View 3 RepliesI am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

I was browsing through the AS3 help in CS3 and came across good ole Delta. I've been playing around with it and it zooms things just fine but I had an idea for a birthday card for my niece and now would like a way to have the mouse wheel do something perhaps outside of what Delta will permit. I want to move a nested movie clip to next and previous frames with the mouse wheel and until using it with delta for zooming only used it for scrolling. I got it to work but not how I'd like. Using this code I got it to go to next frame which is 1/3rd the battle:

I want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...

I simply want to have a movie (box1) to play when a button (btn1) is clicked.
NOTE: The button is within a movie clip (bulb1) which is within another movie clip (trees).
I tried this, but it just kept replaying the whole animation:

View 2 RepliesOn Scene1 I'm trying to add some script that will continuosly recognize what the x axis value is and if it is greater than 600 it is supposed to play frame 1 of the movie, and if it is less than 600 than it is supposed to play frame 10. The code I'm using seems to work, but only at the initial startup of the movie. How do I modify this code to have it continually updating the shoot movie based on where the mouse is at on the movie?

I have two main clips with clickable clicks within each. I am using swapDepths on the two main clips in a tab navagation fashion. The problem is that if I click on the space between the nested clips in the top clip it actually is hitting the buttons(movieclips) on the other clip under it. Any suggestions?

I am going to be working on a site that has various mechanical products for sale. The customer wants me to make a model and movie of each product to show how the product works. Here is an example product:
Flash Clip The problem I am having is, he wants the movie to only play when a user puts their mouse over the video. I attempted doing this with a mp4 file and it worked using jQuery, but only when in Chrome. Here is that link:
MP4 Clip I want these demos to be viewable by the largest possible audience, so I was trying to stay away from Flash (also because I don't know Flash very well if at all). Does anyone know of a way to get this video to work in other browsers like in the second example? If not, how can I achieve that same idea using Flash?
[URL] i assume it's a series of frames with slightly different photos of the razor. when you play the movie it looks like it is spinning. my question is, how do they get the movie clip it to play forward when you move the mouse in one direction, and backward in the other? is it something like mouse over to the right and left (i'm bad with the direction code)??
right now i have a version that will play the movie clip (it's a button w/ only a hotspot) on mouse over and it will stop when the mouse os off the hotspot, but i can't get it to work like the headblade example. because i don't know the right code to play forward and back etc on mouse moves.
I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.

View 5 RepliesIt's me again and I'm running into a problem. So, I have this movie clip that is nested inside multiple movie clips. I want to tell Flash to perform an action when that movie clip hits another movie clip in the main timeline. It's just collision detection for a game using the hitTestObject code. I was thinking of using MovieClip(root), but that won't work since it's nested so much.

the problem is that when i click on the first button loads ok but when click on second still showing the first movie clip in the back ,,,,, i have try everything without luck ,,,, i guess i need to keep reading but will like to find an answer to this situation ,
I would like to know how to make it so when you click a button, it goes to a different frame within a MOVIE CLIP. Kind of like gotoAndPlay but not a frame in the timeline. I would like it to move to a different frame in a movie clip.

View 3 RepliesI have a movie clip (that includes a preloader and video elerments) that I created and made a .swf file from which I then imported in my main movie. I then place this .swf file (which is listed as a movie clip symbol in the library) onto the main timeline. I put an action to stop the main timeline at the frame where the nested movie is placed and expected to start. When previewing the movie, the nested movie doesn't play. I see the preloader (in scene 1 of the nested movie) appears for a second but the movie doesn't play.
Any specific action command needs to be define to make the nested movie play?
i am new to flash, i have cs4.i created a 3 second flash animation of a logo.i would like to export that into other flash projects, so that those projects will play the logo first.so what is the best and most efficient way to do that?i have tried to export the logo.fla file as a movie clip or swf file but importing it into a new flash project is a bit weird, like it doesn't come in as a single symbol, but as all of the components that make up the original animation.i have watched many tutorials on nested timelines, but i can not find one on creating a mulitlayered movie clip in a separate fla file and then importing that as a single symbol into a new project fla.

So I tried instead of BubbleRed, assigning the movie clips inside the container instance names, Red, Green, Purple, Gold.
This didn't result in a crash, however the time line of each instance still wouldn't play!
