ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Different MovieClips At Different Points In The Rotation, Instead Of Having The Same MovieClip For All?

"Rotation Around A Common Center" Tutorial Posted at the following link [URL]I was wondering if there was a way to load different movieClips at Different Points in the rotation, instead of having the same movieClip for all; and if so how?

Is it possible to have the child movieclip rotate separate of the rotation properties assigned to the parent? so ultimately giving the child element it's own axis?I've customized Lee Brimelows (gotoandlearn.com) 3D carousel to spin on the x axis to make it a vertical carousel. I've also rotated that by 45 degrees on the y axis to see all the items, and wrote a snippet of code to hide the left portion of the carousel. The entire carousel is contained within the 'container' movieclip, and inside of that are my carousel items (as seen below), with the larger item being the item in focus.
On rollover of the item in focus, I want to rotate it so it faces the viewer (as seen below),basically removing the 45 degree rotation applied to the container.The problem i'm running into is when you rotate the container (changing the rotationX of the container), the axis basically rotates with it, so when i rollover the next item 'in focus', the following happens..(in the example where it appears how it want it to, the carousel is at a rotationX of 0, so it works fine)

In the flash CS4 transformation window (Ctrl+T opens this window) you can set the 3d rotation and 3d rotations points. Changing the 3d rotation in actionscript is simply..
this.rotationX=90;
this.rotationY=90;
this.rotationZ=90;
But I cannot find any way to change the 3d center point in action script. Have been trying things like centerZ=40; centerRotationZ=40; etc...

I have come across a large, and very annoying bug in CS5. When animating with the same symbols over a long and complicated timeline, the rotation points of symbols earlier in the timeline begin to shift around very slightly. The more you work on the flash, the more they shift, so things that you did right at the start will begin to wobble around all over the place once your timeline gets very big. This is because, as we all know, when you tamper with a tweened symbol's rotation point, the symbol moves out of place while tweening.
This has completely ruined a large project I was working on that I began in CS4.
I am using a Mac Pro running 10.6.3

I've got some flash 2.0 code that is supposed to add 100 points after a hitTest.
Code:
function onEnterFrame(){
connectA();
var strandID:Number
function connectA(){
for (var i = 0; i < 100; i++) {
if (this.hitTest(_root["A_" + i])) {
this.strandID = i;
_root.total = _root.total + 100;
}}
The problem is that it adds 100 points 70 times per second (the frame rate). It's supposed to add 100 points and stop. Here's a little more info: the hitTest makes two movie clips move across the screen together. Maybe because they're constantly hitting as they move, I don't know.

I'm trying to trigger some events (fading of nearby movieclips) based on cue points of a currently playing FLV. I'm using the FLVPlayback component (not Netstream) and have added cue points from inside flash (so they're "Actionscript" type). I actually found a nice article here: [URL] but it's AS2. To put it simply, let's say I have the following:
1) FLVPlayback component which has a parameter called "movie.flv" for the clip that it's supposed to play.
2) The instance of the component is called "movie_inst".
3) There are 2 cue points added through the component's parameters rollout, one called "point1", another called "point2".
What's the simplest code to tell flash "when you get to point1 I want you to do ___"?

So I have this flash app I'm making that uses a URL load to load a bunch of plot points from an address. When the loader finishes, it send the data to a plotter function. the plotter function clears the graphics in a shape called graphLine. It then draws a line from one plot point to another using the lineTo function. Basically every 3 seconds it makes this request and redraws the screen and updates the value of a textfield to the current y value. In flex builder 3, it works great in debug mode. The screen updates just fine. However, when I make the release build and test it out in a browser, it loads the data fine, but will not draw it until I stop the graphing process. Any thoughts on this one? Here's the code for the graphing function

How would be a class, for attaching a movieclip along a path, with rotation?Like:In a mall map (top view)How to make the movie clip 'foot steps', appear along a line (path) ?A line that should start at a point in the map (entry) and end at another (store).

I'm trying to use the MatrixTransform class to RotateAroundInternalPoint but it requires that the object I'm trying to rotate has matrix points defined. My question is, is there a way to add Matrix points to a non Shape object so I can rotate it, or is there another class that is used to rotate movie clips around internal points?

So I've found numerous tutorials on rotating to face the mouse, and none of the rotation equations work properly for me. I made my own that worked but then it just over complicated things such as bullet direction.
Code:
var radians:Number =Math.atan2(mouseY-ME.y,mouseX-ME.x)
var degrees:Number = (radians/Math.PI)*180;
ME.rotation=degrees;
That is the only code that changes the rotation of my movieclip. and it always seems to be about 45 degrees behind my mouse?

