i am new to FMS4 and i am having a problem playing some files with different folders.
i have different folders in C:media3feeds
in that directory i have folder "1", "2" and "3"
other words C:media3feeds1
C:media3feeds2
C:media3feeds3

We use FMS 3.5 for streaming IPTV. We have a number of channels and currently our mp4 files are all held in the Media subdirectory, below vod
We want to divide them into separate channels for the the stations with their own subdirectories for organised filing but cannot see any way of doing this and then referencing the correct directory with the rtmp: via XML.
We are streaming a one hour F4V from streaming media server 3.5.2 and for some reason it is seeing our one hour video as being 10 hours long. We have tons of other videos and never ran into this problem in any of the other files. This is the only file that exceeds one hour. This occurs in the default player from the streaming server.
View 1 RepliesI have a problem on streaming my files with the FMS 4. There are several testfiles on my VOD-directory, most of them with a length about 2 minutes. Altough there are some with 12 minutes. So if i want to play all those files with the StrobeMediaPlayer, only the files with a 12 minutes length are working, on the others the player ist sayin "We are unable to connect to the content you´ve requested. We apologize for the inconveniece.".ind any option or notice where it says there is a minimum lenght to stream... so whats going wrong here?Additional Infos:FLV, MP4H.264 + AAC
View 1 RepliesI have a video player with a playlist written with AS3, along with an .XML settings file to edit the playlist. I can successfully play rtmp:/ streams from my FMS server on the video player. I would like to use dynamic streaming using the dynamicStream.smil file with my existing video player/playlist. Lastly, I have been unsuccessful taking the snippet code from the FMS, Dynamic Streaming sample page, and using it within an HTML document. I assumed all I would need to change were the paths to where the rtmp:// video file, .smil, and the video player files were located on the FMS.

I have a problem streaming on-demand f4v-files longer than 1 hour! The video starts normaly playing the stream and the player shows the correct overall duration. But if you start skipping/seeking the overall duration change to 13 h 20m and 28s (instead of 1 hour) and the stream breaks down. All f4v files with less than one hour duration works fine with playing and skipping!
I encode the f4v files with Adobe Media Encoder. I have also checked the f4v file with FLVcheck (passed). So, does anybody have an idea in fixing this problem and which format is the best for FMS streaming (MP4, FLV, F4V?)?

I have a video player working just fine with one video, steaming and using dynamic stream switching on a flash media server.Now I want to have more videos.I want to start using SMIL files for the dynamic switching list for each video.If you do not know what a SMIL file is you probably can not help.
Anyway how do I point to a SMIl file instead of just listing the streams.here is how I do my list at the moment

As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?

What do I need to do to make RTMP videos work from SAN directory on Flash Streaming Server. It works fine for http. RTMP from vod -> application folder works fine. I have done a lot of research and found out that we can use virtual directories for streaming videos. I am unable to find steps on how to use it..

View 13 RepliesI can stream files in the root of a NAS drive (/nas_dir), but not in any of the sub folders (/nas_dir/sub/). FMS has read/write permission to all the files on the NAS but all i get is "stream not found" when I access anything in the sub folders (streams play fine from the root of the NAS) FMS is running on rh5.4
View 1 RepliesI have an application running in FMIS 3.5. Everything is working. Now I want to create two application instances, one for a live stream and one for a development stream. That way I can test my application against the development stream without interfering with the application that manages the live stream.So first I created folders under my application. Say the application's name is test. I created two folders, dev and live. Then I changed my Flex 3 applications so that they would write to rtmp://mydomain.com/test/live/stream. But the application still records the live stream in test, not test/live.[code]
I restarted my vhost. My application still records my live stream into the test folder instead of test/live.So I removed those entries and restarted my vhost.Then I added a folder called streams below my test folder. And I added dev and live subfolders below streams. I saw this on another post somewhere. But this didn't work either.I have not been able to find the configuration element(s) that enable multiple instances in one application.Am I missing a configuration parameter somewhere or is this a bug in 3.5?
We (the university I work for) want to add an IP camera to the top of a building (so it has to be IP, we can't put a machine up there, so USB is out of the question) to stream a live view of the quad. The problem is, I can't find a way to stream any IP Cameras through the flash live encoder. I tried a camera by Axis, but their capture driver only supported MJPEG which the live encoder does not.
View 3 RepliesI'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.
We have added a few sub folders under the webroot folder. I did this so I could make a custom web page that generates the code need to display the video in a web page if it is one of the folders. My question is how do I get these folders and their content to show up in the Administrative Console? Also how do I get the videos to be logged? I have looked through the Server.xml and Application.xml files and the fms.ini but do not see any place, Am I not looking for the correct setting? Attached is a pic of the folders.

I have a web page for test purpose with the video src tags to: URL... and in the server I have a livestream.m3u8 pointing to the same URL..., Now the Encoder have the AAC plugin and all the presets like it shut but when I go to see it in my IPad 2 this is how it looks.

I'm building a video conferencing applicaition for a portal. But now when considering which version of flash media server to buy, I run into some problem. So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.

View 12 RepliesI have a windows server box 2008 R2 with Adobe Flash Media Server installed on it version 4.5. I have installed Flash Media Server and input the serial and all that fun stuff. All ports have been forwarded properly, Once the server is up and running I go to the admin console just to make sure all is running well. Once up and running I turn to my Media Encoder and enter my FMS URL as well as the stream, (livestream?adbe-live-event=liveevent). I select my input device and it connects and says streaming to primary. Now Yesterday I did this and it was streaming correctly i check with my ipad and the livepkgr was working, I have live video on my ipad. I then went to my website to check and make sure all was working on there and sure enough my live event was being streamed to there was well! Sweet right? No wrong....The server was shut down after this test trial assuming everything was working.
When I turned it on today the flash media encoder still connected and streamed right and when i check the ADMIN console it appears to be working and connected the right way, but my problem is when i go to my website i just get a black screen with nothing playing on it, and on my ipad for some reason I get the last 30 seconds of a piece of the live clip we where streaming last night and then it stops.......I have nooooo clue what is wrong and it is driving me up the wall. My hope is to be able to stream from my mac to my Media Server and then be able to embed it into my website as well as have it playable on ipad/Android (havent worked on android part yet because of this whole problem).
I am developing Video Chat over Ip (including audio and text too). But I am unable to get the proper startup material for my desktop application.
