ActionScript 2.0 :: Set A Variable Before The New Movie Gets Loaded
Dec 27, 2004
I have this dynamic menu that loads data from a xml file and loads a coprresponding movie. BUT, is it possible to set a variable as well OR instead so before the new movie gets laoded I can play something like a outro mc, check variables and then load the new mc?? Here`s the code:
If a variable is declared in a movie as global (_global). Is this variable available to a movie which loads this movie via LoadMovie()? i.e. parentMovie loads childMovie.swf
i am using flash cs3,i have a main movie that load many swf using a document class..i need to pass "userid" variable from the main movie to loaded swf so they can change their content dynamically.
Like the title say's, is it possible to send data to my flash movie after it has been loaded? More specific: I have a flash-movie with an image in it, and from the outside I would like to be able to alter it by sending fe. '?color=FF00FF' to the movie
Working in AS2, using CS3 Flash Pro I've simplified this to just the one little thing I'm trying to do.
countervariables.txt has this text in it:
[Code]...
The trace shows itemsPerMili as 'NAN' and totalForYear as 'undefined'. I know itemsPerMili yields 'Not A Number' because totalForYear comes up undefined, but oddly, the loaded variable does show up correctly in a dynamic text field assigned to the variable. I don't understand why it should show up in the dynamic text field correctly when it won't trace.
I want to see the number "3.80517503" in my trace for itemsPerMili.
I'm trying to use the scroll pane component for the first time, and I've spent most of the day getting nowhere. Based on my experience with other components and with loading content into movie clips, I expected that I would point my scroll pane to its content and be off and running, but that hasn't happened.
I am making a flipping page book in flash and have had to create sections in different movies because it kept crashing when i tried to have all the pages in the same movie. I have 3 movies 'page flip4', 'pageflip4-2', and 'page flip 4-3' . I have used the code below to go (flip bacwards) from 'page flip4-2' to the frame label ''backflip'' in 'page flip4'..This works fine
Code: on (press) { loadMovieNum("page flip4.swf", 1); }
I'm not sure how to describe what I'm seeking, but basically I have a movie loaded in a clip and when the user clicks a button, I want the loaded movie to perform some kind of action (fade out or whatever) while the new movie is loaded.
I have an external swf (sub.swf) that loads into my main swf. The external swf has buttons of its own...that I would like to use to load additional external swf's in its place. I click on the buttons and nothings happens.
My current code is as follows:
All of the following code is in my main.swf ================================ //Location where the external SWFs will load var Xpos:Number=18; var Ypos:Number=10;
[Code]...
External swf has no code except for a stop action.
I pieced this current code based on various articles I've found on the net.
MainMove.swf is doing a loadmovie of SecondMovie.swfThe Button that loads SecondMovie.swf also disables other buttons in MainMovie.swfon (release) { _root.intro_btn.enabled = flase; loadMovieNum("SecondMovie.swf", 2);How do I Re enabled the Buttons in MainMovie.swf from a Button within SecondMovie.swf???
I have 2 EXTERNAL movies being loaded with initial load of my site into my main.swf, one of which (movingbg.swf) is being loaded with a preloader. The problem is that my other movie (menubar.swf) is loaded before my first movie. I think I should use the _visible property to solve this and here is what I have so far...
Greetings. I've been doing this tutorial. [URL] And worked pretty well. In order to adapt to my needs i made it a movie with a drag and drop parameter to be loaded in another movie (with loadMovie or loadMovieNum). The problem is than the movie loads, drags but doesnt drops. Even i tried with the example movie and nothing happens.
Is it possible for my swf to get a variable value from the url in which its loaded?
Example: If 'mypage.swf' is loaded in 'mypage.html' and its url looks like this:[URL]...then, is it possible to get the value of 'myvariable' from inside swf?I tried using this code on the first frame of my swf:
Code: var myurl= this._url.split("?myvariable="); var urlvalue=myurl[1]; ... but it shows undefined
my problem is that i need to make a reisze, cause the screen resolution for other users. My main and news movie works perfect, but the others movies re-scale everything bigger. The problem of the external loaded movie is: this movie needs the funktion:
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale"; Stage.align = "TL";
If i dont have this code inside the movie is not going to resize fullscreen into the main movie. Inside this movie im scalling photos and some mc's You can take a look what i mean under: [URL]
If you take a look to the bar where the Number of pictures (30) are you will see that the lower bar and the pictures is not going to scale to fill the full screen if i delete the this code;
My _root movie is nothing more than a interface with navigation buttons. When someone clicks a button another swf is loaded into an empty movie clip on _root.