I'm using the new 3D tool in flash to let pictures rotate around there center. To not let it look distorted I will have to adjust the vanishing points for these images separately, however I can't find an option to control them separately. The seem linked for all my 3D movieclips. This will result in having only 1 moviclip animated right. So the question is: how do I control the vanishing points for each movieclip separately?

I'm working on a project where I have to load multiple movie clips and center them on the stage.
PHP Code:
loaded_clip._x = Stage._width/2;loaded_clip._y = Stage._height/2;
Unfortunately, in this case that doesn't cut it. The move clips I'm loading all have different registration points, and they end up looking anything but centered. Is there a way to center them based on some other factor other than the registration point, so that they look centered?

Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is moving a movieclip towards the direction it's facing.I've been scoping around the net for different ideas on how to do it, but I've only found AS2 tuts.
What I've done already is making the movieclip rotate around it's own center when the user presses either the left or the right arrow-key.What I'm now trying to accomplish is to make the movieclip move forward to the direction it is currently facing when the user presses up and vice versa for pressing down.

I am making a 'simple' template builder in flash which allows the user to add/remove text boxes and images to the stage.
I can rotate any of the movieClips fine but it rotates from the top left and i want it to rotate from midpoint. Is there a way to set the midpoint/rotation point using actionscript?

I have been tasked with trying to create a drawing tool that draws dotted lines as you drag the mouse across the stage. I can easily capture the points on MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE and store them in a vector and then draw the points as dots:
The problem is that I need to calculate evenly distributed points on an ever growing Vector of points so I can only draw the line between say every 5th point (say using modulus). I have been battling away with Bezier curve equations both Quadratic and Cubic but still can't quite figure out how to convert my Vector of points into an evenly distributed Vector of Points without sucking the life from the CPU.

Im a bit stumped on this. I have a movie clip named mcMain that the player controls, and i want him to have it detect collisions at certain points of the screen (like at a certain X and Y co-ordinates). I have an array that contains those values, which is shown below:
Code:
//Array that holds x position of points
var xPoint:Array = new Array(150,400,200,300,100);

I've a movieclip representing an arrow (with registration point in its middle). When I click a button, the arrow must point to a certain movieclip on stage. I use this code to execute the Tween:
TweenLite.to(arrow_clip,1,{rotation:degrees});
But I can't understand how to calculate the degrees. I tried the following with no luck:
var degrees =Math.atan2((clip.y-arrow_clip.y),(clip.x-arrow_clip.x))*(180/Math.PI);
I found the following is working but I can't completely understand why:
var degrees = -(Math.atan2(arrow_clip.x-clip.x, arrow_clip.y-clip.y))*(180/Math.PI);

How could I do: To attach a movieclip (e.g. 'footsteps'), along a path (other movieclip).
That would be within a interval for attaching one movieclip at a time.
I would need rotation, i.e, the footsteps, should rotate according with the path direction.

I'm having a problem with a little movement script I wrote for a MC I have. I believe it either has to do with variable scoping, or with a coordinate system problem. (If I change the xPos and yPos in the onClipEvent (load) to 0,0...then the MC starts in the middle of the field (MC) I'm trying to move it inside of.) Basically...the ActionScript you see below is a part of the "Player" MC...who is supposed to move around a "field" MC I have.
(I was assuming setting xPos and yPos to 0 would have the Player MC starting at the very top left of the entire screen...which instead it starts in the middle of the "field" MC.) Also - When I press the different arrow keys...the Player MC jumps around to different locations...but once at the new location the movement (in a single direction) works okay. I've attached the .swf.
onClipEvent (load) {
speed = 2;
xPos = 0;
yPos = 0;
this._x = xPos;
this._y = yPos;

I'm trying to kind of create an effect of 3d with a movie clip that rotates round its centre on all three axis. Is there any way of using just xscale, yscale, and _rotation properties of an image to give this effect (once you know rotation round z axis, y axis and x axis). I know it can be done I just can't get my head round the flipping over. Its ok when its at only one angle like imagine a photo spinning like some spinning doors but as soon as the angle changes is where I'm having problems. This is as far as I've got but its clearly wrong, it shrinks to zero size. Use right up and down arrow keys [URL].

Is it possible that I can have a fixed 3d rotation center for a movieclip.So if I have two movieclips spaced apart and I have rotated them, they rotate in their own axis rather than based on a single axis.
