How to read a variable from main.swf (that load content.swf) and use it inside content.swf?
I have a variable called TextColor = "Green" in the main movie and I want to read this variable from inside the content movie?
I'm trying to catch a variable content (set on the main timeline) from a movie clip added to the stage. I need to set a condition with that variable, so here's my line :
Code: Select allif (MovieClip(root).screenMode == ("full"))
But it's not working, I'm also trying to trace the variable with that command :
Code: Select alltrace(MovieClip(root)[screenMode]);
But this doesn't work too.
i am using flash cs3,i have a main movie that load many swf using a document class..i need to pass "userid" variable from the main movie to loaded swf so they can change their content dynamically.

But I find if the target swf contains TLF and if you set the publish property to RSL instead of "merge into code", the content of Loader will be set to some "__Preloader__".
View 2 RepliesI have a website up at [URL]. The thing is that I have flv files being loaded by swfs that are loaded on a movieclip of a main swf. Locally everything works fine but as soon as I move it up the web or even try to run in over my home network, the flv files won't run. Can the flv run inside a swf that is loaded into another swf? I have set the paths to relative already, this taking into account the main swf!
Something like this:
loaded_swf_folder/flv_folder/flv_file.flv
If I didn't take the main swf into account it would look like this:
flv_folder/flv_file.flv
But I tried this already and it didn't work at all. Except if you run one of the loaded swf directly instead of through the main swf.
this website I'm designing loads swfs. inside one of these loaded swfs is a button that is supposed to remove the loader child from the stage and load a page in the main swf. How would I go about scripting that without using OOP? or is there a short external class I can create?

I can't restructure the 100-150 some odd pieces that are already in existance using AS3. New funtionality is needed that requires communication between the two movies.

View 8 RepliesI have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

I'm converting an old AS2 file into AS3 (and trying to learn AS3 at the same time).A movie clip contains a number of different animated sequences and buttons within the application trigger these different sequences.The buttons are functional only when an animation has completed playing.
In AS2, I achieved this with a var called _root.animating which was initially set to "false" and switched to true when the animation played and switched back to false at the end of the anim sequence. The buttons checked this var when clicked. Here is some of the AS2.[code]...

I have created 2 textfields: an input textfield at level 0 with an instance name of input_txt and a dynamic txt box in a loaded movie at level 20 with an instance name of output_txt. How do I get the text that is input into level 0 to appear into the textbox at level 20?

View 4 Repliesmy problem is that i need to make a reisze, cause the screen resolution for other users. My main and news movie works perfect, but the others movies re-scale everything bigger. The problem of the external loaded movie is: this movie needs the funktion:
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "TL";
If i dont have this code inside the movie is not going to resize fullscreen into the main movie. Inside this movie im scalling photos and some mc's You can take a look what i mean under: [URL]
If you take a look to the bar where the Number of pictures (30) are you will see that the lower bar and the pictures is not going to scale to fill the full screen if i delete the this code;

I am pulling double duty with this question as it serves two purposes. I am developing a total flash controlled ad system for myself, but also need to use the same theory for a project for work.
Concept: I have a main movie (ad rotator system) that I then want to randomly load other swf's (individual ads) into this main swf after a set period of time. The random load I got set no problem. The problem I am having is to get it to move to the new Frame label of the main movie which then loads the smaller swfs. I am using the LoadMovie with nInterval time delay command in flash to load the movies.

I have a flash mp3 player that I want to embed in a page and I need to insert the data of two external .xml files in an action inside the first frame (there are some server limitations that don't allow reading of external xml, txt and js files). The action I have now is:

so, what I want to do is paste the contents of those two .xml files inside my Flash movie somewhere so the above script accesses them directly and does not have to call outside files. Is there a tutorial somewhere that outlines this procedure? I know that this is the contrary from what .xml is used for but I can't do much now..
I load a movie into my main movie. From that movie I want to load a third movie back onto my main movie. I tried _root from inside the second movie but it loads the third movie in the second.
