However, I do have a preloader working fine for the site itself.
Here's the code for the external swf's:
ActionScript Code: loader.load(new URLRequest("1.swf")); var movieName:String;
I have a preloader that I downloaded... What I want to do is have this load only a certain percentage of the move before it continues to play the file.I assume that I have to edit the line of code that gets the total amount of bytes for the file itself... expressed below:
Code: Select alltotal = this.getBytesTotal(); // Movie Length
Since the variable is 'total' how do I make it load only 25% then start? I
Code: Select alltotal = this.getBytesTotal(25); // Movie Length ? Code: Select alltotal = this.getBytesTotal() * .25; // Movie Length ?
I would like an combobox to load jpg's into a container when a value is selected, and with fade out and in when a photo is change, and if possible a percent preloader. I have this as to make the combobox load swf's, but could anyone please be so kind to make it so it loads jpg's with fade in and out and percent loader? :
I have this preloader code that should not play frame 3 until it is all loaded, but for some reason while my prelaoder bar is showing progess, frame 3 is already loaded.

I made a preloader that works perfectly to load one of my .swf's on my machine, but how do I make it work on a site? I'm mocking up a site currently just using local files.
I work for the NPS, and they have an outdated CMS. I have no rights to upload an .html file, or edit one that the CMS makes. SO, I am forced to use their little deal to display my .swf files. url...I made an eHike in as3 Flash CS4. It has two scenes, the first scene is the preload, second is splash content and ehike content. The problem is I cant get the preloader to display in IE. I have all actionscript content exported to the second frame, as talked about here:[code]I have tried many different ways to load the preloader.there is a simple text field for the percentage, and a simple 100 frame animation. preloader_mc.[code]The CMS lets you decide in the popup window if it is resizeable or not. This works in IE (stopping people from resizing), but not in firefox, people can resize it. Is there any way to disable the resize in AS3? Again, I understand that your supposed to export the .html file with these settings, but I have no permissions to upload or create new .html files.
