I have a flash movie in an aspx page. I use this to play some mp3 files. Now, the problem is that when the user click on a button I send a variable (the name of the song) to the aspx page which in retun creates a postback. Due to the postback my flash movie is reloaded, go to the starting frame(1) and the mp3 preview frame is not visible. Is there any way that I can stay at the last frame?
View 1 RepliesI made nine frames with different jpeg images (on three Layers, which suit to different day's timespans), then I added actionscript. It gets date from system clock, according to hour - chooses timespan (morning or evening, midday or night) and display one of three frames for this time (randomly). But, when I test the project in preview (ctrl+enter) I have still first frame or empty Stage without any images. It works properly when click on Play in context menu.
View 6 RepliesThe only thing that has me puzzled is the preview field. Basically i have a background which is a movie clip, it basically transforms from the loader to the background (over 70 frames).
is there a way to have the preview field for the root movie display a child movie at a frame other than frame 1? At the moment it looks like this: [URL]

It would help or positioning other items if i had the background displayed how it will actually be?
I'm having some trouble with getURL (I think). It works fine when I preview with Flash's html preview but it's not working on my server. It's pretty simple. [URL].selected1 is a user-defined variable pointing to a page: ie, when the user selects variable page1 the page to be opened is [URL]. Like I said, it works with Flash's preview, but not on my server(no 404 or any response). Does there seem to be a problem with my code or might I be overlooking a server error? Here's my code:

I have a child (an external swf) that I'm adding on frame 2 of my main timeline. It will load, but I have another issue. My timeline navigation is designed as such that the viewer can return to frame 1 after viewing frame 2. I don't want the child to be visible on frame 1 ever. Obviously, I can't simply use removeChild, because I haven't yet added it when frame 1 is reached and so I get a null object reference. I've also tried playing around with the visibility property of the child, but with no luck. I feel like I'm missing an obvious solution here. What should I do?

View 5 RepliesI understand that in order to make it consume less CPU cycles flash player forces the player to only execute at 2fps (or some other ridiculously low amount) when the swf is no longer in focus (or even if it's still "in focus" but not being rendered to the screen by virtue of being in a section of the browser window that's scrolled offscreen.) Is there any possible way to change this? I have a 3D engine that needs to keep the FR up.

Ive made a movie that add strings from several input text fields to an array. This array is sent from the flash video to php. This is working fine when I preview the movie as Flash. The php script prints the variables as intended.
But when I preview it as html the arrays are all empty...

My question is: Set parentSprite.visible = false will make all children in parentSprite all invisible, right? And is there any way to just make parentSprite itself invisible without effecting it's children?

As the object is rectangular, I figured putting a white button the same size on a white background on a layer underneath the object would do this, but I can't seem to make it happen.I'm a complete novice, frustrated as I've been trying to achieve this all day and I'm sure it should be pretty simple, but could you give me the idiots guide. I know how to name an instance, make an object, script in actions on a separate layer. I would like to draw the button myself and give it an instance rather than drag it off the button component (as I can't work out how to make the component button white, change its size etc.!)

View 3 RepliesOkay, this should be relatively easy but I'm running into errors. My main character is visible in the beginning of the game (where the main menu is) and because I coded it so that all of the enemies don't spawn unless the main character is visible, the enemies spawn too. As a result, if you stay at the main menu for long enough, the score continues to go up, the health goes down when enemies attack, etc.

I'm trying to preview a PDF file into a Flex (AIR) application : I am using the mx.controls.HTML component and it works perfectly when I build my project into flex builder.But when exporting to a validated version : I can preview a web page but not a PDF file.
View 1 RepliesMy searches have led me into some overcomplicated solutions. I'm using Flash to create a simple .swf that contains a movie with subtitles. I'm sure there are better ways but this is the easiest and I have been too long gone from developing in Flash and uBer rusty.
I used the movie importer, added captions exported my movie. All works great. The movie is set to NOT auto-play though and fades in from black so when the user first sees it they just see the skin and a black box. What I would like to do is have a preview image appear instead of the black first frame until the user plays the movie.
I've been coming across this weird issue while creating a website menu: Sometimes, when I preview/export my SWF, some of my objects (text, graphics) will shift a few pixels on mouse over/mouse out - but when I look through all my frames in the timeline (and watch closely), there is no such shift. Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes it will only do it when looking at the SWF locally, with flash player, but when viewing in a browser, it goes away. Of course, this is only sometimes - it has showed up in the browser as well. I've tried saving first, restarting flash, force refreshing the browser, etc, etc...it seems quite erratic.

I am having a problem with a couple of swf's loading within a main swf when published to the Internet. Local viewing (ctrl-enter) looks fine as well as "publish preview->html".But, after loading it to the domain it breaks somehow. The swfs do not load. I've verified all the swfs are correct and present. No errors are thrown. Here is my code if itto determine what I'm doing wrong.
