ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Banner Ticker-Tape Style
Jun 19, 2009
I am going to attempt to make a Banner Ticker-Tape style .swf for my bands website. It will host News and Gig information, BUT I want the other band members to be able to update the information. At the moment we use myspace for our gig listing for example and rather than changing the info multiple times I was wondering wether there was a simple way to extract the gig listing from our bands myspace for use in Flash?
I've been trying to figure this out myself for 2 weeks and just can't get it. I have done this the non-actionscript way by making each movieclip move across stage with motion tweening, but I know it would be much more efficient and easier to modify if it was all actionscript.(To see example, look at bottom of my company's Web pagehave cobbled some code and think I know how to create the MCs and animate them across the screen: (note eventually this will include 50 logos, but to figure this out I'm starting with just three--logo1, logo2, logo3)
I'm trying to create a 'tickertape' (horizontal scrolling text that reloads and loops in a masked window once finished playing). At the moment for visual purposes I have generated the following. This is linking to a movieclip at the moment but doesn't loop once finished... it just keeps incrementally scrolling until it probaby ends up in infinity somewhere...
I've been scouring the net trying to find a code that I can use to create a "Ticker" feature for my site. Think of the US national debt ticker. Basically I'm looking to create a counter that will start at 0 and increase a certain number every second. This will represent a monetary figure so it would need to add "," in the necessary space as the number increases. I'll have a number of different variables that will make certain pages increase in value more quickly then others...
I am curious how I would go about creating a headline ticker that would have a 3d look? I am trying to make it look like a drum roller. The part I am having trouble with is the dynamic text and how to give it a 3d look.

working on an internal web project and the project sponsor really wants the home page to have an "iphone" style draggable scrolling content.the only place i have seen an example of it is here:URL...but i have no idea how i'd go about making it!Have dabbled in flash over the years, and have a good understanding of AS2, and basic AS3 - with some serious research and practice i could probably make this, but there are major time constraints on the project so it would be great if someone has a similar script to share please!There is budget to pay so it doesn't have to be a free script!
I need to make a ticker counter that starts from 0 - 0 rand and counts up for this portion of dialogue.
a commission of between R6,000 and R12,000 per month, again depending on the amount of each person's purchases. 200 customers gives you R15,000 to R30,000. And 600 customers gives you a return of R50,000 to R100,000. Per month.
I made an 11 minute movie in flash that has no interactivity, but does have video, photographs, drawings, and some visuals generated in flash, including text. The document size is presently 1280 x 640. Now I have to prepare the movie for Beta SP and HDCAM for projection in a cinema. The transfer house wants a file with Apple ProRes4444 codec. What would be the procedure to get the best image quality? This could include starting over in After Effects. Really, I never thought I would be showing the movie under these circumstances, or this big.
I have this animation: [URL] I need it to be like a circular tape playing. It has to play Nš1 image after getting to Nš8 or to Nš8 going backwards from Nš1.
I have some problem with movieclips. What i want to get is something like an image scroller with design of movie tape. The number of slides (in this movie tape) depends on number of nodes in xml, and ech slide should load external image and to be a hyperlink to a specified in xml url.
Everything is clear except this. How can i assign to every movieclip a design of a slide of the movie tape
I can prepare such a movieclip, i can duplicate it, but how can i every duplicate slide connect with a node in xml? i can easy make a slide by slide basing on xml, but how can i then assign the design?
I'm using Flash CS5 on Windows 7. I was working on a file and went to save (CTRL+S) and the Save dialog locked up and Windows gave me an error that said "Flash has stopped working. Close Program" So I did and restarted Flash. When I tried to open the file I was working on, Flash said "Unexpected File Format" The file size of the SWF is right, it's not 0kb or anything. This is about 3 weeks worth of work on here. I'm checking the backup tape for our company server, but that will still set me back about half a day (which is better than nothing I suppose)
[URL]..The first menu on the page is a good example of what I'm asking about.One major addition to this style/functionality... each link needs to be added via XML (for flash vars) and it needs a scroll bar for when the amount of links exceed the height of the content container or movie clip.So it needs the style elements as you see in the link and a scrollbar for dynamic content.
I'm posting this question because I've been searching for weeks and although I've found a plethora of examples of AS3 scrollbars, none - not one, has come close to something like this. I'm just curious how someone with real AS3 knowledge would go about the situation as I'm sure this is not as difficult as it's proving. Or maybe it is. I don't know.
