View 2 RepliesI have an AS3 based FLA that, for various reasons, needs nearly all of the linkages in the library reworked (need to move to a different package namespace).This particular FLA is pretty big, so doing this by hand would be rather tedious.I have considered saving out the FLA as an XFL, and just hand editing all of the XML files in the LIBRARY folder, and then saving out as FLA. Has anyone tried this? I have never worked with XFL files before, so I don't know what quirks I may run across.My problem has to do with loading SWFs and class conflicts because of multiple SWFs using the same package namespace. Without getting into too many details, I know about ApplicationDomain and LoaderContext. I am currently loading into a new ApplicationDomain, but that isn't an ideal situation and is causing grief that won't be maintainable in the long run.
View 1 RepliesSo I have an AS3 flash project with A LOT of assets, roughly 1000 at the time being but that may expand to several thousand later. They are all images but half of them are Animated GIFs so I can't import them at runtime. I considered simply dragging them into the flash project but I don't seem to have any control over the naming scheme. Basically, what I want to know is:
Is there a way to automate importing and renaming of flash assets, like "Import these 1000 files and export them for Actionscript with this name"? Additionally, is there a better way for me to be doing this? I've tried [URL].. AS3GIF but it struggles with larger animated gifs like the ones I'm working with (650x450).
I am trying to build an uploader that will take data collected earlier in the form before the upload occurs and then rename the uploaded file with it. I've gotten the upload itself to work, but thus far I have no luck getting any sort of renaming to work, not even by PHP.I tried Loadvars to transfer the variables over and rename it during upload, yet it says "NO" and rejects the post variables when the upload occurs. I even tried loading the variables into an external file and transfering them back to the uploader via cookie, all at the same time. Again it says "NO!", and the file is uploaded as __"filename".jpg. This is my code thus far:
Code:
stop();
////// Other Variables ///////////

Is it possible to rename a class-instance that has already been created with a specific name?For instance:
// Step 1) Create and name class-instance
var myClassInstance_1:myClass= new myClass();
// Step 2) Change name of myClassInstance_1
[code].....
I have a PHP script that dynamically passes some variables to my .swf. The variables come into the .swif named like: imageCount1, ImageCount2, imageCount3 etc. I am trying to put these into an array to work with. Heres what I have so far
[code]...
The problem I'm having is when I goto .push the array it combines the strings instead of calling the imageCount variable with the correct number attached. Can anyone think of a technique to work around this or some where I can look to get an id.
I have an application already created that will upload files successfully, with a progress bar and completion notices and am very happy with the process, but sometimes people upload a file with the same name as an existing file. Is there a way to change the name of the destination file on my server to something more standard during the upload process? I have been using a fileReference.Browse() with capturing all my event handlers through there.
View 4 RepliesI'm in the process of making a web page that'll successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional ([URL]), but as soon as I place in the fixit.js script under the flash object and view the page in IE, all the flash elements turn white. Quote:

Anyone knows how to place in flash files in xhtml files on IE without manually controls by clicking on the flash file.
I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

1) i have palced 2 flash file on my web page.if i stop the sound on this file then the sound on another flash movie placed on my web page also stops.i want both the files to be independent to each other and controlled separately
2)if i click on play it shows loading.even after it loads the file it doesnt change itz status. if i click again on play then itz status changes to play.my codes for flash.....

I am constructing a Flash animation and I was hoping to build it by scenes. These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. There would be no interaction beyond Play/and replay. Where can I get information on how to construct this and is this a recomended way to do it?
View 7 RepliesI've tried exporting a MOV file using Flash 8. I've tried converting to a MOV using ffmpegx. Neither have worked.
View 1 RepliesCan anyone improve on this? Requires Sysinternals Strings

Basically it mounts a share as a network drive then runs through the share looking for swf files inside office documents.
Is there a way to add .as files to a subversion repository but to get it to skip over my .fla files?
View 4 RepliesAs titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?
View 1 RepliesI have some files in my src directory, some are .class files (Java class files) and some are .properties files, when I create the Adobe air native installer these files are not included. Why is that? How can I work around that?
Also it excludes .mxml files, but that's good. I'm sure that's related, how to change what it includes or excludes?
I have created a flash file that allows you to click on a thumbnail image and larger image appears ontop of a tshirt. The same way as a gallery would work. The images and thumbnails are pulled in through xml. However I have a problem, I need the images that appear on the tshirts to be .png files or gif files as the tshirt colour can be changed. At the moment my flash file will only display jpegs! I dont knwo why. The jpegs leave me with a white background, so I need the transparency of a png/gif. My actionscript is:

