ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash HTML Rendered Text Fails And Symbols?
Apr 6, 2011
Flash's dynamic text rendered as HTML will not render or Try it yourself, it wont work.Yes, I embedded the symbols, I also embedded ALL 39477 GLYPHS just to test it - and it still didn't work.
Yes, I tried £ ¥ (insertAmpersandHere)#163; (insertAmpersandHere)#165; I also tried %A3 %A5 but perhaps I applied it wrong?Here is my code - all instances in the script of £ ¥ %A3 %A5 do not show the symbols:
Remember, this text is to be rendered as HTML - when it is not rendered as HTML, the symbols are rendered (because I embedded them) but I want this text rendeed as HTML, unfortunately, Flash overlooked the 2nd and 4th of biggest economies in the world's currency symbols?
I've used, for the first time, the htmlText method to render the text in my textfields as html text that is provided by a xml. So in the xml i introduce the html tags. Don't have experince with this so i'm asking you how can i do it properly? Every time i use a tag except <p> i get another extraline. For instance: "This is my text. <b>Starting</b> with a boldy little line."
I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text. Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.
I have a dynamic text box, which is fed text from an external text file. The "render as HTML" button is turned on. On the external text file, what is the HTML tag for centering text? I tried CENTER, but it failed.
I am using AS2 and am trying to load text with the html formatting in place. The button for render text as HTML is clicked and I tried using the action script with the same purpose. Some of the html reads, such as <b> instead of <strong>, the <p> and </br> tags are working. I cannot however get <i>, colors, etc... to work. I have embedded all of the characters and glyphs into the dynamic text field. Nothing seems to be working for several of the text attributes which are present in the .txt file I'm loading.
I'm trying to figure out if this is possible to execute on a dynamic page.http:[url].....Basically, after all the page has been rendered, Flash needs to take the rendered page and apply 3D transformations to it, and at the end, restore the original rendered page.
I am using jcupload whats nice is all i need to write is the below and the flash+js does the rest
<div id="jcupload_content"></div>
However this is the ONLY flash on my site. If the user doesnt have flash (think ipod) i'd like to fallback to an html implementation. How do i do it? I know logically ppl wont be uploading via ipods but if i were to play music i can use a flash audio player fallback to html5 audio in that case.
I have a flash header that I show on one of my customers sites, but instead of creating an entire new website for non-flash, is there a way I can have it render a static image version of the header instead of either redirecting or just not rendering the flash content at all (ie with a FAIL message)?
I wrote a huge post first but thought I shouldn't drop a wall of text here. Here's a summary of a problem that I'm hoping you all can provide some insight in:I have a web app for a client which uses Flash text engine api (not TLF) to layout some text in a report. The text requirements are specific so we like using FTE for typography. Now that the text is looking perfect to the client, how do I make what I'm seeing on screen into a pdf that looks identical?Tried purepdf or alivepdf sprite->bitmap->pdf approach... terrible results - we need resolution independenceLooked at purepdf api - doesn't seem to be a way of converting the final sprite output directly to the pdf.... seems like it'll require me to use their own API for typesetting / layout... which defeats the purpose of using FTE to do this (we'd lose kerning / ligatures etc that way?)Finally using the flash -> print -> using postscript driver like pdfconverter or cutepdf -> pdf ........ this is great because the pdf looks exactly like display and is vector-output (res-independent), BUTUsing FTE, the pdf created this way doesn't have selectable text in pdf! flash TextFields -> pdf do retain selectability. Basically pdfconverter doesn't embed the fonts in the pdf when FTE is used... it DOES embed the fonts in a pdf made the same way with same fonts in MS Word or something

1- How do I get the text to be selectable in the PDF created from FTE > postscript method
2- (If not that) - How can I create a PDF from flash where the PDF is identical to what I'm seeing on screen - basically doing a direct final-rendered-Sprite to PDF .... if there's a way to make that PDF manually, then maybe I can embed the fonts manually...
Some context:
- How we're using fonts - they're SWF's created from teh fonts using [embed] and embedAsCFF=true for use in FTE
- I thought of using FTE only for typesetting / layout - and when we get the TextLines, using the good old flash...TextField (which does become selectable in final pdf) .... but I cant do that because some of our textlines have several variations of font styles and inline (GraphicElement) images on the same line.... I think its impossible to detect all of those variation can create the appropriate number of textfields?
Beginner question here to which I haven't found an answer to: I have an external XML document loading within flash and was wondering if it it's possible to change a frame/label from withing HTML rendered content using getURL?