My Problem:I understand loaders and use them all the time, however, I still to this day have never gotten a loader to work with loading an external movie into a currently playing movie. (ie: in my _root movie you press the "Searching" button and searching.swf is loaded into _root.contents --> contents is the empty movie clip)So anyways... where does the loader go? The only results I've ever had is as SOON as the loadMovie method is called the movie hangs until the entire movie clip is loaded. Then the loader runs... thus making it totally useless.
say i have a main movie, into this movie is loaded another movie on level_1.
is there any actionscript that allows a button inside the loaded movie control the main movie? i.o.w. can a button inside the loaded movie tell the main movie to go to another scene?
+ i am looking for code for that same button to unload the movie it is in itself..
I have a movie that opens up full screen and load an external movie into it. No problem there but I want the loaded movie to keep its original size and not resize with the full screen movie. In the screenshot, you see how the yellow external movie loads into the fullscreen green movie. The white rectangle is only for size reference (photoshopped it in) and is not in the actual flash movies. The yellow movie is supposed to be 800x125 pixels but resizes with the fullscreen of the green movie.
Both files are running on the same domain.I am simply calling a another movie within a movie using the global variable feature.Howver even hardcoding the variable _global.directionsText the import-html.swf movie returns a undefined error
Code: //Frame 1 - Actionscript from Calling Movie _global.directionsText="http://www.mysite.com/access_db/viki...ive/myHTML.txt";[code].....
I have a problem accessing a variable loaded from another swf. Actually the variable is a singeltone class, which needs to be initialized.It has structure presented in the last part of the message.The project has the following structure:
- main.swf - this loads all the other swf files and is their holder.
- assets.swf - contains some common elements and initializes the SingleTone class
- interface.swf - contains some interface elements and needs to use the SingleTone class
- all the three swf files have access to a common class structure, where the SingleTone class is defined.
Now, the problem I have is accessing the SingleTone class from the interface.swf file. If I try to send the SingleTone.singleTone. property parameter to the class I get "Type coercion failed: cannot convert from ClassName@.. to ClassName". If I try to access the SingleTone class directly from the interface.swf file i get "Cannot access a property or reference of a null object...". Both errors I get seem logical:
- if I send a parameter, I send the reference to that object, but the interface.swf file does not have access to the assets.swf domain;
- if I try to access the SingleTone class directly from the interface.swf file, I get the null error because the class is not initialized over the interface.swf domain.
Is there any work arround? I know a simple solution may be to initialize the variable over the interface.swf domain, but what if there is a variable that can only be instantiated in the assets.swf? Can I access that variable from another swf, or can I change the ApplicationDomain?
I am sending a variable from my main swf into a loaded swf using the following code with its output at the bottom.I am having trouble getting my Course_ID_NO variable out of the function "inputid" in the loaded swf.
//-------Main swf course_begin.addEventListener( MouseEvent.CLICK,cb_btn_click ); function cb_btn_click (e:MouseEvent):void { var mc_course:MovieClip; var request:URLRequest = new
I am trying to place a condition statement so that it will only do an action if the swf loaded into the varaible is the same or empty. I start of with loading the sample1.swf into the movieclip swf_holder
Code: var loadSwf:Loader = new Loader(); swf_holder.addChild(loadSwf); loadSwf.load(new URLRequest(sample1.swf)); loadSwf.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadComplete);
In order for me to get the sample1.swf to play, I create a variable so that I can just call on it
I have loaded a variable in a text file using the following code:[code]So, my text file has the variable called "volumes" and it loads into a text field named whose instance name is "ggg".Now the variable volumes is a number, and I want to use its value to determine the number of time a loop runs. Here is the code for that:[code]But this doesn't work. However it works if I define the volumes variable inside ...
Seems simple and I've searched but can't find the answer to this simple problem.
Loading map-.swf into main.swf. I want to use a variable from main inside map-1 to indicate which xml file to load.
First problem, I'm coming to AS3 and if a variable isn't declared, then errors, can't compile. So do I have to declare this variable in both swf files?
And well I've tried declaring the variable in the loaded swf and it still doesn't work.[code]...
i am using claudio's scrollbar to scroll an rss feed (compiled into an XML file). i have a variable h2 which is equal to the height of a box within the movie clip containing the scrolling content. the height of the box is equal to the maxscroll of the externally loading XML file. the box *does* resize properly (tested with trace), but only after the variable h2 is already defined... so variable contains the original size of the box and not the new size. how can i get the variable to update so that the entire external file can be seen with the scroller?
I have been playing with this for a day and haven't been able to figure out the proper path to load this variable.So I have a main movie, a menu (movie clip) in it, and each menu option loads an external swf in a movie clip instance (called content) in the main movie.Loading the movies works fine.My problem is I want assign a variable that I have declared in a loaded movie in the 'content' instance.
Main Movie | - Menu (MC) -onrelease -loads movie.swf, assigns defaultpage var a value
[code]....
Here is the onrelease code I'm using
on (release) { this._parent.content.loadMovie("company.swf"); //this works this._parent.content.defaultpage = "somevalueinhere"; //this doesnt }
