I just created a basic flash file to play a video on my web page and it's taking several minutes to load before it starts playback. I'm using progressive downlaod and the file is in *.mov format and is 84MB in size. At first that seemed large to me for web play back, but I thought it could handle it since I thought the way progressive download works is that it would start playing the first frame right away and progressively play other frames as they download. However, this seems to be downloading the whole file first (or a major part of it) before starting any playback at all.
Is there some kind of setting I'm missing or is my understanding of the download incorrect and the file size is too large? Some vitals: I'm using Flash Pro CS5 - To create my flash file, I used the standard import video wizard and selected the a file that is "on my computer" and "load external video with playback component" and then, I selected one of the standard skins.- To deploy the vidoe on my webiste I have three files:
1) swf file containing the FLV component
2) the swf file related to skin
3) the actual video (84MB, mov file) - Web page includes/embeds reference to swf file
When page is loaded I can scroll it with mouse, But when I load first external movie clip the mouse scrolling function disappears. Is there anything I can do? I have search in flash mx 2004, and tryed to use // Mouse.onMouseWheel but nothing

It works when I run it on dreamweavers preview yet since I've uploaded it, it doesn't work. The file paths correct, the files are in the right folder yet still nothing. My question is, can this be done through Flash, but more importantly how to load a swf file this way. I noticed that the new Nike Running site has done it for their login functionality, where it loads the login box on a darkend screen, not sure whether the actual login is Flash but it's opened from within Flash.

I have two swfs on a web page but need them to start playing at the same time. Problem is that one file size is bigger than the other, so one loads before the other and starts playing earlier.

The text will be visible through a swf object and that is locked for selection or copy. it will read the text by HTTP request from a page url in server. Server will send encoded text, which will be decoded by action script. Is it possible to copy any copy protected text from inside a flash object. Because this text are not visible from the page source. Further as the text is encrypted only the action script can decode it. I am not able to make the action script ready to talk to browser and send some http request.
View 2 RepliesThe desired affect is simple: I have a single button... with each click I want it to load text into a dynamic text field and load a corresponding picture or movieclip.There are only three unique text/image combinations- after its displayed the third, with the next click I want it to just start over. All the text functions perfectly with each click.
The problem is:I use "createEmptyMovieClip" then use the resulting clip as a loader clip.. With the first click I want a movieclip from the library to load, so I use the "attachMovie" method- it displays the first library fine.With the next click I want to load an external swf- so I call the "loadMovie" method of the loaderclip... The external swf loads just fine replacing the first library clip.The third clip is where I have problems... now I want to load another library item into the loaderclip... so I tried using the attachMovie method again but the external swf remains static... then with the next click, I discover the first library item no longer loads and the external swf remains still playing- it's like once it's been loaded into the loaderclip it cant be moved...
So I tried adding the "unloadMovie" method in the code for the third click.. it successfully removed the swf... but the next line of code immediately after the unload statement, doesn't work. The line calls the attachMovie method for the loaderclip... but the library item doesnt load... Oddly enough, with the next click, the first library item now does load as if everything's fine... It seems like you cant use the unloadMovie and attachMovie on the same executing code? if that makes any sense... the basic idea was that if I couldnt get the attachmovie method to replace the loaded external swf, then I would use the unload method to remove it, then have code immediately after, to then execute the attachMovie method... but it still doesnt load the library clip. and I know it's not a type-o, because when I comment out the loadMovie and unloadMovie statements, it loads both the library items perfectly ? I need to send some text that has been entered in a Flash banner to a form field on a web page. Basically the user types into the text field on the Flash Banner and when they click the send button, it opens up the web page with the text already entered in the appropriate text filed there. I'm assuming I need to use LoadVars and I have some HTML code that does what I want but I need to work out how to convert it to ActionScript.