My users upload a certain kind of text file that sometimeshas references to images stored locally on their hard drive. I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. Myusers wouldn't know where to look and there are typically way toomany files, sometimes with the same name but in differentdirectories.
I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. The problem here isI can't communicate with both the server and the local filesystemin the same flash application due to Flash's security sandboxrestrictions. So I can get out of those security restrictions byplacing or editing a trust file in designated locations on variousOSes. I then need to install this trust file which is more invasiveand confusing to users then I want to be...Java's method of accessing local files from a web applet bysimply signing the applet with a certificate and having a dialogbox popup where the users grants access is ideal. Is there anything
iam streaming my web cam to FMS .... i have got a latency of 1 -2 second,,,,,, What should i do to reduce the latency,,,,,, is ter any change i can make in FMS files(xml files) in order to reduce the latency......
View 6 RepliesI was messing around with some old examples, and I ran into an unfinished example where several 30k-100k XML files are loaded and stored as a string into an Array. The code looks basically like:[code]Basically, when I trace the 'this', the order of the files that are loaded is off. Out of about 10 tries, about 3 times the order is perfect. The remaining 7 times, the order is a bit off. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to ensure the files are loaded prior to the next file being loaded? I tried placing a while loop that basically delays the clock for a few milliseconds, and that didn't work either. Besides, that is not really a good solution to arbitrarily waste clock cycles.
View 6 RepliesI'm working on making a pretty chunky game engine for games I plan on making, but I was wondering if you make external AS files unopenable such as .lib files, so that if I give it to a friend that wants to use it, he/she cannot change my code. Is there anyway to make external AS files unopenable? Also, obfuscation isn't an option for this problem as it only stops the people who hack the finished product, not stopping people who have access to the actual files.
View 2 Repliesmy question is to diplay random files , and i have given the code as

one more question is "where i need to store all these movie files. either in samefolder where the flash file is placed. or make it as a seperate folder and or in the flash file library". and one more thing is "how can i place these 20 files in a order like declaring the dimensions on the screen. do i need to put in a CSS.
I have no experience with Adobe Flash because others have done this out of house in the past. (time has come for me to learn - quickly)
I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.
(I do not need to do anything else in Flash apart from create the video file with the swf extension.)
Just wondering what is the standard in the Industry; does the client get the ActionScript Classes and the .fla file?
View 2 RepliesI came across that website to see some products news, then I find there was a nice flash tool. You know that decompiler can edit swf files to fla files. But this tool which I want to introduce to you can edit swf to swf perfectly, amazing right? Plz check it here:URL...

Good day to everyone. I'm here today to seek help about Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. The story starts when one day, my boss asked me to make a flash presentation about their upcoming user training for a newly developed software. I was enthusiastic and excited about it because it's been a long time that I did not use Flash (note that I don't have any experience in ActionScript 3.0). At first, everything was a bit rough as I need to recall how to properly use the frames to create a successful animation. As I was about to finish the project, my boss approached me again and asked if I could insert a menu page in front so that the users won't have to replay the whole thing again just to look for a little something on that part of the movie. So yea, at first I was abit hesitant to accept. I said that it will work with Powerpoint. But she's a total pusher and I was forced to say yes. Now I'm having this problem about how to make a flash button load a swf movie.I've tried searching all over the net for tutorials but most of the times the "getUrl" and other stuff are said to be outdated.
View 1 RepliesI use javascript to play a flash file, and it plays correctly. But it also needs to parse some configuration files in the flash default directory. So the problem is: the flash file I am going to play can't access its config file for the wrong working directory.
For example, I specify the swf path value as 'falsh/list/test.swf', so my javascript will give this swf value by swfobject.embedSWF to play this flash. But the flash file flash/list/test.swf needs to parse a config file in the same directory with flash file like flash/list/config.xml. The problem is flash attempts to parse this config file under the current javascript working directory.

I'm setting up a website and im using flash as a menu, but my problem is when I click on a button to go to a new page it redownloads the flash files, not just the menu but also my flash banner.
This only happens the very 1st time i click on the menu but its still very annoying having to wait for it to redownload again when it should already be there saved.
The problem does not happen if I use the html links on the page just the geturl links from flash.
I understand that Flash supports subtitles with cue points and XML files for flash video. First, I don't know if that would work for a flash animation, and second, I'm looking for a much simpler solution. I am more than willing to manually add and time my subtitles myself on a new layer. What I need help with is finding the simplest way possible to make these subtitles toggle-able. Why? Because I seem to have a serious allergy to ActionScript, and though I can master programs like 3D studio Max and After Effects, I seem to screw up even the simplest of Actionscript jobs.
Is there some way I can make a button that simply makes my subtitles layer invisible across the whole thing? Maybe a command to change the font to a blank one, or to move the titles off screen? There has to be SOME sort of trick that won't require me to drop a load of code into each instance of text. I'm currently using Actionscript 3.0 with Flash CS4. I'd also love to have a pause button that would also stop any music or sound effects that are playing, but after struggling with that for years, I seriously doubt that's going to happen. I did google this subtitles problem, and search flashkit first. Nothing but VIDEO subtitle stuff, and I'm almost positive it wont work the same for a regular animation.
