Aug 22, 2005I've got some movieclips where everytime when you click on one, that movieclip has to be send to the back.Most logic solution is MovieClip.swapDepth(1), so you swap with the movie wich is at the lowest depth, but for one reason or another, this results in the movieclip jumping to the front.An examplefile is in attachment.this is my script:

Mar 4, 2009Is there someway that you can arrange movieclips in as3? Like when you right click on it and you can arrange "Send to back", "Send to front". For example I've exported 2 Mc:s to as3 and made a new instance in as3 by referring to the class I exported. So is there someway I can decide which one to put infront of the other one? If it's confusing my goal is to at some point bring one of the Mc:s to the front, and on another point bring the other MC so the front.

Dec 9, 2008I've got a bunch of movieclips lying on top of each other like a stack. When you click one, it slides out, and comes forward. When clciked again it goes back and slides back into the stack.inside the movieclips iv'e placed:

along the timeline at a spcific frame.I need to make it get the same depth value as it had before I clicked it when it goes back. Basicly:

Mar 5, 2008I've developed a website and on the home page there is a series of css/ javascript dropdown hyperlinks. Some of these hyperlinks display a popup menu of further links on mousemover. Immediately below the hyperlinks is a small flash movie.
The problem is, when you mouseover the links and it displays the popup links, the flash movie appears OVER the drop links.
Is there a way I can either send the flash movie to the back using some kind of 'send to back' option like there is in dreamweaver? Surely I don't have to restructure my page to allow for this?

i get a url encoded string, so i tried to unescape the value

Aug 1, 2005I have a loop that creates movie clips where the movie clips are named mc_+ x for say x = 1 to 10 so the movieclips are called mc_1, mc_2.....mc_10.
What I need to do is the know which one of the movieclips is clicked on but more importantly the number i.e if movieclip mc_2 is clicked on then I need to use the value 2.
At the moment I am sending the value of x to be displayed in a text box within each movieclip:
_root.search.textfield.text = x;
Then I have a piece of actionscript that uses the value of x but I don't seem to be able to "re-read" the value of x back with:

what I want is t = x is it to do with strings and number variables?is it possible to send the variable x to each movieclip so that it can be called from within each movieclip instead?

Aug 31, 2011I have a site with an SWF that I can put some metrics into, such as ZIP Code, Weight, etc.. then, it takes that info and gives me shipping rates.
I need to build a front-end site that I can have a forms page that will push data to the backend SWF, and then return the data back from the SWF to the front end.
Front-end -> SWF (Zip Code, Weight, Size) -> *Calculates* -> Front-End
That should be the flow.. So I need to send data to the backend, GET the data that it calculated, and return the results to my front-end.

Aug 29, 2011I used the 3d transform tool to rotate and move an mc in 3d.How do i make it to behave as a 2d movie again... Reset doesn't work... it only resets all to 0 but it's still 3d.The only way I found was to delete it and drag it back from the library but is there a more common solution?

I am developing a online game with flash mx , MS SQL 2000 and asp. The problem is I send the data using sendAndLoad method to asp file and get data back from asp file. But when the internet connection is not good there is a problem like jam or lost packets. How can I prevent the lost of packets. Some of the data are important. Is there any way to solve this?

Aug 25, 2011I have created an interactivity to simulate a product. To do this my project has multiple frames. Each frame contains an individual movie clip. The clips each contain buttons that change the display and go to and stop on specific frames based on which button was pressed. My problem is, after the interaction a movie clip may have been stopped on say frame 12, the next time the frame containing the movieclip is opened on the main timeline I need the movieclip to open on frame 12 . However, the movie clip opens back up at frame 1 each time not saving the interaction.

Oct 11, 2011The scenario (photo gallery): I have the stage. Then I have a movie clip with thumbnails on it. Click a thumbnail and it opens another movie clip that I have attempted to make look like a modal window-drk grey transparent, you can see through to the thumbnails it is sitting over, and the large pic appears on this. So click thumb, and go into movie clip with the rectangle background and large pic. User can scroll through large pics, and then click button on right that will "close" back to the thumbnails movie clip. The "close" button isn't working with or without the actionscript I have tried so far. And I don't know the correct actionscript that would close this movie clip back to the thumbnail movie clip.

But if you try to click for example on the "contact" button and after "about" button you can see that my music button (right side) is closer to the main border... so why the mc's coords are little off if you had clicked different button before (or if the mc's coords are different than before)? [note that I need to use Math.floor and Math.round to make it look sharp and that the speed value is for all MC's number 5]. Also my MC location is set up to hole pixels..

Nov 9, 2010In my swf Application, I can change var's movieclip:background color, text, drag- swf, image into the movieclip ( WYSIWYG method ).in the end, I send via xml to php page all the movieclip var's, and to sql database.
I need also, send by the xml, the position of the movieclip to php file.( The reason is: I want to display just this moveclip with all the change vars in a new browser page ).
I dont know how to write this xml in my Actionscript2 -position of the movieclip.[code]..

I get inside the MovieClip using "Edit in place" (CMD+Alt+E), but HOW DO I GET OUT using a shortcut?(In the old days i could just use the 'edit in place' shortcut again without having anything selected, but since CS4 or 5 upgrade, that option is gone.)
