Lets say i hava category and some articles in it (one article - few photos and description). I want to make a thumbnail menu in footer each thumbnail linking to an article. The question is how to make this menu to load automatically? If i put articles in category/article1, category/article2 (and so on) folders, I want to see two thumbnails linking one to first article, second thumb to secont article. If i add one more article, i want thumbnail to be loaded to site automaticaly

I want to make a dynamic XML+FLASH menu, the texts (MainMENU & Sub-Menu) should be stored in a XML file & can be change anytime by just edit the XML file. it is a horizontal type, just like this : [URL] a dynamic text (MAINMENU) is under the icon <--- button , when click the button, a horizontal sub-menu appear. the number of sub-menu can be add/delete by editing the xml file.

how to make a dynamic drop down menu? I mean I have a button I press it and it ones the drop down menu in a movieClip. I close the movieClip and I press another button and the drop down menu appears again but with different content. The length of the menu is given by the length of an array, and the content of the menu are colors that have to change every time I press another button.

I'm trying to make a dynamic menu. I load four buttons to the stage and applie code to each of the buttons. But it's only the last button loaded, that responds to onRollOver/onRollOut If I roll over the other buttons it's the last buttons that reacts all the time. I just can't see what's wrong. New to flash. Started usig it less than a week ago. I have tried to find the exact tutorial to help me with these things, but they didn't cover exactly what I was looking for, or they where AS2. I'm using AS3. I don't know how to add a zip file to this post, so I uploaded it to a webpage.[URL]..
Question 1: I'm using a panoramic image as the background for my site. I want it to scroll/pan side to side following the mouse as it moves side to side. I would like it to ease in and out of the motion as well.
Question 2: When the mouse moves over the menu text at the top I want the other navigation buttons to appear under it for a few seconds, and become active, then dissappear if un-clicked.

so i am making a website in Dreamweaver cs5 and i am going to be importing a .swf animation for the menu bar i made in Flash. how do i make an action in Flash direct to a page of my website in Dreamweaver for example the index.html file of my web page.right now i have an actions layer with a stop(); command on the last frame of the animation i want to add a command under that, that will take the user to the index.html page of my website when the button is clicked. I have the button already made as well as the animation all i am missing is the code to go to the index.html page.

I can't understand how I should do to make a dynamic text field in cs5. I have tried to find a solution in weeks now and there is always the same answer. (Window > Properties), select a text type from the pop‑up menu to specify the type of text field: Dynamic Text.But the thing is that I can not find where in the properties I can select the type of text field. Where can I find It?? I have my properties panel on the right side and not at the bottom of the page.

I'm able to use a .txt file with basic html elements inside to display correctly. But I now have a structured document done in ms word. If I copy the html and try to save as a .txt file it will only allow to be saved as .rtfis there a way to preserve all the font, breaks and styles from a doc saved in .rtf or can I do this in a different way.

I'm in the midst of creating an extremely rudimentary game show display. It will essentially function like the big screen in Jeopardy.
I want to be able to have this operate in four stages. First stage: One frame will have all the question categories and values laid out in a grid. Second stage: I will click on a category and have it link to a frame that displays a question. Third stage: Once my participant answers the question, I will click once more and be linked to a frame that has the answer. Fourth stage: I click a link back to my initial grid of questions, but the category I just went through is now a different colour/blacked out/faded
I can do steps 1-3 quite easily, I just don't know how to make step four work. Just to clarify, say all the questions are in blue and I click "History for 200". I want to be able to go through, answer that question, come back to the grid, and have "History for 200" now be in red (or something). This would have to work for multiple questions, as it should show the participants which questions have already been asked.
I'm a quick learner and am just looking for the actionscript or whatever that requires this. My question wasn't really short enough for searches of Google and this forum to yield anything.

i have a problem with my flash menu. It's simple menu that contains one MC at start that works as button, u can edit size of the menu from external .txt file by changing the value of menu length. All that works fine , my problem is that every new duplicated mc contains dynamic text area as a label. Labels are also loaded from that .txt file , but that works only for the 1st mc because the newly created text areas in mc's dont have Instance Name set. How can i assign them from as?

I got a .fla file, which i have to edit. The file is used at a website, and contains the menu.Reads input from xml file.I can make the changes, logo and some static text.When publishing the file, the menu appears as pink boxes instead of rendering of the menu.There is not outpur errors, and everything else works as it should, just not the menu.

I wanted to make a xml menu, and I followed the technique of hga77 xml menu - hga77 I managed to put all the code in one frame, but I still have a "little?" bug, that I can't find... When you look at my example, and you click on "Technieken" (=Techniques)and then on "Info", the subitems are not always positioned in the right way. Another time the "Technieken" come to stand under "Info"... weird...

For the life of me, I can't get it to work. All I want to do is roll over and change the background color of the cell. I've tried adding it in as a behaviour in the submenu movie clips. But when i try to trace the onRollOver, nothing happens.This is how the XML looks.

I'm using a class to dynamically populate menu items based on arrays. The menu has to allow individual chapters and lessons to expand/contract to display the slides within.
I'm trying to set it up so that when the user hits the Chapter or Lesson item, it rebuilds the menu with the appropriate Chapter/Lesson expanded. I've got that part working, but I need to remove the elements that were previously added using addChild, but I'm not sure how to clear all the elements from an object?[code]...

I got the first part to work. The only problem is when I click any buttons it produces errorTypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at resume_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()not sure what I have to do. All it's supposed to do is when you click a button the target movie clip plays frames 2 - 10 and the previous movie clip plays frame 11 - 20. Not sure what's the problem here.

Link to site: [URL] I've been trying to create a flash website menu that updates the menu text via an xml file. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I update the dynamic text in the menu, it doesn't seem to go through. I know I am referencing the dynamic text correctly as when I run the swf for the first time, I briefly see the correct text for about half-a-second before it is replaced by the default dynamic text. There is something that is overwriting the new text with the default values but I cannot see what is causing it.
I am changing the dynamic menu text in _root although the dynamic text exists in nested movie clips i.e. '_main.menu_mc.menu_panel_1.menu_button_1_1.menu_b utton_text'.
