i don't know why this isn't working.i got a button. and when it's pressed, i need it to go and play a frame in a movie clip. i'll test it and then when i click on it, i get this:
Target not found: Target="whoweare" Base="_level0.instance20.instance48.instance49"
this is the code that i am using:
on (press) { tellTarget ("whoweare") { gotoAndPlay (51); } }
I must say that learning by "trial and error" gives one an opportunity to see quite a lot of inventive error messages Here's my latest nut - needing a crack:In my animation I have a button utilizing the tellTarget command to activate another movieclip (which contains an effect for the button).The button and the "effect movieclip" (each on their own layer) are inside a movieclip called MC_mm_buttons which again is inside the main .swfWhen I test my .swf the output window gives me this error message:Target not found: Target="/test" Base="_level0.mc_mm_buttons"Trying to solve this problem, I isolated the button and its effect movieclip simply by making them again, from scratch, in a new document.. everything works fine, so I've got the tellTarget command and the interaction between the button and its movieclip nailed down.
Now, I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with me needing to specify that the effect movieclip (in my real .swf) is inside another movie clip and on a different layer.. still, I don't have a clue how I'm supposed to tell flash that in my script...So, to sum it all up:My button and movieclip are in the same movieclip but each on a layer of their own, the movieclip has an instance name of "test" and the button has a script like this:
on (rollOver) { tellTarget ("/test") { gotoAndPlay ("in")
got a file that contains scripting that creates and animates a carousel effect in a faux 3d space - it all works great on a mac and some pc's but on a lot of pc's it doesn't play nicely! i have added some script to carousel script so if the carousel item is clicked it rotates that item to the front and then loads the specified swf into level 1
pc's don't seem to recognise the alignment of the loaded swf and brings it in half cropped off the screen - appearing in the top left of the stage area.how do i tell the loaded swf to centre in the middle of the stage just like the rest of the elements in the movie? how to make the target mc sit at the highest level/depth - in other words above the carousel? this is my onclick script:
Code: function released() { output.text = this.txt_label.text + " has been selected";[code].........
how to target a mc properly after loadMovie. I have a swf where an mc is copied 15 times (so a 4*4 grid is formed) like this:
Code: Movieclip.prototype.duplicateMC = function(){ amount = 16 x = 1; y = 0;
[code]....
This works fine. However, when I load it into another movie with loadMovie, it doesn't work anymore because of the _root that I use. I thought that using _parent["copy"+i]._x += 50*x; would do the trick, but it doesn't.....
So I am tring to load a movie into a target. It is loading but all of the scripts are not working (some of the scripts are working). All the scripts work if I load the movie to a level instead of a target. But I need the movies to be in a target because of the motion that I want to apply to the loaded movie
I want to loadMovie in the target _root.as. And the url is dynamic: _root.as.loadMovie(_root.link) Unfortunately the movie isn't loaded I tried to convert _root.link to string but nothing
I have been loading an swf to target by using namedMC.loadmovie ("path+name", _levelN) altho I notice there is another method suggested here about using createEmptyMovieClip so it is all in script. Can anyone suggest a way of preloading all my separate swf files and then playing them at various specified points, like when the previous animation is finished/finishing. I have tried things like altering the _alpha and using namedMC.stop(); and namedMC.play(); but that aint working.
In my animation I have a button utilizing the tellTarget command to activate another movieclip (which contains an effect for the button). The button and the "effect movieclip" (each on their own layer) are inside a movieclip called MC_mm_buttons which again is inside the main .swf
When I test my .swf the output window gives me this error message: Target not found: Target="/test" Base="_level0.mc_mm_buttons"
I isolated the button and its effect movieclip simply by making them again, from scratch, in a new document.. everything works fine, so I've got the tellTarget command and the interaction between the button and its movieclip nailed down. Now, I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with me needing to specify that the effect movieclip (in my real .swf) is inside another movie clip and on a different layer.. My button and movieclip are in the same movieclip but each on a layer of their own, the movieclip has an instance name of "test" and the button has a script like this:
on (rollOver) { tellTarget ("/test") { gotoAndPlay ("in") }} on (rollOut) { tellTarget ("/test") { gotoAndPlay ("out") }}
When I roll the mouse over the button, the output window gives me this: Target not found: Target="/test" Base="_level0.mc_mm_buttons"
I want to load a movie loadMovie ("target", _root....) and so on. My question is can you target a specific scene in the load movie command?? I have a movie with a button that loads a new movie into level 0 so it replaces the first movie. Now in the new movie I have a button that unloads the new movie and loads the previous one. But it starts it off at the veru beginning of the movie. I want it to pick up where the first button click took place.