Code: var myStyles:TextField.StyleSheet = new TextField.StyleSheet(); myStyles.setStyle("p", {color:'#808080'}); myStyles.setStyle("h1", {color:'#84ABDB'});
[code]....
Here is my problem - want to make a variable and put it between the style tags.
For instance:
Code: var blah:String = "Hello there"; my_txt.htmlText = "<p>blah</p>";
Without it just writing "blah" I need it to get the string from the variable.
I'm in the middle of making an interactive movie with events within it that act sort of like quick time events, only that there are multiple outcomes, making it sort of like an old "Choose your own adventure" book. I'm certain you can do what I want to do within Flash, but I have no idea how to as the only commands I know in Actionscript are stop(); and play(); and i'm not sure what the (); means, only that I needed it.
However, all I need is some simple commands to make it so that when the viewer hits the "a" or "l" key, the film will advance to another frame. These keys are meant to correspond to two different actions in the film depending on the situation - At one point, to leave through a door or dive through a window, and at another to dodge left or right away from an object. Though there is a third option for when the player does nothing, that should be simple enough to code so it's not a problem.
i want to use xml and flash to make a banner like the one that tv.com is using so when i want to change the image or the content of the banner, i can do that by changing the url of the image and some text in the xml file. what do i have to do with flash, actionscript, and xml? is there any open source that i can use?
Im currently doing a flash project at university and my intention is to make a magic 8 ball style animation, but i'm having trouble with coding the answers so they come out randomly.
From a textfiled, I traced htmlText and got below textformat, <P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Courier" SIZE="12" COLOR="#FF0000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0"><U>this is a test</U></FONT></P>" Then i save the above text as a htm file, but I opened it and found things changed, say the words become bigger. I do not why. I am not good at html languages. is there anyone can help me out a way to make the htm display the exact same style to swf?
I am trying to make a banner ad that allows me to tracks stats / click thrus.I thought I could use clickTags, but i don't know if I can since I need to have the MY link embedded in the fla.
I know that people don't generally like expanding flash banners, but my motive is simply to provide additional details for the sponsors of my forum[url]...
As you can see, in the upper right hand corner, I have a very simple rotating flash banner that shows the local companies that keep it going. I'd like to provide an additional service for people that are interested in using them, where each sponsor gets a drop-down menu that has a map, address, directions and contact information IF the user clicks on it, and wants to see the information for that sponsor.
Now I know enough about flash on how to create the actual banner itself, but for the life of me, I simply cannot make it extend over the rest of the page. It always ends up displaying the entire .swf file, no mater whether I make half of it transparent or not.
I've tried using several banners, including the Double-Click Ad Kit and some other expample flashes, but for the life of me, and through very extensive googl searching I can't find any clear cut instructions on how to make it extend OVER the rest of the body. I've found some pages that sorta mention how to do it, but I really have had no luck in duplicating it.
Im trying to make a menu with xml dynamic text with a style sheet (so i can change the font, colour, size e.t.c. via css) that reeds from the xml file and places the correct amount of buttons on stage based on the xml nodes. Here is a fla that ive been working on.
I need to make an image gallery that uses a carousel style animation...minus the 3D part.Basically, we'll have an array of images loaded from an XML file...could be any number of images.The stage will have 5 images lined up edge to edge. Each image will be 300x200, but masked to only show the middle 100x200 pixels. The image in the middle (the third one) will be fully visible, with the mask showing all 300x200 pixels of the image.When the user clicks on the next or previous buttons, the entire row of images will slide over and the new middle one will animate open to show the full image.
Screen shot of basic idea: Loading the XML and images and such is no problem...adding them to the stage and setting a mask for each, no problem.It's the actual functionality of getting the whole group to slide at once and the next image mask in line to animate into the center position while the current center position mask animates back down to normal.
I have to make a banner ad for my company's website that is 4 frames. It needs to play each frame about 3-4 seconds and then loop after 4th frame and continuously do so. It needs to begin this process when the web page is brought up without the user doing anything to it (so no clicking)And I have to keep it under 40k.I've found alot of tutorials for using external swf files and images but everything seems to use a button and I can't seem to get the coding down at all.
