I have a list of buttons each one bring to stage an image. The problem is I want the button to both load image and unload the image that is now on the stage from previous press on other button.

I am trying to load external swf's from buttons. I managed to load an external swf from a button, but as a result I can't work out how to get it to unload when other buttons are clicked. Currently In the flash file I have only 2 buttons 'dutrain_b' and 'portfolio_b'. I would like to add many more when the code is working.

View 9 RepliesI have a project to do and I'm not sure how to get it done. I have some experience using xml to load images into flash but that was one at a time. the project that i'm currently working on needs to work like something like this.
I need flash to load in three images at one time(from an xml file) and display them in a horizontal line, and then move across the stage from one side to the other.
i know how to load one image at a time but not multiple. and i don't know how to make the images slide across the stage in a line.
I want the current swf to unload and the new one to load only after a transition occurs. Is there a more efficient way to do this than if. switch()?

I currently have all of the buttons working and are loading an external .swf file on to the screen. The problem I am having is that when I go from one button to the next the loaded .swf stays on the screen and the next .swf gets loaded on top of it. I know that I need to unload the file but I am not sure where to put the code for the unload or what code exactly to use. I would like when the button is pressed to unload the previous loaded .swf and load the new .swf without having a separate button to unload.

I am using Flash CS3 and Action Script 2.0. I would also like to have the circle graphic have a small photo pop up by it when the mouse hovers over it. What do I need to look into to make something like this happen? I haven't been able to find anything similar to doing this.
I'm designing a site for a friend and I have a menu bar across the top with 6 buttons. I made your basic rollover with CSS, but now I'm asked if something can be done about the abrupt change from the down state to the rollover state. Not knowing much at all about Flash, I thought this would be pretty simple and a good way to get acquainted with the program. But after spending hours today rummaging through Google I'm considering digging my eyes out with a spoon. It seems that no tutorial quite tells me what I need to do, and when I try to adapt what I'm told to what I need, it all stops working. There seems to be a dozen different ways to do the same thing and now I'm just really confused. So here is what I need:
When you mouse over the button, it quickly transitions/fades into the highlight/rollover image. When you move the cursor away, it fades back to normal. And *possibly* a quick transition to another highlight on click.

I simply have one FLVPlayback component in the background and a movieclip on the layer above with an FLVPlayback component inside it. The first FLV component is constantly looping a five-second video. So all I need is for the movieclip containing the second FLV component to load the right file, fade in, and when the video ends, fade out. Absolutely all of that works... apart from the fading in. What I noticed was that my movieclip was fading in correctly, but the FLVPlayback component was empty and transparent until the fade had finished - then it played the clip. I am having a problem loading a bitmap/graphic into the place of a movie clip using AS 2.0 on Flash CS3.You see, I am uploading an image into a library, for example, Bitmap1.jpg, and I upload another image to turn into a movie clip, for example, Bitmap2.jpg turns into Symbol 1.I place Symbol 1 onto the screen and I've been trying code after code and I'm not sure how to load Bitmap1.jpg in the place of Symbol 1 using the 'if statement'. I've tried the 'load' functions, but since I've just bought CS3 and I don't have Flash 8, a lot of the functions have changed.Here's an example of my code:

How do I unload that movieclip when the user scrolls over the nine remaining buttons? I know it is an unload command but I am not sure what the code should be or where I should put it. I have tried to put an unload command on the other buttons but I had no luck~
