How to set inline style sheet to htmltext of textfield component as mentioned in the xml CDATA. At present , i am using textfield.htmlText propert , but i am not able to get the
fontfamily as mentioned in the xml CDATA. The text is also not getting displayed in the correct format. The image is not coming in between the 2 question strings and its getting displayed at the bottom of the question while the 2 question strings("q text info",
"with images also") are displayed as a single string. How to reformat the xml so that the image comes in between.

I am having a major issue with a textfield. I have a dynamic text field which receives html so its htmlText I cant use the regular textFormat as the overrides the bold tags in the html. So I need to use css. Minor complication I have to do inline css as I cant load external data due to the project specs. Not a problem I have done inline css pretty easy. But they want a non web safe font. Again no prob I can embed fonts via the library. The problem is getting the css to use the embed font from the library. I have tried adding the font as a object to my code and then in the css referencing it via myfont.fontName, as a string etc.. 5

I've found a million tutorials on doing this by loading a CSS file, which is fine, but I don't want to load CSS...I'd rather just modify the thing with actionscript. I've done this before with one of my files, but can't seem to find it.

So as far as I can tell list-style-image (or any list-style at that) is not one of the available css properties enabled with a TextField.I want to have a list of items with bullets in front of them, but using a custom png image for the bullet.

I have a TextInput control which has a search functionality for the people in the system.It works fine. All I need is to style it in such a way that, it will be having search image on the right, which when clicked, will search. Its actually for look and feel part of the application, which will make the search box look much better.
It is exactly similar behavior implemented in search box embedded in Firefox.

I want to load a MovieClip inside a TextField inline with the text.
The TextField documentation says "HTML text that you assign to a text field can contain embedded media (movie clips, SWF files, GIF files, PNG files, and JPEG files)."
How can this be done with MovieClips? There must be a listener we can override.

I opened up FB3 today, without making any changes, I press F11 and now I am getting this error that I never have gotten before: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable CaratPicker2_inlineComponent1 is not defined.
I find it strange I am getting this error everytime now, when I never got it before and I didn't make any changes before I started getting it. Anyways it is coming from line 78 which is <mx:Component> the start of an inline item renderer.
So any ideas how or why this error is being thrown? I have never seen an error like this before and the message isn't very clear to me as to what the issue is.

I have a problem with inline components. I want to reach an inline component from another one.. From the first component, i want to change "enable" value of the linkbutton named "Add" which is in second component. Altough i gave "id" and "className" to second one, i could reach neither it nor its elements.. is there a way to do this?
*in first component there is a text input in "CodedDescriptionItemEditor" component. I want to validate it and according to validation enable the button that i mentioned above..These all are in a datagrid by the way. In datagrid, there is always a row that you can enter data and via the "Add" button you can save it. After save it seems as text..

I am trying to turn labels red when they can no longer be added to a list because of size requirements. The renderer works but Flex creates a separate component. I can't think of any good way to get that value to the new component.[code]

I have a flash file that loads dynamic text from a text file. When you press the space bar, it animates the text upward like movie credits. It works fine until I add more than 50 lines or so, at which point it delays showing the text until it's well into its scrolling.the kink here is that it only displays this error when it plays in fullscreen mode (which it is set to do by default, and what I need). if I escape out to window mode, it plays the text animation just fine.

I have an Actionscript project that was building using Flash cs3. Project have TextFields (Text engine: classic text, Text type: dynamic text). Since I upgraded to CS5 and published, I find out that my text not rendered. I use Font family Tahoma. And I just set Font family to Tahoma again and published. After that manipulations my text start render. But when somebody else try to open my project using same Flash CS5 IDE and just published that project again without any modification - none of my text is rendered again. And that going round in circles.

I have a component that has a sub-component they both use a shared variable from the model. The shared variable needs to be set by the parent component before it can be used by the child component. I did like this in the parent component:

But for some reason when the code inside myCustomComponent tries to use myVariable for the first time I get a "null" object error. This means I guess that the child component gets rendered before the group1_activateHandler gets called and consequently myVariable gets set.
What should I do to ensure that the parent container initializes the variable before the child component gets created?

I read that a TextField automatically uses a scrollbar when it gets too long. Can anyone suggest a possible work around for this? I feel the answer is staring me in the face and I just can't see it.

how could we remove auto tag adding by htmlText Property because when we apply htmlText for a textfield it automatically add <p> and <font> tag. In my project i am saving one textfield property <p align='right'> in server but when i am assigning this value from server its changing to <p align='left'>. So how could we remove this auto formatting by htmlText? As in [URL] link there is written also "When its htmlText property is traced, the output is the HTML-formatted String, with additional tags (such as <P> and <FONT>) automatically added by Flash Player." i want to remove this auto adding tag.

I have a simple class which contains a TextField. The textfield is populated with data from an XML file.i am using the code:
txtField.htmlText = xmlElement.node.node.text();
txtField.setTextFormat(txtFmt);
If i don't use any HTML tags, it displays fine. But if I add tags, such as <a> or <b>, etc... the text within the tags does not display. For example, if in the XML text i have:

I'm trying to create hyperlinks within TextFields by using a combination of plain text and the getCharIndexAtPoint method of the TextField object.
I've got everything nailed down except for the handCursor. To solve this problem I decided to place the TextField within a Sprite container and have the MOUSE_MOVE event attached to the TextField signal to its parent [Sprite container] that it should modify its buttonMode, useHandCursor, and mouseChildren properties to allow the hand cursor to be displayed, which I'm happy to say does work.
Unfortunately when I set the mouseChildren to false and the buttonMode and useHandCursor to true. The TextField within the Sprite container stops tracking the mouse...which I understand why but was wondering if there's some other combination that would allow me to do what I need to do?

I have 3 embedded fonts in my library and I have given them a class name.Now I would like to use these fonts in HTML in a TextField object.How do I do this?
