ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A File Data Center Sort Of Thing In Flash

Im making a file data center sort of thing in flash. What's meant to happen is: You click an button on the side of the list and on the display area beside it it shows the text info on that item and the button that you click to display that item! really simple but i dont know how to do it Instance names: what ever you want
Actionscript dyscription:
1. Click button
2. [instance name: "display" MOVIECLIP] displays the frame("display2")
3. Click other button in list and goto and stop ("display3")

I have been tasked with loading data into flash from a text file that is not properly set up for flash. it is structured like this:

Is it possible to make this work with flash? As far as I know, the file has to at least start with something like Variablename=string for me to even load the entire thing as a string which I would then attempt to split into useful pieces.

I'm having an issue when it comes to line thickness on movie clips, when a movieclip is flipped the line thickness vanishes due to Flash thinking I'm squishing the MovieClip. Is there any way I can make Flash not bother the line thickness when changing scale or some sort of alternative? Or is my only choice to kill line thickness altogether.

create those mix and match things that you often see on those fashion websites (You would select what variety of clothing you would want by clicking through the different items until you get the combination that you want, and then submit that choice to the store). I heard that it can be easily done in flash and so I am asking if it can be done.
I have nothing made at the moment. I just want to be able to know what the heck the client was talking about before I send her a contract. It'd be really messy if I come off as a guy who doesn't know what he's doing.

I followed the 3D Carousel tutorial from gotoandLearn http:[url].... I was able to put in my images and change the features to how I want, but for the life of me can't figure out how to make the thing auto rotate.

But when I added it it just gave me errors and the carousel would not load.

I have an AdvancedDataGrid with a HierarchicalCollectionView as its dataProvider. When I view the grid with the dataset I'm working with, and click the header of the column I wish to sort on, everything works perfectly. It sorts it hierarchically exactly how I would expect it to.What I want to do now is have the grid already be sorted when it is shown to the user. Is there a way to do this programatically? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this, and clearly it's possible since the AdvancedDataGrid has this built in.[code]This appears to do something as far as sorting goes, but it doesn't sort it in the same way as clicking the column header. "startDate" is a property of an object in theDataSource by the way.

I've been building a website for a friend: WEMI. The thing is I'm using a script I bought from Activeden.net which is awesome and works great for displaying external webpage's within you flash site. However, there are a few issues. If you visit the link above (WEMI) and navigate to either "Till salu" or "Frmedlade hem" you'll notice that the popup is not positioned in the middle. Also, the popup only goes away if you interact with it, such as scrolling down or something like that. You can't just click on another button, say "Kontakta oss" and continue navigate. I just won't go away.

I'm trying to make a popup alert modal window thing with an external class. I have a simple swf set up with just some random sample text, a rectangle, and a button. What I want to happen is for the "alert" class to initialize upon startup of the swf and then when I click the button (instance: btn), the alert will show up. If I get rid of all AS in the swf and set alert as the document class, it shows up just fine, so I think it should be working, but for some reason I get this instead when I try the button function:

I need help with page "Thumbs" (as first frame), page "List" (as second frame) and Image gallery (as third and base). So, every frame have one own XML file...When you choose some thumb or list line, you must came to this image in the gallery. After i publish a flash project and try to open the html file with a browser it is always at the left of the browser, why? In addition i have some problems with size too..
What is the size of the browser's area for viewing any content(i mean the parts below the navigation tabs to start menu)? How can i adjust my project to this? Note: My html settings seems true, it says "center center" but i dont know how to solve this.

say i have a movieclip which is scrolling back and forth horizontally ..
as it reaches its extremes ( were i want it to start being hidden) i do not want it to be completly hidden right away .. but i want it to look more and more hidden the further into the extreme it goes , so it looks as if its fading when it scrolls to the side.

i am looking for some kind of library which does CRUD easily using PHP and MYSQL.My goal is to make some app in flash AS3.0 , where i will be receiving some data from user and storing in data base , and perform CRUD opertaions. I dont want to be so much involved in writing php and sl query.My scenario is:
Data types : [ like user_profile data, etc]
add under data types 1 to many fields with various types..
Database tables and realtions etc should be done by my DREAM library, then user when select a Dtat Type, he is presented with related fields to fill up data.
I will be using Flash AS3.0 ( Builder or IDE ) to perform .If only i can find some php library i think AMFPHP can connect flash with php

My mainBar(movieClip type) consists of several buttons. If i don't put the codes above, the buttons would work as per normal. but if i put these codes, the buttons do not respond when i click on them. I want to make the mainBar, which is some sort of a control bar, transparent when the mouse cursor is not over it. when the mouse cursor is over it, then it will re-appear. but the buttons on the control bar doesn't seem to work when i try to use this feature.
