I am in cs3, publishing as version 7, using actionscript 2. It is asking to be linked to my classes because of the error messages I am receiving.
what to link to in classes. Is it the file, the folder or folders with sub folders?
I've worked wioth sub classes so I know how they work but I always work with everything all in one folder which can get messsy when there are a lot of classes to work through. So i started to make folders inside of my main folder but it's not working. Thought it may be to do with package names but as far as i know, for the whole "classes in separate folders" things that's how they are supposed to be.

I am trying to make classes talk to each other and am using folders in an attempt to make things a bit easier for me to track.I have a document class in the base folder known as Main and right now one other class located in com/Game/ known as NewGame.as
Now the issues I am having is basically the Main.as sets up the stage. Puts on the starting buttons, interface, etc. The NewGame.as is called from the Main when the NEWGAME button is clicked. I have gotten that working properly, a few hang ups on error 1061.

I'm trying to re-organize my classes into folders, currently they're all just in the same directory and it's very messy, so I've tested this out in one feature, being the bullets. So bullet.as is in the directory: [main source]/Classes/Turrets/Ammo
I so in the bullet.as file I have coded as follows:

Now this works, the bullet is fired on to the stage, however it behaves profoundly. For some reason it does not move at all or behave how it does when it is fired from the turret object, the bullets behave perfectly though when I just simply put them in the same directory as the source .fla. What can I do to easily re-organize my classes into folders without turning my objects into malfunctioning pieces of junk?
I have decompiled a swf file and got a fla file and also all kind of folders including action scripts.How do I run this? I mean if I make some changes how do I convert it back to a swf file?I created a swf file from one fla file but I got a file that was like 20x less in size then the original. I think it was not using the files in the folders.

Using Flash's publish settings, I can designate the .fla, .SWF, and document class to be in separate directories. That's great, but I'd like further organize my .as files into sub-directories within the folder for source code.

I am trying to create an AIR Installer file through CS3 that has my assets folder included. What I need to happen is, when the AIR Installer runs, it needs to create an assets folder along with everything else, in that folder it needs to have subfolders with a few files in them. At the moment, I can only add single files, not handy when I have images, music and xml I want neatly organised. I want to select whole folders to add, idealy just my assets, at the moment I can only add one at a time.

I am able to list all the folders and files in the selected folder. I am unable to find a way to generate the same structure, I am unable to think of a way to replicate the depth of folder in XML. Any ideas to find solutions??

We use FMS 3.5 for streaming IPTV. We have a number of channels and currently our mp4 files are all held in the Media subdirectory, below vod
We want to divide them into separate channels for the the stations with their own subdirectories for organised filing but cannot see any way of doing this and then referencing the correct directory with the rtmp: via XML.
I was working on a large web site in Flash CS 5.5 on my hard drive Mac Pro V10.6.8, 6GB of memory. 176.78 GB of space left on the drive. I had set up the project in the Flash projects panel. I was opening files with"File open" and working on them. I have my fla files in a src folder and my classes in a com folder. This was the setup of my com folder.
I was working in Flash and it crashed, when it started up again. It didn't offer me a temp file and all the files in the com folder have been deleted except for the greensock folder. But even the greensock folder was missing files.
I went to the recent files when I click a file name I got this error. I have searched my hard drive by name for the files and can't find them. They are not in the Trash. I have talked to three different Adobe tech support people in India they all tell me the files can't be recovered and they don't know why it has happened and don't even seem to care that their program has deleted hours of work. I am waiting on yet another tech support person to call me back. Does anyone know why this has happened? I have been working in Flash for 11 years and never had it delete 186 files when it has crashed.

1) I am working on a custom FLV player for a website. The users will upload various FLV files onto folders on the server and I would like the users to have the ability to browse those folders and select a video to play.
2) Also, as I will be having the users upload their videos via fileReference in Flash, as soon as their upload of a particular video is complete, I would like the video they just uploaded to begin playing or be loaded and ready to be played. Is there a good way to pass the video name directly into the FLV player on the completion of the download so it can begin playing or at least be ready to play?
I have a VideoDisplay that is able to connect to a source and play. After the connection times out I want the connection to be re-established when my play button is clicked. Right now when I reset the source and play the videoDisplay, it gets stuck in the loading state.

1st) open one connection and keep it alive until the site unloads?
2nd) open a connection, use it, and close it when done; then, open again when I need?
Considering a scenario where some users will make a constant use of the Socket, but others will almost not use it, what would be the better approach? Does an alive Socket connection use too much bandwidth? Does the action of connecting consumes more than keeping it alive?

I tried moving the file back into it's original folder but that did not change things. Is there anything I can do or should I start to accept that it's gone?
I would like Flash to reconnect to a socket if its connection is dropped. I am using the Socket class to establish a connection and then adding an Event.CLOSE listener to the socket. What is a good strategy to reconnect back to the socket if the connection has suddenly closed? Here is a the method I am calling inside the close handler. The connect() method establishes a new socket connection

Very basic question here: Are there any disadvantages to using the ".*" qualifier when stating our imports into ActionScript files.
In other words, is this only a compile-time directive or does this actually affect the footprint and performance of our final builds?
Let's say you have a ton of code in your timeline but none of it is classes. Is it possible to put these into several external .as files? If so, how do you include them?
View 6 RepliesWhen streaming a live event through FMS 3.5, is there a list of guidelines or best practices to handle the situation when the stream disconnects and should reconnect.Basically, what I do now is wait 20 seconds after the initial disconnect, then close the stream and ask the user to ty to reconnect to the stream again.

How can I import all files and classes into my AIR bundle... it must take a note that I created first a flex project, and set it's main class as Actionscript (.as) . When I build a release all my imports (org) etc.. are not included in the .AIR installer... i have checked this by installing the app and then after show package contents, notice that the diretory structure exists but it doesn't include any of other .as used as imports...

I've checked Curtis Morley, but I don't think the problem is the instance names. Since I'm adding the the movieclips with the codes. Both movies' errors occur where it contains "e.bytesLoaded / e.bytesTotal;" Does any know what's happening?[code]
View 14 RepliesI'm attempting to use the movieClipLoader to load a file onto an instance of a class derived from movieclip. For some reason, this doesn't seem to work, because after it successfully loads, the array that contains these derived class instances suddenly become movie clips and lose all their derived variables (tracing them resutls in 'undefined').So I thought there must be another way. Perhaps there is a way to copy the image data from one movie clip to another, or someone suggested taking a snap shot of the first movie clip and then applying it to the second as a bitmap.

Until know we have only used it for live streaming.I have let myself guide through the beginners pages and they're helpful, testing everything locally (applications/babyvultures/streams/_definst_/vultures.mp4).The problem is when I copy my project to the server; same structure, but no video. If I move the file to the applications/vod/media, and change the path in the script
So the big question is: am I able to have sub folders within the applications/vod ?
The thing is, that I want to publish videos from different sites that is also located on the server, and what I thought I could do, was to make sub folders, one for each site and then people can access their streaming folder via FTP, being able to publish their own videos with the advantage of rtmp streaming.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why my really simple web page is appearing as 2 folders please? These are the index.html and .swf files.
This has occurred before but I cant for the life of me remember the cause or solution.
The files are in the public folder on the server.
