I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.

View 5 RepliesI am using AS2 and am trying to load text with the html formatting in place. The button for render text as HTML is clicked and I tried using the action script with the same purpose. Some of the html reads, such as <b> instead of <strong>, the <p> and </br> tags are working. I cannot however get <i>, colors, etc... to work. I have embedded all of the characters and glyphs into the dynamic text field. Nothing seems to be working for several of the text attributes which are present in the .txt file I'm loading.

1- How do I get the text to be selectable in the PDF created from FTE > postscript method
2- (If not that) - How can I create a PDF from flash where the PDF is identical to what I'm seeing on screen - basically doing a direct final-rendered-Sprite to PDF .... if there's a way to make that PDF manually, then maybe I can embed the fonts manually...
Some context:
- How we're using fonts - they're SWF's created from teh fonts using [embed] and embedAsCFF=true for use in FTE
- I thought of using FTE only for typesetting / layout - and when we get the TextLines, using the good old flash...TextField (which does become selectable in final pdf) .... but I cant do that because some of our textlines have several variations of font styles and inline (GraphicElement) images on the same line.... I think its impossible to detect all of those variation can create the appropriate number of textfields?

View 2 Repliesclient decided on a different font (after we finished everything), so i had to go change the font. in one page, whenever i change the font in one text block, the XML-driven lists stop being rendered. they load, according to the trace statements, but nothing actually renders. when i change it back to the original font, boink! everything is just fine. if i delete the text and create a new field... same thing. i finally had to hide the thing and make a new text block in it's place.

In an older, different version of the site made in AS2 it loads the same xml with no whitespace.I've tried setting xml.ignoreWhiteSpace = true but it doesn't seem to change anything.

I'm making a four column layout with four dynamic text fields and text that loads from a html file. The structure of the site and which html file is to be loaded on which page is specified in xml, but the actual content on each page needs to be editable in separate html files (different people will do the editing, and I don't want them to go around messing with the structure).
The problem is that I need the four columns of text to be loaded from a single html file. I was thinking that I could make four paragraphs <p>paragraph1</p><p>paragraph2</p> etc., one for each column, but how do I load them each into a separate dynamic text field?
So I have a dynamic text field that is loading an external .txt file with html coding in it.I can get the text to load and display properly, however I now want to make a custom scrollbar and I have no clue how to even get it to work.I've tried a few things and just can't figure it out. I want to make a custom one instead of using the component one. It doesn't even have to be a traditional scrollbar, I would much rather just use an up and down arrows. I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I am trying to implement htmlText for a text component as the returned string is in html format (with the html tags etc). If I put a text=.... i get the full text, but with the tags (which i want converted to html). So i use htmlText=.... and it formats it fine, but cuts half the text from the variable. The text im supposed to get back has tons of html tags, and maybe its cutting it somewhere because of the tag its not able to escape... How do i fix this?
View 1 RepliesI am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.
