Anyone know how to create a flash based text and audio chat application?
View 1 RepliesI've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
Just trying to make a flash photo gallery that displays all the image files in a certain directory with the usual photo gallery functionality.
View 1 RepliesJust wondering if anyone knows about the project I am trying to start, uploading images from flash using php is fine but wondering if anyone knows how to create dynamic xml from php and it takes all the image names from the same folder where those images have been uploaded. So we can load all the images in image gallery through xml into flash.
View 5 RepliesCan anyone recommend a decent tutorial, add-on or approach to creating a page rip off effect in flash?
I want to create a notepad where each page can be ripped off to reveal further content.
Would anyone have any tutorials on how to create a multi stage zooming menu like in the following demo links?
[URL]
Is this done with actionscript or manually tweening several clips? I can't quite seem to get my head around zooming in and out of several layers. I am currently looking into the Laco tween class as a possible solution, but I was hoping that someone might already understand how to achieve this effect.
i was looking for gallery looking like this site [URL] i was looking gallery first page title gallery then Big image like this with description.
View 1 Repliesi am trying to add extra images to the photo gallery attached. I would have thought it is easy and it seems so. I add an extra image to the gallery. I publish it. The html file shows the extra image in the gallery but the swf doesnt. driving me crazy, cant work it out?

View 1 RepliesI made a scrolling image gallery following the XML photo gallery tutorial found on this site and it works fine on its own. But when i load the .swf file into another flash file using a holder, it loads but it doesn't scroll anymore; its just a static image. I tried turning it into a MC and placing the MC into my flash but have the exact same problem.
View 2 RepliesI used the Photo Gallery using xml and Flash tutorial and created a nice gallery with thumbnails I increased the size to accommodate a 800x533px size picture however when the images are imported they are distorted to a size that looks to be around 900x400px I am using flash 8.
View 1 RepliesI have a simple Flash gallery which reads from a xml file. Everything worked well but suddenly one of the images (image10.png) doesn't show up, all I get is an 'X'. All the images are in the correct folders as I haven't moved them. It's the second item that doesn't work (in bold).
Code:
<?xml verticalsion="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<gallery
width="800"[code]..........
I've finally finished my flash xml gallery, and have tested it to my complete satisfaction using dreamweaver. When I do a preview from dreamweaver, or just open up the gallery html file from explorer the swf loads the xml file and all the images flawlessly, everything works. However when I move the site for testing on my mac laptop it loads the xml file but not the images. When I upload it to my test website it doesn't even load the xml file. I just copied the root folder over in all cases I dont understand why it wont work. You can see it here: [URL]
Could this be some export setting I am using incorrectly? Why would it work locally on a windows machine, and not locally on a mac or online on either. I tried re exporting the swf after saving it as CS3 from CS4 and changing the local playback security to only allow network. So now it loads the xml data online but not locally. Thumbnails still aren't showing up online though.
I am attempting to create a basic Flash website to promote myself online. To do this I require a scrolling gallery of images on one of my pages.I have found and implemented a tutorial online allowing me to have a scrolling gallery, but what I need to do is include it within the rest of the pages I have created. I don't know how the code I have used for the scrolling gallery works, to allow me to use it, inside the root level page.The script says:
_root.onEnterFrame = function()
{ if (_root._yMouse<594)
{[code]....
What I need to do, is put the scrolling gallery feature 1 level INSIDE the site, instead of on its "root". When saving the scrolling gallery feature as a movie clip, I coped the frame it was on and pasted that on the "images" page, within the navigation bar movie clip where the other page contents reside. ie Contact, Animations, Intro, etc.When doing this, the gallery is present on the page once the "images" tab is clicked on the navigation, but only the scrolling thumbnails are present on screen, and not the blown-up main image each of the thumbnails refers to, so when clicked on, no main image appears.But when placed on the "root" or outer-most layer of the site, the gallery works fine.I really need to know how to include this scrolling gallery feature WITHIN the navigation bar with the other pages, how can I do this? What actionscript could I use as a replacement to the "_root", to make the gallery function correctly?
I'm looking for a non-commercial solution / tutorial (AS3, MySQL, PHP, XML) that would point me in the right directon to control the quality of uploaded images.
View 1 RepliesIm just about to make a site in Flash which will have an image gallery. This will need to include a CMS for the images. Anyone know the best approach in order to make the images as easy as possible to update?

View 0 RepliesI learned from great kirupa tutorial and implemented the thumbnail gallery in my site.If I open the site in browser Opera or Firefox (FP 8.0.0.447) i see only 1 thumbnail image - is it bug in Player? In IE 6 I have FP 7.0.19.0 and I can see all thumbnails in the navigation bar - also correct.
View 8 RepliesFlash Gallery that resizes the image before it gets loaded?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to preload images for an image gallery ina flash movie.
i have the images externally loaded so as not to bloat the swf but how do i start a preload for all the images when someone gets to the home/front page, so that by the time they get to the image gallery everything is loaded in memory so there's no delay?
I'm using Flash CS3 and would like to create an image gallery that randomly loads images listed in an XML file without repeating any of the images until all have been displayed once.I've managed to combine a couple of tutorials to create an image gallery that randomly loads images from an XML file, but images often repeat before all images have been displayed once (there are over 2 dozen images). Here's the code:
Code:
delay = 3000;
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {[code]....
I'm new to flex/flash cs5, but am an experienced coder, and am trying to help a friend get a site built quickly so they can graduate. They would like their image gallery that displays their portfolio to have:thumbnails floating around slowly and bouncing off of one another - mouse hover would freeze and then resume animation after the mouse leaves - when clicked the thumbnail would grow to the full size image and be displayed in the same window as the floating objects Something similar to whats found at: Flash and Picasa gallery with those other features would be perfect, but without the Google RSS aspect of it. Might anyone know where I could be pointed in the right direction for accomplishing this? Or possibly could be given technical names for the effects I'm trying to implement so I can look them up easier? Perhaps even a link to download something with the floating/bouncing element for the thumbnails, then I could figure out the code for the other effects needed.
View 1 RepliesFor a CDROM i'm working on, i'm looking for a method to display images with a lightbox effect. What is the best way to do it with AS3? Is there an AS3 lightbox script available?
View 1 RepliesI'm doing photo gallery and like to enlarge an image when I click on it with some animation like it's in flash (the picture slowly expands first by x-axis and after by y-axis and the space around the picture dims), that it scales to it's largest possible size to fit in screen, but it can be any other animation. I found some topics about this, but I don't want to use any 3rd-party plugin (including flash, drupal...) to do it. Maybe it can be somehow done by jQuery...
View 1 RepliesI'm all done working on my gallery for my website.I have one last question: Now that I have a working thumb gallery, when I look at my scene there is no main image that pops up until you click on one of the thumbs.Is there a simple action script I can add so that when the person opens or load the page the very first image of my thumbs can pop up automatically?
View 1 RepliesI have just done using the tutorial (url.....) for creating a XML Grid Image Gallery in Flash for my portfolio.Since I created my website entirely with flash cs5, I have put the script in a new action layer on top of one of the pages.It worked fine when I just tested that page, but when I clicked into other pages, the gallery wouldn't go away, I tried to put "stop();" in front of my script but still didn't work, everything overlapped with each other.The following is my script
PHP Code:
stop();
import fl.controls.ProgressBar;
import fl.transitions.Tween;[code].....
I built my gallery and import it a parent page (foo)... Sometimes the scroll of thumbnail scroll works... it is choppy.... Sometimes does not work at all.... When I view the movie outside of foo - it works beautifully...
