ActionScript 3.0 :: Make A Menu With Xml Dynamic Text With A Style Sheet?
Mar 8, 2011
Im trying to make a menu with xml dynamic text with a style sheet (so i can change the font, colour, size e.t.c. via css) that reeds from the xml file and places the correct amount of buttons on stage based on the xml nodes. Here is a fla that ive been working on.
So as far as I can tell list-style-image (or any list-style at that) is not one of the available css properties enabled with a TextField.I want to have a list of items with bullets in front of them, but using a custom png image for the bullet.
How can I view CSS style sheet on a website online? I know how to view the html source code, but how can I see the Css style sheet without knowing the name of the file? I'm asking because I'm taking classes in css and I want to learn how people make things with css. [URL]
I've found a million tutorials on doing this by loading a CSS file, which is fine, but I don't want to load CSS...I'd rather just modify the thing with actionscript. I've done this before with one of my files, but can't seem to find it.
How to set inline style sheet to htmltext of textfield component as mentioned in the xml CDATA. At present , i am using textfield.htmlText propert , but i am not able to get the fontfamily as mentioned in the xml CDATA. The text is also not getting displayed in the correct format. The image is not coming in between the 2 question strings and its getting displayed at the bottom of the question while the 2 question strings("q text info", "with images also") are displayed as a single string. How to reformat the xml so that the image comes in between.
I'm using some dynamic text fields in my movie. When I change their contents in my code, they revert to the default style. For example, in the movie, they are Helvetica, style 75 bold. But when I update them with mytextfield.text = "something else", they revert to Helvetica regular. I have all the right styles embedded.
I'm trying to format some dynamically loaded text with CSS from a database via asp, I know that the asp works fine as it loads in, its just applying a style to the loaded text that doesn't work. This is a modified version from the Kirupa tutorial, but I cannot get it to work after many, many hours.
From a textfiled, I traced htmlText and got below textformat, <P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Courier" SIZE="12" COLOR="#FF0000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0"><U>this is a test</U></FONT></P>" Then i save the above text as a htm file, but I opened it and found things changed, say the words become bigger. I do not why. I am not good at html languages. is there anyone can help me out a way to make the htm display the exact same style to swf?
i have a problem with my flash menu. It's simple menu that contains one MC at start that works as button, u can edit size of the menu from external .txt file by changing the value of menu length. All that works fine , my problem is that every new duplicated mc contains dynamic text area as a label. Labels are also loaded from that .txt file , but that works only for the 1st mc because the newly created text areas in mc's dont have Instance Name set. How can i assign them from as?
Lets say i hava category and some articles in it (one article - few photos and description). I want to make a thumbnail menu in footer each thumbnail linking to an article. The question is how to make this menu to load automatically? If i put articles in category/article1, category/article2 (and so on) folders, I want to see two thumbnails linking one to first article, second thumb to secont article. If i add one more article, i want thumbnail to be loaded to site automaticaly
I've got a comboBox component on the stage, instance name 'combo'. I want to style the text. I followed the adobe instructions, but they seem not work, and I get no errors.
Code: import fl.data.DataProvider; import flash.text.TextFormat; var tf:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
I want to make a dynamic XML+FLASH menu, the texts (MainMENU & Sub-Menu) should be stored in a XML file & can be change anytime by just edit the XML file. it is a horizontal type, just like this : [URL] a dynamic text (MAINMENU) is under the icon <--- button , when click the button, a horizontal sub-menu appear. the number of sub-menu can be add/delete by editing the xml file.

I'm trying to make a dynamic menu. I load four buttons to the stage and applie code to each of the buttons. But it's only the last button loaded, that responds to onRollOver/onRollOut If I roll over the other buttons it's the last buttons that reacts all the time. I just can't see what's wrong. I'm sure it pretty simple. Here's the code:
Link to site: [URL] I've been trying to create a flash website menu that updates the menu text via an xml file. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I update the dynamic text in the menu, it doesn't seem to go through. I know I am referencing the dynamic text correctly as when I run the swf for the first time, I briefly see the correct text for about half-a-second before it is replaced by the default dynamic text. There is something that is overwriting the new text with the default values but I cannot see what is causing it.
I am changing the dynamic menu text in _root although the dynamic text exists in nested movie clips i.e. '_main.menu_mc.menu_panel_1.menu_button_1_1.menu_b utton_text'.

I have created a slider menu that moves when the arrows are clicked on either side. The images for this menu are loading dynamically from an xml file onto a 'container' in my fla.
Code is :
import com.greensock.*; import com.greensock.easing.*; var xml:XML; var images:Array = new Array();
I developed a simple slide menu, I create an animation of the menu (I grouped the buttons).All works fine, but when I try to use dynamic text to put the options using actionscript the text does not show.
I am trying to make a drop down menu for my website navigation. Right now my navigation is just text and I want to have drop down on only a few links. I only want to have text no shapes as buttons just text.
I'm trying to create a menu system and I've created a "Button" with a dynamic text field on it. I'd like to set the text of the button when I add it to the stage but I'm having some troubles. Does this work differently then a dynamic text field on a movie clip? I've done it successfully on a movie clip.
var test; test = new menu_item(); stage.addChild(test); test.x = 610; test.y = 100; test.menuText.text = "Hello World";
I get this error message in my output window... TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. at Main$iinit()
