ActionScript 2.0 :: Make The Text Scroll Flash Automatically Throws In A Background
Jan 13, 2005
I have a text field containg an amount of dynamic text. I scroll it auotmatically with AS but it appears that whenever I make the text scroll Flash automatically throws in a background (on the text) and I can't seem to turn it off. I have an image behind the text so I need the background transparent. Any ideas?
I'm loading some product names into a textfield and I got few buttons with some of those product names on it.When a product button is clicked, how do I make the textfield scroll automatically and to display that particular item in a specified Y position?
Say, i have a text field with some text in it, and i want to make it have a backgruond with alpha value (as in partially transparent, not sure how to make it sound good ^^). This text field reacts to mouse events, such as clicks and rolls out/over, and each event changes the background color.
I've done some digging and ran across flash.text.TextField.backgroundColor and flash.text.TextField.background properties of text fields. They're cool, but not enough to solve the problem. And obviously, if I change the text field's alpha value, the text will also become transparent.
I know I can create a movieclip below the text field and alter its properties to acheive my goal, but I'm wondering if there is a simpler way.
I need to have an input text and various dynamic texts but i am trying to make a puzzle using a substitution cipher.
i want the end user to only have to change one of the fields which would automatically fill other matching fields rather than all of them typed manually.
I'm tryng to make a public static method call another method, but Flash throws error 1180, sayng that the method called by the static method is undefined.
I know you can use the mouse wheel to scroll through text in the flash componenet scroll pane, but is there a way to set it up to work with the code I have posted below?
fscommand("allowscale", "false"); bar.useHandCursor = dragger.useHandCursor=false; space = 5;[code].....
I've gotten to chapter 5 in my AS 3.0 classroom book but I need to use wisdom today (CHAPTERS before I gain it for myself),I need to create a custom scroll bar with buttons that function just like the UIScrollBar but more visually suited to our projects. the boss demands it.
I found several tutorials on creating the custom scrollBar, however, they don't include the buttons and I'm unable to find a tutorial on how to create a button scroller (I figured I could link them both to my "info_txt" after creating them separately). how to create an AS3 text scrollBar WITH buttons? how to create a nice scroll effect with buttons(if creating the scroll bar and buttons apart then linking them to the same text field is not possible or a faulty way to accomplish this).
If I use an Assignment within conditional, for e.g. if(userType='admin')
Flex throws a warning,unlike Java, which throws an error.Why should Flex be doing this, despite being one of the newest languages? 1100: Assignment within conditional. Did you mean == instead of =?
I've designed a Flash site in CS3 using Action Script 2.0 that has a main flash movie sorta floating in space over a gradient background. I want the gradient background to re-size with the browser, so I thought that the easiest way to do this would be to delete the gradient background in Flash and instead recreate the background in Dreamweaver using the repeat background option and then make the Flash movie's background transparent. (I hope I'm making some amount of sense here).
I've found a few tutorials on how to do this, but so far I just get a white background instead of transparent. I've tried choosing "Transparent - Windowless" under Window Mode on the HTML tab in Publish Settings. And I've tried selecting the movie from within DW and clicking the parameter button and adding a "wmode" parameter with "transparent" as its value.
The project I'm working on has a massive background image (800px wide by 2585px tall) that slowly scrolls upwards. Before, I was using the code [URL].. I modified the code to scroll upwards, but in addition to having a weird intermittent bug that occasionally displays a pixel-tall blank line after the image and before looping the next, it really doesn't seem to handle dynamic loading well (I've tried using several different preloader scripts and it breaks all of them), something that may not have been an issue with the initial implementation but is now that I'm using a monstrously huge image.
Thus, my question: a. Is there another bit of free, Flash-based infinite scroll code floating around that has support for lazy-loading background objects (Say, the existing background chopped in 6)?
I have created an mp3 player and I would like to make the area which displays the artist name and song scroll horizontally when the song is clicked on.I would then like this to loop until the next song is clicked or the song is stopped.
Here is the link to the player:
[URL]
Here is the actionscript:
import caurina.transitions.Tweener;import caurina.transitions.properties.ColorShortcuts;ColorShortcuts.init(); var auto_play:Boolean = false;var i:Number;var total_items:Number;var current_no:Number = 0;var flashmo_xml:XML;var flashmo_item_list = new Array();var item_group:MovieClip = new MovieClip();

I'm having some trouble understandig this. What i'm doing is using a very basic urlLoader to send text to an ASP. Everything works just as expected using English and Swedish, but if i try and send some Russian (cyrillic) Flash throws an error 2032 on a script working flawless up to this point. Am i missing the obvious here? the first one to admit never worked with russian thext in this fashion before, does it need special encoding or is there something i need to do to make this work?
I want to make a dynamic textarea with loaded text from an external textfile, and then I want custom made arrow buttons to start scrolling the loaded text on mouseover (not click) andt stop scrolling on mouseout. Ala like in this webpage[url]...
The part with the loaded text is fine, but I can't manage to script the arrow buttons to do what I've just described. Even though I have searched the Internet for recipes I just find how to scroll loaded text on click or with a scrollbar
I have 2 questions about flex datagrids: How can I scroll it automatically to the bottom when new portion of data arrived to it (e.g. I added new items). Strange, but seems it doesn't scroll when I use scrolling wheel, is there any trick about it (especially for mac Users).
public function scroll():void { trace(chatboard.maxVerticalScrollPosition); chatboard.verticalScrollPosition = chatboard.maxVerticalScrollPosition; } <mx:TextArea id="chatboard" x="10" y="10" width="310" height="181" text="{chatMessages}" editable="false" verticalScrollPolicy="on" resize="scroll()"/>
But actually it don't work. The text area is not autoscrolled. Seems that 1) scroll is not called after new string is added to chatMessages.
I have a 30 minute mp3 I need to embed in an .fla so I can export as .mov for conversion to .fla.I tried adding frames, but you can only add so many at a time. At 30 minutes, I had added the max frames (going to the rigth) about 15 times and it wasn't enough.Is there a trick to automatically adding enough frames to cover the entire imported mp3 on the timeline?
I have a VBox containing a bunch of panels. I have implemented dragging and dropping but I need to be able to scroll automatically when the item is drug near the edge. I am having mixed results. I can get it to work, but not well. My example is below. It works if the user bounces their mouse around a little near the top or bottom edge, but I want it to work if they just hold the mouse there.[code]So if they are within 50px of an edge then it should scroll by 50px. I've exaggerated the numbers just to get an affect.
I need to learn how feasible it is to automatically assemble Flash animations which take a background image, an animation (or a set of vector drawings that can be turned into an animation) and a sound file from a set of files. In other words, assume that I have the following set of files:
3 background images (let's assume JPG) 3 animations (no sound, no static background) 100 sound files (let's assume MP3)
So if I want to code something like: for i 1 to 3 for k 1 to 3 take animation i take background image k for j 1 to 100 take sound_file j resulting_swf = assemble (animation[i], background[i], sound_file[j]) save(resulting_swf)
Which will produce 900 Flash animations with different combinations of sound and background, what is the starting point? Are there some libraries (in Python, Perl, PHP, etc.) with good documentation and examples to develop something like that, some program that I can run from the command line?
I am making a website and want to add a background image generator to automatically switch out images regardless if you click a link or not,basically how do i make something like this: Url...I've spent a good 2-3hours doing searches for tuts and ultimately havent found anything
I have a flash web page I am building in flash CS4 set up for AS3 in my design I need a scroll pain with the instances of thumbnails in it that on mouse over or click shows the larger image to the left. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial on how to add my MC to the scroll panel from the library.
