ActionScript 2.0 :: Open A File After It Is Downloaded With Flash Player 8?
Aug 31, 2009
I have a problem to open a file after it is downloaded with flash player 8 by using the FileReference.download method. after the file is downloaded from the server on my computer this can't be opened. So,
Adobe Reader shows the following error:
Abobe Reader couldn't open "Unidad1.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or 'coz the file's been damaged(for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decode).
I try to open pdfs or folders (in finder/explorer) triggered by a mouse click in an swf application running in flash player. opening a pdf via urlRequest and navigateToUrl() always opens the browser.
I read about this solution with fscommand: http://www.artfans.info/open-pdf-file-from-flash-using-fscommand/ seems then we had to write shell scripts for mac and pc...? doesnīt sound perfect. the swf is executed on cd rom. so i think we canīt use an air application and the classes of the air framework (File
I want to use flash to present something in class, so I made this fullscreen flash animation. Now I need to click on a button and have the flash player open a different swf. file.
I would like to open a separate swf file from with in flash, but by default, it opens the swf in a browser. I would like this file to open in a stand alone player not in the browser. How can I achive this? Right now I'm using the getURL() action. Is there a separate function for opening a file at a specified filepath?
I am trying to stream audio to my flash application. I got it working with a test MP3 file. But the problem is that MP3 encoders are protected by patents and require license fees.(I am living in Canada) Isn't there a open audio file format supported by flash?
I have downloaded alivepdf open source library. Now I want to import the classes given in the library...for that how to install that lib...or where to put the folder...or what should I do to stop the compiler from giving me the error for lineimport org.alivepdf.
I was wondering if there is a script so that when a flash file is no longer on a specific server it stops working. So basically if it is on a specific website it will work but once its downloaded, or even uploaded to another site it doesn't work any more?
I have a page that has a table with each row corresponding to an audio file. The last cell in each row embeds a simple flash audio player. The problem is that the flash file for the player is being downloaded for each row separately and as soon as rows go beyond 40-50 it crashes the browser.
I tried using different players (1pixelout, flash-mp3-player) and the problem is still there, so its not a player specific issue.
Is there any way to cache the player so that it is only downloaded once?
I am using progressive download to play video files in a video player. When I seek to a point that has not downloaded yet the video player freezes. The player enters the seeking state and stops playing.Clicking the play and pause buttons has no effect. The video player comes out of the seeking state and resumes playing only when the video file has completely downloaded. How do I implement the functionality where the player when seeked to a point that has not downloaded simply seeks back to the amount that has downloaded.
[I posted a similar question on serverfault.com, but had very little feedback so trying here]
I can do this just fine under Apache with htaccess
But at work its all M$ all the time...
I need to lock off access to any .fla files that might come up on a virtual host. We keep them next to the few .swf we use on some of our sites, I just want to be sure they are not being downloaded by people or spiders that may scrape the site.
There isn't really anything sensitive in the fla's but I'd rather keep them in the same folder and have them forbidden to downloaders.
I've tried the MIME type route (check if MIME type is defined under HTTP Headers > MIME Types, remove if it was, etc;), but there is no FLA defined, but I can still download the file by default. I recall this was the opposite if you WANTED to serve .flv files, but not .fla's[code]...
I need to open a PDF in flash player 10. The swf will not be running in a browser and there will not be an adobe reader program on the system. I need to know if its possible to open a PDF without converting it in any way, in the flash player. I've searched google for countless hours and nothing has come up, only conversion software and code to open it in a browser.
I want to open a pdf/excel/doc using flex, as all know we can use navigateToUrl(URL) method to open a file from the server. But my problem is those files are encrypted in the server, so I load the files as follows
ByteLoader = new URLLoader(); ByteLoader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.BINARY; ByteLoader.load(new URLRequest (constructedURL));
so that I can manipulate them and can get the decrypted file. Now my question is, my data already got downloaded from the server, so how will I launch the files(pdf/doc/excel) with the binary content which I had got?
Is there anyway i can launch those files like we do it in navigateToURL()?
I have a video (AS2 swf) that navigates to a preset web page after it reaches "stop", but I can't figure out how to play the swf file from another web page. Help needed with HTML (or other usueable script) for the following task:
1. Click on a graphic image on web page which will then
2. Play the swf file located on a different web site with Flash Player
My CS5 flash crashed when I changed the name of the root folder while it was open. Swf is working fine, but .fla file wont open, I get a "Failed to open document" message. This is a disaser because I've lost two days of work. Is there anything that could be done to fix this problem?
I am working on a project that is not going on the web, but CDs. I'm trying to have a swf load in a new flash player window when a button is clicked. I've searched the web, but seem to only find how to open a new browser window.
I'm using the code below to allow a user to download a file. The problem I am having is that, if the file is located at/images/english/and I say I want to download it to myDocuments instead of having an images saved in MyDocuments /MyDocuments/1.gif.it creates the same folder structure as the file that was downloaded and saves it here:/MyDocuments/images/english/1.jpg.This isn't the whole code, but I think I included all the stuff relating to downloading files
I am trying to download a heavy swf dynamically to my site using URLLoader class. I'd like to know if it is possible to use a symbol inside the swf as a separate object?[code]Embedding the swf increases the initial load time of my site and I want to make it dynamic. How can I access the Kungfu symbol from Fight.swf after it is downloaded using the URLLoader class?
Is there a reg key or custom GPO out there that will let me default Flash Player to open in Low Quality mode? Whenever a flash site opens, it opens in High Quality.Using Win 2003 SP1, with IE6 with Flash Player 9.0.
I need to find a flash video player that is free and open source. I love flowplayer and jwplayer but we fit into their most expensive licenses. It will cost us over $1400 to license flowplayer for our use. We don't have that right now.
I just need a flash player with a basic javascript api that is truly free. I have been googling for hours and nothing so far.
It would be a huge plus if someone knows of a chromeless youtube player that uses the youtube as3 api. I don't have time right now to code an entire chromeless player complete with all the controls and a progress bar.
I am using OSMF-Strobe Player for videos and I am trying to put my company's name below the video player as in the picture. how do I go about doing the same ? I dont have much knowledge about actionscript but with some online tutorials I can always manage.
I'm completely new to Flash and actionscript, so please bare with me. But I'm in a bind, so I thought I'd give this a shot.I'm needing to play a commercial before playing an actual video on my company's website. Once the commercials ends, I'd like for the video to start automatically. Is there an open souce (free) flash player that will let me do this?I've watched a tutorial on how to do so, but when I try to make it work with a player, it never works.
I am testing a FLASH animation ad that has links to a website. When I click on the links, it opens firefox but it doesn't go to the link!I have added the links and the file names in the Adobe Flash Settings Manager, restarted several times, restarted in Safe Mode and it still does not work!I cannot find any information on this. My coworker also tried it and it does not work for him on IE on Windows.HOWEVER, If I have SAFARI open it works fine, and If I drag and drop the .swf file into either browser and then click on the links it goes to the web page.
