Flash :: Html - Send Text From HTML To A .swf Element
Sep 7, 2011
I was trying to send 4 paragraphs to a .swf element. I have no idea how to what to do. I tried using FlashVars but I feel like i need to drop in some actionscript to be able to work with the vars conceptsNdisciplinesPar=(some text)&cultures&countriesPar=(some text) etc... Is there an easy way to get access to this text in my .swf?
I am designing a web application in Flex 4 and currently facing an issue rendering advanced HTML tags and entities in Flex 4. All I want to do is basically render an HTML text coming to me something like the one given below:-
I need to get the position (x,y) of the last char in a textField with html text inside. I try with numlines and getLineMetrics, but that only work for non-html text. If I have a text like
Code: <p>text one</p><p>This is the other text</p><br><br>
I need to have the position on the stage of the last "t".
I have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information. There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.
I would like to make an input text field in flash as2. What I need is when the user write down an answer it will direct him to an html page I created. There are 3 answers and 3 pages, so they will write down one of the answer and when they will click "enter" they will be redirected. I understand you can do it with "if" statement but I don't know how!
I have an html page with a flash movie embded in it, that flash movie contains a button. I want to pass the id of an element on the containing html page to the flash movie so that when the button is clicked, I get the text of that element in flash (i.e. innerHTML).
So, my question is basically two questions:
How to pass something from HTML/Javascript to flash? How to access an element on the containing html page from flash? (What ActionScript code is needed to do that?)
Check out the link below, as you can see my overlay is hidden behind the flash element. However, the blue bar with the 'Continue' button appears above everything. Does anyone know what CSS changes I need to make so the overlay will appear above everything below it? The background loads an iframe.

I can't add wmode="transparent" to the embed tag, since I have no control over the page loaded in the iframe.
I have an HTML document with a Flash object and an absolutely positioned HTML element above it. If I set the HTML element's opacity CSS property to any value less than 1, the Flash object (that is actually covered) receives mouse events. This problem cannot be reproduced with pure HTML elements. Furthermore, Flash only receives hover events, so I cannot click below the layer.I put a demonstration of the problem online.I get this behavior in Firefox 3.6, Safari 4.0 and Chrome 5.0 in both Mac and Windows. Flash plugin version 10 is installed. Is it a bug or the the normal and expected behavior? If the latter, then how can I prevent Flash receiving events when it is covered with a translucent layer?
I have a Youtube video on my homepage, and now I need a modal to display on certain events. For some reason, even when adding <param name="wmode" value="transparent"> to the Flash object, it still covers the HTML elements (with higher z-index too).I've got it on JSfiddle.I figured maybe an iframe could solve this, but that would require me to make a new page just to put the video on.
I'm working on a page that has some ads on it. One of them loads in an ad with wmode=window.I don't have the ability to change that flash code. I need to put a modal box on top of that flash element, but every combination of using z-indexes and iframe shims has failed (both manually and using bgiframe). Is there a way to place html content on top of a flash element with wmode=window? I'm testing this in chrome so far.
I am trying to send email within an Adobe AIR app using AS3's navigateToURL() function. I have successfully sent over plain text, but was wondering if there is a way to set the content-type to text/html because right now it sends the HTML as brackets. [code]...
Hi, i'm working on a project where i have some major functions on the page working in over a flash file, and i was wondering if there was a way to interact with the html page, based on actions made in the flash file, without having to use ajax or something like that.
I want the flash file to send some kind of data to the html page, much like a javascript, WITHOUT having to reload the page or submit it like a form action.
Also, just a little variable. (xmlfile=text.xml) (I want to have the same swf-file but use it in several html-files (and I have one xml-file to every html-file))
I have created a textArea element but cannot display my HTML content. If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe. Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.
I'm trying to send a variable from an HTML into Flash in order to modify it based on the value. I generally know how FlashVars works in AS3, so I did some quick reading for AS2 and made a test swf.

In my swf, the first frame only has this code:
Code: if (_root.tester == undefined) { var passed:String = "Nothing Passed"; } else { var passed:String = _root.tester; } texty.text = passed;
According to what I've read and what my code is, this should work. It should read the value of video as the value of _root.tester (check the HTML code), yet it's always listed as undefined.
-1 large html (home.html) file houses 2 html files (aaa.html and bbb.html) -aaa.html consists of 1 swf button -bbb.html is empty
question: is it possible to click on the button in aaa.html and have the action occur in bbb.html? (for example, clicking the button in aaa.html will load a swf in bbb.html)
I'm trying to dispatch MouseEvent for HTML component in an AIR application. This way I want to simulate a click on HTML elements with ActionScript code. Here is my AIR app code:
I've noticed a problem I've been having when embedding my 620x460 SWF in HTML. I set width to 620 and height to 460, just like my SWF... But parts of the SWF doesn't fit into the HTML element. I have to add a an extra pixel or two on each side (of the HTML element), for everything to fit.
In most browsers, when you have one in focus and you type something, the combobox will try to find the value within its options and show the closest one. I was wondering what kind of algorithm is used for that.I don't think its Levenshtein or similar since it only works with the beginning of the string.I'm thinking that it works by keeping a buffer of what has been written, and tries to find a string starting with that... if it doesn't find anything, it clears the buffer, and searches a string beginning with the last character pressed.I already prototyped this, and it works quite ok, with one caveat... In HTML, when you repeatedly press the same key, it will rotate between all options starting with that character.