This is probably not possible, but is there a suitable method for doing so when it comes to loading external content and controlling the timeline?
I have an odd problem in CS4/AS3 with one of my flash files where text is incorrectly rendered if the movieclip containing the text has a 3d matrix transform and quality is set to medium or low. It is easy to reproduce:
I'm working through a book called Foundation Game Design with Flash, and I'm finding the Flash IDE confusing. I've been programming for several years, so working with AS3 directly is far easier than trying to understand symbols and nested symbols and the difference between graphics and movie clips and scoping issues and all that -- when tied into the IDE.
How many of you who are making games in AS3 also use the Flash IDE? Can anyone recommend a resource that is AS3 heavy and Flash IDE light? I don't care how much time I may or may not save by using things like the timeline, I just want to understand what I'm using.
I have an animation with some text in tlf on it. when i export an swf i can see the writing but when i want to export an avi file i can't see it. Can anyone help me with this? It's really important to my project..
The problem is that i need to count symbols in external .txt file djs/1/text.txt If this external text file contains more than 50 symbols then i need to echo some text in Dynamic flash text(Myflashtext.htmlText ="some text";) in my Flashmovie.
client decided on a different font (after we finished everything), so i had to go change the font. in one page, whenever i change the font in one text block, the XML-driven lists stop being rendered. they load, according to the trace statements, but nothing actually renders. when i change it back to the original font, boink! everything is just fine. if i delete the text and create a new field... same thing. i finally had to hide the thing and make a new text block in it's place.
I have two SWFs on an HTML page. One loads fine and the other (loaded externally) apparently fails.
I get this from the server:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
I get this when testing it locally in Safari:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I don't really understand where the hick-up is... because my paths are actually quite simple. All my flash files on the website are located in the same folder. The first one loads in fine, but the one being loaded into it does not. When viewing the SWF by itself, everything checks out as well.
I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information. There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.
I was trying to send 4 paragraphs to a .swf element. I have no idea how to what to do. I tried using FlashVars but I feel like i need to drop in some actionscript to be able to work with the vars conceptsNdisciplinesPar=(some text)&cultures&countriesPar=(some text) etc... Is there an easy way to get access to this text in my .swf?
I am designing a web application in Flex 4 and currently facing an issue rendering advanced HTML tags and entities in Flex 4. All I want to do is basically render an HTML text coming to me something like the one given below:-
I used this tut to create a menu. [URL] And my question is; Can I make the slider to move after a movie clip symbols instead of button symbols? That way my menu would be animated.
I'm trying to solve a similar problem as was described here - to create a Windows Service for taking snapshots of rich webpages (html+js+flash) and saving them to a PDF file.
The bundle Firefox+cmdlnprint did the trick for me. I wrote a simple program running as a service that invokes Firefox to make a PDF. All seems well, the PDF gets created, but Flash is completely missing. Although, when started not as a service, Flash renders just fine.
Can anyone shed a light on what blocks Flash from rendering and if there's a workaround?
I'm attempting to use CS4 (PC/Vista, if that matters) to create a SWF file that will basically act as a "library" of commonly used symbols. This SWF would be loaded at runtime by other SWFs, which could then use the symbols within it, including all art and code assets.
Is it possible to read numbers and names from a Flash page before they are rendered by the browser ? The webpage is changing dynamically and I would like to capture the data every about 60 minutes. I have no access to the Flash website but I might be able to modify an open source browser. OS is Win 7 and I can speak a little C++.
I have few button symbols designed in my flash movie. My flash movie is displayed in 9 regional languages and hence I have used TLF text for Flash Movie which easily displays Unicode text.SWF displays text properly when i publish it. but once i view the same SWF in Internet Explorer or any other browser it does not display text in those buttons.
If an object exists outside of Flash's stage boundaries, is on the Display List, and is visible, is it causing a performance hit from Flash rendering it? In other words, does Flash render what isn't seen?
This leads me to believe so: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/170203/how-do-you-make-flash-not-render-an-object-on-the-stage
I'm having trouble with dynamic text. I have a symbol with dynamic text fields in it. In the action script file I want to change the text of these text fields like this: textFieldName.text = "new text"; But nothing happens. I cannot see any text when I play the movie. Also I tried adding a dynamic text field directly to stage and change the text with textFieldName.text = "new text"; I can see the new text when I play the movie. Then I added my symbol that has the dynamic texts in it, and the text of the text field that is directly on stage disappears. When I delete my symbol, the text is back there. I'm using Flash CS5 and ActionScript 3.0.
