This is part of a code used to navigate menu buttons by pressing the up and down buttons. I had the problem of when the button was held it continually cycled through them, but when I delete the listener it stops. However I am having problems getting to revert back after its deleted.
Code:
var keyListener:Object = new Object();
keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {
switch(Key.getCode()) {
case Key.DOWN :
so im makeing this wheres waldo type game and I have this code timer where when 15 seconds go by it goes to a keyframe where it says "you lose"and I have this other code where when you click a button it goes to a different keyframe where it says "you win"now the problem is if you click on the button in say 13 seconds you'll go to the "you win" frame but when 2 more seconds go by (makeing it 15 seconds) it'll take you to the "you lose" frame so i was wondering if theres a action where you can delete another action once you enter the "you win" frame or something like that
I have this class below I created that shoot's balls at the screen when a user clicks either the A or B button on their Wiimote. When it hits a target, which is detected onBallEnter-it then finds how relative the scaling is and if it's equal or greater, it removes the Event Listener, and removes the child from the parent object. Unforntually, It does neither. When it hit's this section it deletes the target (which is shot at by the ball), which is referenced at target.terminateObject(), but it does not delete the ball or remove the listener.
I'm trying to add an event listener to my air application that would prevent the "ActionScript error" window from appearing, so I can handle the error within my application.I was able to find a little information about this from adobe. I'm just not sure what I should be listening for.
i have this listener object below. i also have a text area component called, "taPhoneNmbr", that you type a phone number into. what currently happens that the listener object will listen for change in the taPhoneNmbr.length. once taPhoneNmbr.length reaches the value of the areacode it will add a hyphen to the end of the last character in taPhoneNmbr component.
same thing will happen once taPhoneNmbr.length reaches the value of prefix, resulting in a phone format like this: 800-555-1234 my problem now is that if i were to make a mistake with the number i've typed i cannot delete the last hyphen only because flash is constantly adding the hyphen through the listener. so i added the removeEventListener at the end of the else if statement. though i'm able to delete the hyphens, how do i "pause" the listener in the event where i either make changes to the prefix(not var) or area code(not var) portion of the taPhoneNmbr text? i know i could mickey mouse it and cheat by creating a clear all button, but i figured i'd challenge myself.
I got these four errors when I tried to create a button on the stage that would delete the text I inputted in the inputtext(ti). Based on the scripts I have and the errors, what should I write to create the delete button?
I am implementing a flex auto-suggest combobox - as the user types in each character: Consider the string 'Stackoverflow' and user input = 'st'
1) the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 'st' 2) text is set to auto-suggest string such that the un-typed part is highlighted.
So for instance, the combobox text may contain st'ackoverflow', where 'ackoverflow' is highlighted using setSelectedIndex()When I hit back-space or delete, and check the 'this.text' value, I expect that the last un-highlighted character ('t' in the above case) gets deleted and the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 's'. However the text property contains 'st', as before
If I wanted to change an action from a button click to a frame-based action, what do I use instead of onPress? The hints from the AS editor are all click-based.
I have a slideshow that is looped ... it contains 5 slides.I am using a gotoandPlay action to control the slide show.
on (release) { this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98"); }
There is a fade transition between slides.When a button is released ... I want to gotoandPlay (frame 98) ... and then have it stop 10 frames later on (frame 108). Frame 98 includes the transition ... if I just gotoandStop on frame 108 ... I loose the transition.Is there any way to incorporate a stop action, after a gotoandPlay action on my button ... without naming instances etc.I.E.
on (release) { this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98"); STOP ON FRAME 108 INTEGRATED HERE }
I just want to make a simple button action using actionscript 2 but I can't get it to work! I'm sorry for even asking but I've been at this for too long now for it to not work I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 and I do the following --
File -> New Flash File (ActionScript 2.0) Insert -> New Symbol Name - test Type - button Export for ActionScript Identifier - test
And then draw it in using the keyframes and add the code to 'Actions - Button' for my button
Code: on(release) { trace("trace"); }
I click on the button and it animates but no action event in the trace?
How can I get an action to follow another action when a button is clicked? When a button is clicked, I want the timeline to go to a certain frame and play and when it's done playing, to go to another frame and play. I basically want two actions in one function.
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter listener must be non-null.at flash.events::EventDispatcher/removeEventListener() at project1_fla::MainTimeline/btnName()
I'm trying to use the delete keyword to remove nodes from an xml file and it just plain won't work.Here's a stripped down example of what I'm working with. Every node has a child named "deleteme". If its value is equal to 1 I want to remove it from the xml file. If its anything else I want to leave it be. The delete method is deffinately gettig call but it's having no effect.
I am having a weird problem with scope/reference. I am using a loop to preload a number of thumbs in one go, I am creating a different listener for each one on the fly and then passing event handlers for each one of them. This should not be difficult using a loop, but somehow I cannot access the the parent object on my listener and therefore I can't do much with my thumbs after they are loaded.Here is the relevant segment of my code. myThumb_mc is a temporary variable that does not exist when the loop finishes, you can copy and paste this code to test it though. It should work to that extent. (you'll need an image1.jpg to be in the same directory)
Code: var myThumb_mc = _root.createEmptyMovieClip("myThumb_mc", _root.getNextHighestDepth()); myThumb_mc.clipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); myThumb_mc.clipLoader.loadClip("image1.jpg",myThumb_mc);[code].....
The code above works, but it does not look nice and it cannot be the right way of doing this. Long question short, how can I access the parent of a listener from a listener object? ._parent does not work.
I couldn't come up with a good title for this question but basically the problem is this - I've got a series of thumbnails and clicking on a thumbnail loads a larger picture into a holder movieclip on the main stage. However, if you click another thumbnail while the first picture is still loading, then both pictures load and it goes on from there. How can I make my code so that clicking a new thumbnail cancels any actions from previous clicks?
when publish the iphone os ,if the the *.actionscript file should be added in the contain files? and if the action "touch" in iphone os is the "click" action?
This is something that tugs at my mind a lot so I figured I'd ask the community. If I have a class called MyParentWidget and it contains an instance of MyChildWidget with an instance name of myChildWidget then I will often do something like this:
I have a movie containing a movieclip in which an empty movieclip is created with AS, showing an externally loaded pic.At the click of a button i want the pic to unload again, but it does'nt work. I tried removeMovieClip and Delete.
I want to delete a variable so if i create it later using again "var myVar:DataType" it won't throw an error because of the duplicated variable.I tried using delete but it says i can't use it on fixed property. I setted it to null as it states in help and again tried to delete it without luck.So how do i delete a variable?
I am trying to delete some copy but when I do it, it leaves a huge black space (previewed in Firefox and Safari on Mac) which is the space left when I deleted the script and I don't know how to close up the black space (like I would do in indesign or Word). I am doing something wrong but I don't know how to fix this simple thing.