Description: HTML page containing MC1 and MC2. MC1 has container MC-C inside and MC2 has button with AS ... loadMovie ("MC3.swf", _root.MC1.MC-C") Problem: when I hit the button nothing happens When I assigned this script to a button inside MC1 (excludeing "MC1." from target value) than it works. Would anyone know how should my target value look like to achieve desired load into container within MC1?? conditions: (MCs 1,2,3 are in same folder, with correct instance names, have tryed few variations but no success)
Q2: Kirupa's Image Pan - is there any way how to integrate whole thing inside another MC without messing it up like me?? Cause I have noticed that it is fixed to "stage.width" and stage of the MC I wanted to plece it is a bit different.
So I'm trying to get cute again by building stacks of buttons dynamically, then labeling them from an external text file. The code I have so far is as follows:
[Code]...
But I keep getting the error message: Target not found: Target="undefined" Base="_level0" I'm not sure what this means.
What is the difference between target and currenttarget in flex?What is the difference between Target and Current Target in Flex especially in mouse events.
var profileholder:profileHolder=new profileHolder ;
inside of profileholder is another movieclip(infoBtn) that acts as a button.when the mouse is over profileholder i want to do something with infoBtn like:
//profOver is the over state of profileholder function profOver(e:Event) { e.target.infoBtn.alpha=1; }
this doesn't work and brings up this error:ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property infoBtn not found on flash.display.Loader and there is no default value. at main_fla::MainTimeline/profOver()
i also tried: function profOver(e:Event) { var item:profileHolder=e.target as profileHolder; item.infoBtn.alpha=1; }
and get this error:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I am really stuck with a loadmovie action that I cannot find the solution to. I have a website that I had to split up as the loading time was too long. I have used a loadMovie function and it loads the external movie but the problem is that the external movie requiring a little bit of time to load I want a preloader to come first.
I have attached screenshots of this (wssmain liks to the arch_mc1) . The problem is that the movie loads but the preloader doesn't play. Anybody has any ideas why?
The first screenshot shows the wssmain whereas the second (preloader2) shows the arch_mc1. If the fla files are required I will make them available for download.
I load my external image into emptymc which is inside mc_container:loadMovie("myimage.jpg", mc_container.emptymc); //placed on main timeline.This works fine. However when I go to a different frame within mc_container(specifically a frame without an instance of "emptymc") emptymc gets unloaded. As soon as I go back to a frame containing "emptymc" it no longer has the jpg.Is there a way I can keep the jpg loaded in emptymc without having to load it again?
I am very new to Flash and have been going around in circles for days trying to figure this out.I can't get swf to loadMovie when on server. I understand I need to use the path relative to the html page.[code]
I've been trying to load a simple .swf (home.swf) and have it play automatically on my existing fla project (as2). These are the steps I have taken.. 1) create MC, named "holder" 2) within first frame of MC, entered in.. loadMovie("home.swf","holder"); Nothing is showing, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. If you can help, I can send you the files I'm working with.
I am working on my first flash website and have been working on loadMovie & unloadMovie. The commands have been working for me and it will load & unload the external .swf in a contentHolderMC. The problem that I am encountering is the loaded .swf width is correct but the height is being reduced, I would guess to about 75%. Is there a way to maintain the external .swf's size? Even if I need to put the code into the external .swf.
I have tried creating a mask inside the contentHolderMC to match the size of the external .swf. When I have looked around for clues to the resizing, I am finding tutorials on how to resize the external .swf into a smaller Movie Clip. That's not what I am trying to do.
I have this problem: in my swf on frame 100 is a code:
Code: loadMovie("second.swf", _root.clip1);
I have mc with isntance name: clip1 The movie second.swf loads into the position of clip1 but it's originally very big and I want it to make it smaller so it will fit to my site, if possible i would also like it not to be resizeable (so when someone will have smaller browser window it wouldnt move)
Let's state a few facts upfront: Livedocs tells us that dynamic classes enable us to add member variables and member functions. We are told that all classes ultimately derive from Object, which is dynamic, and that dynamic classes must be explicitly marked as such -- inheritance doesn't apply to dynamism.
Object is a dynamic class.Date is a final dynamic class.XML is a final dynamic class.You can create your own final dynamic class and it ought to behave (in terms of dynamic capability) exactly as do XML and Date, above. In fact, final shouldn't affect the issue at hand at all but I include it for exactness in my comparison against the "troubled" XML class.
[Code]...
I used Date as it is another core class that is final dynamic. Also note that member variables work just fine in all of the above classes. Only member functions have a problem, and only in class XML.
My conclusion is that not every class in AS3 is derived from Object, some are likely mocked up to look that way but are in fact derived in some other way in native C++, which I believe is what Adobe uses to write the AS languages.
QUESTION: Do you see any flaws in my logic? Or is this class actually bugged? P.S. For those interested as to why I wanted to add functions to XML, I wanted a way to encapsulate complex access to my XML data model.
I'm working in Flash CS3 and until this point I've had no problems. I put together a test movie and after testing it, exported it as both a .swf and within an html file. Testing locally, the html works fine. However, when I put in the external URL that points to the same file, the .swf fails to load. Changing the path to point to the .swf itself, I'm told the page cannot be found. Did I miss something in the exporting process? No other movie published so far from this configuration has behaved in this manner.
