I can't add wmode="transparent" to the embed tag, since I have no control over the page loaded in the iframe.

What is the name of this flash movie called when you come to site and big flash movie comes up and pushes everything down? It has a option to reduce size by clicking button.

Not sure if I should be posting here or on the Dreamweaver forum [there's a similar post there], but .. I hope to have some music on my site and have been playing around with various Flash based, XML driven, mp3 players [though I'm a beginner with Flash]. I've got one to look [more or less] as I want it but it doesn't work! It works when previewed within Flash CS4 but not within Dreamweaver. View 6 RepliesIve just finished a flash web site that ive used a lot of XML for loading my images from thumbnails. Its works great.
Except it takes maybe 3-4 minutes to load. I think whats happening is its loading all the images in that XML file before it even shows the first thumbnail, so thats like 2MB its loading.
Is there a way to preload all of the xml files at the start on my Flash splash page?

Im trying to create a simple splash page that plays a video using the FLVplayback component. The problem is that it wont redirect the browser tot he homepage at the end of the playback.I've set up my FLA by putting an instance of the FLVplayback component in the only frame on the stage. I put another keyfram on a separate layer for actions and included the following actions (instance name of the FLVplayback component is videoIntro)

i seem to be able to reference the component correctly because i can set the contentPath. What im doing in that actionscript is identical to what i have seen in some tutorials.
I currently have a splash page which uses a variety of tweens to make an animation of a character running. The splash page also has music playing in the background and a small skip button (located in the corner) which is given the instance name "reelButton". I want the splash page to link to a loading page (file name "loading_screen.swf") I have created which uses a black background and an animation of a skull rotating. When I press the skip button, it does navigate to the loading page but the character running from the splash page and the music is still playing. I know its because I need to use the unloadAndStop command to stop all the movie clips from the splash page. But even with this it still doesn't seem to work.

I just want to stop all the sounds in the splash page. I don't need to give the user the option to start them again. The thing is only 20 seconds long. I just want them to be able to turn off all sounds for their convenience. I found this piece of code:

I'm not quite sure how to work this, but I want to have the splash page play automatically then go to the main page of the website. Can someone help me out with this? I'd like for users to be able to simply click a button on my page, instead of having to need to manually take a screenshot of the entire page and then crop the image to show only the SWF element.I found a Jquery method, although I am unsure if it could work with SWF files. It basically captures an area of an Image element on the page and allows you to save that as a separate image. What I would need however, is to capture the SWF as the image instead. So, my question is basically two questions:
How to pass something from HTML/Javascript to flash? How to access an element on the containing html page from flash? (What ActionScript code is needed to do that?)
I made a very simple video player. It's working very nice in all browsers. The issue is only with IE9. The video is playing only on the first visit of the page. For example you open the page, you watch the video, click the back button and decide to visit the same page ... and the video is not showing at all. If you refresh the page the video appears again. I asked some people to test it and they have the same issue. Is this an IE9 / FP 10.3 bug?[code]

View 2 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.

I have an HTML document with a Flash object and an absolutely positioned HTML element above it. If I set the HTML element's opacity CSS property to any value less than 1, the Flash object (that is actually covered) receives mouse events. This problem cannot be reproduced with pure HTML elements. Furthermore, Flash only receives hover events, so I cannot click below the layer.I put a demonstration of the problem online.I get this behavior in Firefox 3.6, Safari 4.0 and Chrome 5.0 in both Mac and Windows. Flash plugin version 10 is installed.Is it a bug or the the normal and expected behavior? If the latter, then how can I prevent Flash receiving events when it is covered with a translucent layer?
View 5 RepliesI have a Youtube video on my homepage, and now I need a modal to display on certain events.For some reason, even when adding <param name="wmode" value="transparent"> to the Flash object, it still covers the HTML elements (with higher z-index too).I've got it on JSfiddle.I figured maybe an iframe could solve this, but that would require me to make a new page just to put the video on.

I need to put a modal box on top of that flash element, but every combination of using z-indexes and iframe shims has failed (both manually and using bgiframe). Is there a way to place html content on top of a flash element with wmode=window? I'm testing this in chrome so far.

I have a very interesting challenge here for my Flex project development. I now have an experiment wizard which consists of three states.In the first state,the user selects the elements they are interested from the periodic table. When it comes to the second stage,now we have the elements that the user selected in the first state,and these elements are shown on a list A',the user can select an element from there. Also,I have an xml file that has the intensities and wavelengths for all the elements in the periodic table

when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"
