I am currently making a site that uses [URL] old fullscreen scrollbar. It's really perfect. I was just wondering how hard it would be to implement some sort of scrollTo function. For example, I would have all of the content inside the scrollbar window. In this content, I would have a list of movieclips acting as buttons that would scroll to a specific y value (all of which would be in say 200px increments). so I would love to have a simple function where I could execute scrollTo(n); where n=a givin y value. View 6 RepliesI've created a Flash project that is to be distributed on a CD and launched as a 1024 x 768 Flash player window (so no html, java, etc.). It opens on my Mac just fine, but on my clients PC the top of the Flash Player window is halfway down the screen. Is there anyway to make the window open so it's flush with the top and left of the screen?...and not be in a web browser.

but ExternalInterface.call('window.location.href.toStr ing'); will not work where JavaScript is disabled hence I would like to know if there are any possible way or hack to do this.

I have tried the _url method in actionscript, but it returns the path of the .swf doc relative to the website (ie: [URL]) Is there a way to achieve this in Actionscript? View 7 RepliesI'm constructing an enhanced CD menu in Flash. I'm going to be including some desktop backgrounds that I would like people to be able to click on and then save the file from the CD to a location of their choice.
Is there a way to do this - access the files system as you would when you choose a file to upload but instead are choosing a location to save that file too? And then copy the file from a Cd location to this chosen loaction.
Or alternatively is there a way to just open a pop up file window in a certain location.

I'm newer to flash. What I'd like to do is have it add a product to the shopping cart and close back down.If I can't do it straight from flash, I'm sure I can have the flash page open up an html page which redirects to the add to cart page and automatically closes, but obviously a much bigger pain in the butt, and it will only work anyway if I can specify in the actionscript for it to open a 5 x 5 pixel window.
In my game people shoot at 4 different moving images and get points. Simple right? Well one of the images is a question mark that people can shoot and when they do, I need flash to pause the game timer, pop up a new window, display the multiple choice question in the window and wait for the user to answer. I would also like to be able to customize the size and location of the pop up window!
Then if the question is answered correctly close window award 10 points and continue the game. If the question is answered incorrectly, say wrong and then display the end game results screen. Right now I have it to where it opens a pop up in a web browser and askes the question there. The question is randomly chosen from a file called random.html. But I do not want the game to operate that way. I want the game to open the pop up within flash.
I want to put a movieclip with tools at the bottom of the window in the center with tools icons, it should have fixed posiiton so that user can scroll the main window having it always on prompt. I think I need the browser window size properties to do somenthing as this. Is there a way to get them?

But if the browsers width and/or height measures more than my movie i don't want it to fit (zoom), then the swf should only be centered.

I want my background to occupy 100% of the browser window and have the content to be centered.
Is there a much simpler way to do that without having to do it in a framework?

View 1 RepliesI have a problem and that is my swf will only play once in IE. When a user revisits the site from the same IE browser window or refreshes, nothing happens. If i open a new IE browser window, the swf plays and it plays from the IE cache as the preloader does not show again. This is happening in multiple versions of IE. I do not have this problem with Fire Fox, Chrome, or other non-IE browsers. Here is my preloader code:

I am using swfobject when publishing. I do not think this is the problem as when i publish straight from flash without swfobject and try to play my swf in the same IE browser window, the same problem occurs.
I'm running an online game site, and a few websites are really bad about embedding some of my games and stealing bandwidth.
To combat this, I replaced the original files with super-simple .swf files that redirected back to my own websites -- thus stealing back the traffic that they were stealing from me.
The problem came later when something changed with the new Flash player, and new windows no longer opened. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get new windows to open. I've tried a few different approaches, but nothing appears to work.
So what I'm wondering is, can this even be done anymore -- where I can switch out a .swf that's being leeched with one that opens a window to my own site?
